We got a bunch of news, courtesy of fucking EVO.

RAVEN IS BACK. I guess people didn't like Master Raven much so we got the Wesley Snipes Ninja back.


(I think the announcer almost choked on their tongue in this one. )

I have to admit, I am actually just a teeny weeny bit hyped for the game now. Raven looks fun to use.

And we also got a new face. Azucena Ortiz. MMA fighter and coffeeholic from Peru.


Apparently, she got a brewage rivalry with Lily. Tea or coffee, place your bets. She looks...interesting in her gameplay but my god, her personality. She's literally just the demonic love baby of Christie and Josie (minus the crying) and then Tekken 3-4 Ling Xiaoyu added her sperm alongside twitch thot Julia.

Hmm. There's some familiar faces which I'm pretty happy with (rip Bob and Miguel) and some I can't really figure out.

Who's the person under Kaz? Is that even a girl? The person under that looks like Alisa.

Who is the person next to Kaz? He's kinda cool looking. Who is the person under Jin? Looks like Lee. I hope it's not devil Jin, fuck him.

Who is the person next to Raven? Looks like... Zafina? Maybe? Who is the person next to Kuma? Looks like GIGAS and if so, why? We already have a big beefy unwieldy tank in JACK.

Kuma looking like a furry mix of Heihachi and Ryu. I suppose it makes sense given that he's mostly just been a brown bear with a red scarf and Panda got all kinds of shit in 7.

Dragunov looks great! I really wasn't a fan of his default look in 7 so I'm glad he looks cool again.

Shaheen got a very better outfit too. I quite like it. Reminds me a little bit of the Prince of Persia but it's way cooler than his first look.

Goddamn, Yoshi looks badass. It's probably nostalgia but I've never liked the weird squid shit he had in 7. For me, he looks best when he's a demonic samurai.

I still have to get adjusted to the bare feet.

All the belts make her look like a goddamn Nomura character.

If anything, she doesn't look like Rock Howard anymore at least even if I have a soft spot for that outfit.

Dragunov's Tekken 7 outfit made me want to play him. I liked his beret and he looked less like a hunching Igor. This new one looks alright, but I've already decided to earnestly try out Kazuya this time.

The rest of the outfits look fine to me though. The squid Yoshi was cool, but my favourite design was Tekken 3 and this reminds me of it. I honestly hope Kuma gets a good redesign this time - feels like the fidelity of their game engine is decided by how good the bears look and feel.

The announcer is still cancer, nothing new there, mispronounced Feng's name but so does the character select voice so it's just a minor nitpick.

My boy talks a lot more than in previous games, minus Tekken 5. Takes some getting used to again even if I don't mind.

Now give me Miguel and my favorite fatass and I shall be a happy camper.

Edit: Unrelated, but it's curious to me how pleased I am with Tekken and KOF as opposed to Mortal Kombat 1 which just fills me with dread, annoyance, and Schadenfreude.
 
Along with my MK binge I played more tekken over the summer. 3 so far is my favorite and I can see why it's so popular. Tried 7 for a bit and while I didn't hate it something didn't click with me for it.

I think it's one of the earlier games to dip into that though, I remember they wanted to "fix" Thunder by meeting with Indians to make him more culturally sensitive or some shit. Can you imagine what they'd do today?

Well shit. That sounds like a nightmare scenario.

Let's say hand it over the the Japanese but not Arc Systems. I lost faith in them after Guilty Gear.

And I haven't even played that shit yet.
