since the grind actually starts at orange/red ranks, why dont they remove the ranks before that or make twice as many, because the majority of people are on orange/red ranks, would be interesting to see where the people are actually ranking into.

I'm going to assume that anymore or fewer ranks would cause issues with matchmaking. Default for ranked is +- 1 and depending on the time of the day it can take a while to find a match without playing the same three people that the game loves to throw your way. And if I am not mistaken they intend to tweak the matchmaking with the S3 patch, but what that actually means remains to be seen.

Not having a good time playing Tekken at the moment. I am getting washed left and right. Not sure if I can get back in blue ranks before the patch drops.

Kinda curious how Tekken will fare without their iconic head-shitter. Maybe better? Maybe he planned out the next 2 years and we won't see it for quite a while?

I still want to get into Tekken but man, it's a rough sell. Basically the whole genre is fucked outside SF6.

get an emulator and try the first six tekkens out. otherwise you can still spent 6,50 bucks on a t7 key if you dont wanna spend 17 ish bucks on t8 which is understandable.

So now I've heard more, its a bipolar patch. Lots of bug fixes that really should have been S2. Noob killers nerfed pretty commonly like Feng's DB2 string, but many characters are stronger than they were. Its funny at least to see what they've done.

Certain characters like Anna, Asuka, Bryan, and Jin got decent nerfs. Then others like Alisa, Azucena, Hei, King, Etc Etc got pretty much all buffs. Its pretty funny hearing what the devs see the character identities are. The charge bug is back: you can get a 15f +4 mid (with a followup on hit) on Hei by pressing UB 1+2, 1+2. A lot of "making things easier." Back to basics more along the lines of "making things easier," not "RETVRN TO T5."

TL;DR wait for T9. Maybe we'll see some actual nerfs throughout the year, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I'd appreciate this "minor steps thing" if the game didn't take giant steps in the wrong direction in S2.

Season 3 is a disaster. Kekken is dead. That's all I gotta say.
The charge bug is back
How the FUCK did they manage to let this slip through? Are jeets coding this game now?

No front, but if you're considering giving Murray another shekel, you're retarded. Play 7 or boot up Fightcade instead.

EDIT: JoKa threw in the towel.

That explains the charge bug returning at least. I'm sure there's more to be found.

Too bad 7 loads like ass and has many problem characters (though definitely less than 8 ). I should try more T3, TTT ogres scare me.
I really would like to know what kind of insane asylum Bandai Namco is. S2 is like whatever, shit happens. But doing twice in a row is certainly a bold move.
They still seem to be chasing after that ever-illusive casual fanbase by constantly making things "easier." Probably also had to add a move per character for fairness or something, despite that making things even tougher for new players. Doesn't help many of the moves are just taken from strings which makes them feel even more bolted on. Also doesn't help that they showed what they think of a character and then immediately give a move that doesn't align with the identity they just stated. Weaknesses also don't really exist. Its also hilarious they keep shooting themselves in the foot with advertising to immediately break promises, though they tried to get ahead of it this time but the tagline was already out there.

They've really got to understand that while this easy pilot offense is accessible to new players, I really doubt new players enjoy being on the receiving end. Its like most characters are designed for single-player.

I wouldn't be surprised if they just focused all their manpower on DLC and microtransactions. Best explanation I can come up with for this weird patch.

Even though I would like to agree with this point but much like SF6 the snails pace of DLC and other microtransactions is a direct counterargument to that. Barely anything is really happening apart from the semi-monthly passes and the odd costume here and there. I don't really count the season passes since those are basically mandatory and already pre-planned.

Which is really odd, especially with SF6 where there has been a vocal part of the fanbase demanding more stuff to buy.

Unless they added a massive amount of additional buyable content now with S3. I didn't check the ingame store.

That's true. Probably a skeleton crew all around. Always pretty surprising with SF6 considering that game did well, yet they've done barely anything besides new characters. Although its nowhere close to T8's trashfire.

S3 added the season pass which has reused assets (like "Alisa inspired hair"), and they added T6 Leo and Zombie Bryan. So mostly just reused assets sold back to you.

i guess you can say that DSP outlived another one.

all the other fighting games are not like tekken y u do dis bamco. i dont wanna play any other fighting game, they all equally suck ass too.

At least with the 2D games, there’s a kind of baseline for how they work aside from Netherrealm shit. Every single 3D fighting game series is radically different from each other. I go from SF to some of the anime game, at least you still default to crouch block and the throws work more or less the same. You go from Tekken to VF or Soul Calibur and you’re probably eating shit for months.

i love virtua fighter, if it wasnt for the sweating japs. i have a harder time playing anything else.

Another patch has arrived, and this one is surprisingly positive. Essentially heat got nerfed (almost like it was a mistake): Heat dash combos removed from many moves, and heat moves often cost more heat, enough that you can only use them once if you heat burst. Indirect nerf to heat burst, since with engage you can use one of the nerfed moves and heat smash.

So what's the reception for this patch? A bit variable. Hwoarang specialist, Edge, is certainly not happy. There is definitely positive reception from some (Arslan Ash, various streamers). Makes it apparent how things got to this point if people make such a big deal when every character got at least a nerf (minus Shaheen because even the devs forgot him).

Still plenty stupid stuff, even with heat. Heat G-clefs like Drag's 1,2,1 is amazing, and wallsplats from super far. Every character could probably use more nerfs. But it was good enough to make some of the people with stockholm syndrome happy.

I just want to state for the record that not just Tekken, but (fighting) games as a whole made a fatal mistake bugchasing the FGC and streamers.

Reject Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 modernity. Embrace M.U.G.E.N. tardtradition.

Surprisingly quite good EVO Top 8, with characters like Kazuya. A Kaz winning is very surprising.

They are announcing the last character before Kuni comes out at Combo Breaker. Sales must be low so it will probably be some guest to get non Tekken players playing, or some huge fan favorite that should've been base roster like Julia. Speaking of Kuni, her gameplay got shown and its particle heaven, will just have to see how bad she ends up being.
