If we haven't crossed the line with Leeroy the DEI character yet (and girlboss Lydia), we're going to see some p2w characters because Anna seems OP.

I wanna know what shit these devs were smoking with this update, and if i could have some.
Harada and Murray realized they can make shit and still get lambos (and tranny hookers for Mike's case) as long as shills like Maximiliandood and Mainman do their jobs and the fgc continues to support slop and slimy monetization. Harada has no problem obeying Bamco corporate either if Bamco wants to turn Tekken into a woke slopfest full of p2w monetization.

Mr Tekken has said several times Anna is one of the most popular and among least played characters in tekken. Ive bought her, being the only one Ive any interest in, so I can play her in 3 years when 2.0 drops and it'a worthwhile.

Thought Lydia was supposed to just be a reference to the Witcher games (she's Polish and bears some resemblance to Ciri) rather than be a girlboss. Did they change her characterization from when she was first created? I remember her initially being a very strictly-disciplined martial artist but also far more of an overly serious dork than you'd expect a national leader to be---like one of her win anims was freaking out that she might have seriously injured her opponent and she starts dialing an ambulance.

as long as shills like Maximiliandood and Mainman
Maximilian went fairly hard on the patch in a recent stream so I give him a bit of a break. Mainman loves the taste of Harada/Murray cock though. Fun fact: in a stream today he said anyone who uses the word shill is an incel. He also tried to justify Murray blocking people on Twitter for reasonable constructive criticism like a pussy faggot.

Important reminder that the last good 🅱️leppen game was Dark Resurrection. Well, good is underselling it, it was fucking kino.

What's the name of this Tekken instrumental that goes something like : "wa-ka WHOA....." repeatedly?

It plays on this first match of the video.

Considering as far as I've seen Mainman is now playing SF6, I guess its hard to keep defending the patch when you actually have to play it. I. The funny thing is that its not just bad changes, there's also bugs. There is the Paul unblockable bug, the Jack Make some Noise "bug" (probably was just stupidly overtuned), and now Anna can both transfer moves to other characters or use other characters' moves. I would be curious as to how many changes could even be considered good.

I mean, as a pretty new player, one of the most annoying matchups is Hworang for the constant pressure. Making a bunch of other characters have such pressure is probably a pretty big wall for new players. Offensive focus doesn't mean we need anime fighter blockstrings.

For the community side, there is a boycott website. Don't think one of these online petitions has ever been successful, plus you can just not play a game if it's bad, but I guess that's at least something besides complaining on social media.

>If you want to play TEKKEN, TEKKEN 7 is still an option, and it's actually gaining popularity thanks to the disastrous updates to TEKKEN 8. Or, maybe take a complete break from TEKKEN. If you stream TEKKEN, stop and switch to something else. If you're a viewer, stop watching TEKKEN 8 content altogether. Don’t watch official tournaments. Don’t post about it. Just boycott it. The extent of your involvement is up to you, but remember: the more action you take, the greater the impact.
I mean I get what they're trying to say, but there are so many other things wrong with this, I don't even know where to begin
  • First of all, why is Tekken 7 the ONLY other Tekken game that people should play instead? Have the classics really been deemed as unworthy from the "community"? I get the fighting system might be night and day from the PS1/2 era, but at least show some respect regarding where you came from and what made you become a fan of the games in the first place.
  • "If you stream TEKKEN, stop and switch to something else." is a line that really didn't have much thought put into it. A good chunk of streamers, especially in the FGC, are going to just steam the next current-year shitty slop from another company (e.g. Capcom SF6), which is not going to solve the bottom line issue and make your point across. Companies are just going to see an uptick on those pieces of shit and go "oh O.K. I guess we should make our games more like THOSE then" which is just going to make the situation 10x worse. If you're a streamer, or even a YouTuber, what you really should be doing is going back to the older Tekken games and explain why those games worked and why 8 doesn't. The things that were positive about the older games while shunning things that Namco-Bandai should be avoiding like the plague. Because let's face it... the execs have their heads so far up their own asses that they need this shit to be explained to them like they were 2 years old.
  • "Don’t watch official tournaments" - Hasn't the tourny scene been dying for quite some time? And didn't COVID make things worse? I don't think anyone has to worry about this.

Just a modern convenience thing I've seen people play TTT2 or T5DR, but there's obviously more hoops to jump through compared to just booting up T7. People do call for the older Tekkens to get re-released, but I doubt that is happening anytime soon.

Do agree with streaming something else point. I've seen a few SF6 players telling the Tekken players, "if you don't like 50/50s, you probably shouldn't play this game."

Tekken 8 Character Changes
There's also some other system wide changes, like 200 health, but I'm not sure where those notes are.

Obvious band-aid fixes, I do think they need to re-evaluate their direction. Make sure they know what the characters weaknesses are supposed to be. Chip damage is also still way high, its supposed to be chip damage. Compare how much a super in like SF3 chips to one move in T8. There aren't really any changes in the wrong direction (besides maybe health) but it doesn't help that much for homogenization. At least the game won't have as much bugs.

As for other Tekken games, T5DR/T6/TTT2 have had a little bit of a resurgence through RPCN using RPCS3. Issue of course being that input lag can be an issue, and going back to delay-based netcode is a bit tough after playing rollback. The fact that it's at least possible and exists is nice. TTT2 is the most popular by a bit, but at most it gets to about 100 players. Nice to see at least.

Ooh, so the leak is likely correct after all, and the next two returning characters are
Marduk and Armored King
.
>dogshit mma character that will either bring another leroy tier dark age
>and lesser king who was so dogshit in 7 not even buffs could save him
Ebin, simply ebin, maybe another jordan collab can save kekken 8.

Unless they are trying to "gotcha" people with the new character being a disgraced AK/Marduk with a major overhaul, not sure how that can be true. First 3 chars of the season were returning, last is supposed to be new. I can imagine releasing one this season and the other next season (after all, people expected Fahk last season).

Knee winning EVO was nice, and he did quite well despite T8 S2. Unfortunate no Pakistanis made it, but that's just the world.

Patches are coming on May 13th and June 3rd. Major goals for the 13th patch is tuning down oppressive moves (or at least looping situations) and combo damage. For combos, I think combo length is the issue rather than damage. Certain characters have too much damage, but its worse that you can get combo'd for 30 seconds. Do wish I could see what Fahk was supposed to be like before they probably panicked due to S2 being awful.
