What a shame since i was vaguely interested in the game from just a typical fighting game fan but stopped caring about Invincible because i found it kind of boring. I know this is a Tekken board but i been playing Injustice 2 again and having fun with it because it's a decent superhero fighter. It's also a shame that i believe i read some of what MK1 became was supposed to be another Injustice game.

Either that or I'll wait for Marduk.

I really hope not, but there is so much outside obvious balance problems that needs to get fixed IMO so I do agree. I look forward to the possible singular patch to nerf Anna the tiniest bit to tide us over to S3.
Tekken Dojos give points based on certain player counts, but DQs don't count toward the final count. Many tourneys didn't correctly mark DQs, instead marking them as 0-2s. I'm not holding my breath for any good changes out of nerfs. If they really want good will, they need to stop doing retarded collabs and kill the Cash Shop (and I know Bamco won't do that). Even if the game is fixed, I just can't give them my money.

Tekken 8, where pressing buttons mindlessly is what they designed for

Extension from df2 for Jin
Lee gets hitman from slide (???)
Reina WRA 1 from the walking back stance (namely more pressure from d2, 1+2)
Probably some charge move for Victor
Lars old d1+2?
So for now I will assume its all lip service and bs, until we get some actual notes. I suppose things would be more bearable if you could move without everything tracking, but I'm not sure they fully understand why people consider Anna so boring and unfun. You could even see for TWT that people didn't cheer for Anna or Lidia, and one player even got pressured by the crowd to not change to Lidia.
For the characters, Kuni is funny, I guess she is popular but ass to play against like Marduk. Bob I haven't tried, Roger I look forward to and most were excited it wasnt Marduk.

Unless Season 3 is banger after banger and it's all super sick DLC announced on Day 1, I think this might be it. At this point I'd take Lei Wulong to dance in the ruins with, at least, but unless the game becomes Dark Resurrection levels of good on defense and movement AND the DLCs aren't something like Ogre, Jinpachi, Akuma and Masaharu Kaito or something I don't see Tekken surviving the trashfire it's been mired in for the last couple years.
As someone who has been around from the start, it really sucks, but I suppose that's the way of things. Nothing can stand in the way of corpo greed, not for long.

I... don't think we're making it another year. Look, I will say that the marketing team knew what to say, but they've been caught lying before. Back to basics SOUNDS good, in theory. But at this point they're just fucking with us. 'Member when Season 2 was "The Defense Update?" Again, not that the marketing team is doing a poor job... They're doing a shortsighted job. Don't sell us what you think we want, if you're not actually gonna deliver. Already in the trailer they showed Leroy has basically a flash, (Unga) Reina has a new homing from backstep (This covers a gap in her very retarded very strong offense in heat) and we haven't seen any movement buffs which is what people would want.
I've tried to pivot to VF and DOA before but lack of cool movement and dead community respectively thwarted my attempts. I'll say Raidou in DoA was really really fun and he had electrics. Tekken was fine with the busted offense because we had busted movement to make up for it, but in recent years we've just been having to deal with these extremely fucking stupid and stacked moves and I don't think anybody likes that.
In case you don't wanna click the video, I'll say who's in: First character is Kunimitsu, an ill omen if I've ever seen one: "Return to Basics! ... By enjoying Gooner Waifu Ninja with full screen projectiles, command dash and a boatload of BS." Between the fact that the Pakis have been rigging tournaments, Arslan was caught doping, somewhat banned, then unbanned, and now he gets his waifu spammy shit character back in, it's hard to beat the allegations that they are pandering to them like nobody's business. Motherfucker, Knee asked for Bruce: We woulda taken that. I don't think Kunimitsu adds fucking anything, and it's not like Mai in Street Fighter where she's all gooned up and is gonna put asses in seats either. Just, in general, I'm a little amazed at how much Paki cock they're gobbling. Is it really that big an audience? Cause the game fucking plays itself and if you see "Top" Paki players from 7 it's exactly how they wanted to play: Stand there mashing shit, stance mixup, stance mixup, stance mixup.
Second is Bob. This DLC pattern were they're literally just cutting out base roster and reselling later is getting a little annoying. Specially when Tekken built it's brand on mostly not doing that. Past Tekken 5, mostly everyone returned, or at least every previous style. I find this apalling, because Tekken characters are a royal pain to learn and now they keep taking them out of the game and trying to sell them back to us. Fucking Bob has been in everything since 6 and I suspect he will be largely unchanged from 7. He's already very easy to use. I wouldn't put it past them to make him Overpowered as fuck again though.
Third is Roger. Now, nobody remembers this but Roger is and has largely always been annoying as fuck. He's a super duper string offense character who much like King pretty much precludes you from moving against him BUT he also CAN actually move AND he's got a full grapple game. At least it's like eh sure charging for this is fine, I suppose, he was cut from the game since Tag 2, but he was never popular. Supposedly they've tweeted that Lei Wulong isn't in because he's not popular, yet he's more popular than Shaheen, Bears, Raven, Leo and Zafina yet they all made it. Some people are up in arms about Miguel, understandably at this point.
Fourth is mystery meat but supposedly another (Waifuish with a spunky teehee sorry I caved your skull in personality, presumably) new original character. Boy I sure hope she shoots lasers out of her tits and not her hands this timeeeee.
The whole thing is just meh as fuck and very very boring by now. Tekken's core audience is getting old and I think it's hard to get us excited about "Shit ya used to get for free, but for FIVE BUCKS, with a VERY slight graphical upgrade that makes it run like shit on a shit engine!" Like man, paying for fucking Bob. And Eddy. And Heihachi. Who is a Tekken 1 legacy character. Shit, paying for a Chang or Lei is bad enough if I think about it. Couldn't we just get shitloads of new, terrible characters? Nah, cause no one would want to pay for Victor, Katarina or Gigas. At this point if I were them my marketing strategy would be all veterans return for free, pay for guest characters. Street Fighter doesn't have that problem, but Street Fighter doesn't require you get a Master's Degree to play ONE character well. Nowadays you're meant to wait and hope and pray that your main even makes it in before year five, and then you're meant to hope and pray that your character hasn't been lobotomized for the casual audience and that he hasn't been neutered because he was deemed too much to deal with or whatever. Back in the day you bought a new Tekken and unless you were a Jun player, you knew your main was in. Shit, even if you were a Jun player, you knew her style was in. The only truly lost character was Ogre, and Ogre was a Dural style move mix. And even he got back eventually.
Aside from that, Miary fucking sucks. Terrible animations, anime bullshit, stupid as hell, she's Lucky Josie. She shoots fucking snake lasers and has wings and a stripper pole. Did Murray's trooned out kid design this? She's goonbait to the extreme. Bare legs, feet, and a classic modern Tekken "Tits on a flag" design, and they are BIG. She's also brown. How the fuck do you get a playerbase of primarily men to hate this? It's a generational fumble. Nobody hates Ivy. Almost everyone I know in these circles fucking despises smol quirky teehee brown woman.
At this point nothing short of a Tag 2 size roster for Tekken 9 would impress, and the fact that people are already talking about Tekken 9 is a really bad sign.
TL;DR: We're cooked. Play Virtua Fighter. Paying for Bob and Heihachi and Eddy. Pot of Greed has nothing on these motherfuckers.
It definitely depends on what "basics" means. Is it T5 type basics? Or is it S1 type basics?
Not sure why but Pakistani players either pick some of the most boring characters or just have boring playstyles. Arslan just plays lockdown with Nina, Atif is playing Anna right now, etc. I think the only two who don't fall into the category is The Jon with King or Numan with Steve. Arslan does also put out biased balance opinions, like Bryan top 1. Although I don't think Bruce would really drive any sales, on top of him being a menace.
Roger is pretty funny because everyone was hype they didn't do Marduk, when they did a character probably as annoying.
Street Fighter does sell back returning characters, although I guess their base roster is much more fluid though. I do think they could just port characters between entries only tweaking balance, since Tekken characters already have plenty.
I hope we get Tekken 9. I'm not too sure though. I at least hope they port the old Tekkens to modern netcode before the series dies. It'll be sad if we do lose all 3D fighters though.
Virtua Fighter 6 we will have to see. I hope its good, but I'm expecting a "modern" fighter. At the very least, that's what I'd do if I was a dev, considering no one is playing VF5 despite the push they've given.

Her story is retarded and everything about her screams DEI girlboss like Reina. They ruined Ogre for Mary Zo. Christie has dark skin, but she was a likable character who had ties to the Tekken story (until Harada ruined her). Josie wasn't likable because of her shitty personality, no story, annoying voice, and was more or less shitty Bruce with tits. Nobody liked badass girlboss Katarina either.

After seeing Tecmo change the original ports of Monster Rancher 1 and 2 for the DX release, I don't trust Bamco with rereleasing the older Tekken games without editing them. Besides, there are already videos of older Tekken games being played on Youtube.
