He’s gonna be guard break o’clock. Fuck that.Me nigger. I don't give a fuck how over the top and corny his design is, he looks like a Baki character and that's badass. Besides, Muay Thai should be represented by a Thai person not a generic black dude from the US.
The Pac Man stuff looks kind of cool but i am not hyped for it. There's nothing in that Spring and Summer trailer to really be hyped for but the shills i am sure are blasting away for the opportunity to pay for Fahkum again. You just know Fahk's in because he was cheap to port over. When you prioritize the company's needs above all else, you literally can't give people what they want. I've been here from Tekken 1 but I feel I'm gonna bail to Virtua Fighter at this point. I hear Akira's really not that hard to learn and he's full of cheap BS.
More floaty capes, more anime designs, more samebody characters, more eye cancer effects, less martial arts, good luck capturing a zoomer audience I guess. Far as I know they fucking hate fighting games. I get that they enjoy flowcharting people to death, but making that the meta is just gonna make all of the old guard fuck off to other genres.
The party has never been more over. 10 dudes watching EVO Japan and a collective sigh on Fahkumram reveal. But hey, get hyped for Karate Kid ads in game, I guess.
The real King of Iron Fist Tournament was the Chipotle we Doordashed along the way.
I know this is the Tekken 8 thread and I'm about to talk about The Better FG Series, but I never got that "You need a PhD to be able to play Akira" memes. Most other characters, especially ones which force you to play defensively like Aoi or Kage, are way harder to play. Although they did rebalance him in VF5REVO so he doesn't break nitaku anymore, his 6P+K+G guard break used to lead into a free launcher, now it's just +13. His greatest weakness, which is that he has a very linear moveset, is still completely sidestepped by the fact that he has the 2nd best throw game and throws in VF are fully circular.I've been here from Tekken 1 but I feel I'm gonna bail to Virtua Fighter at this point. Speaking of VF, which characters would you recommend for someone that’s very pokey in their gameplan?I know this is the Tekken 8 thread and I'm about to talk about The Better FG Series, but I never got that "You need a PhD to be able to play Akira" memes. Probably just a meme from Capcuck mongoloids that went way too far.
Quite frankly, a lot of characters can be played that way. The best ones for a pokey and aggressive playstyle would be Sarah, Jacky, Pai, Eileen, Lion, Brad and Lau. Kage can be played that way too as he is one of the 3 characters that has an 11 frame jab rather than the universal 12 frame jab, but he is very technical and difficult, with a lot of his moves being very situational but also very devastating for those particular situations. Akira could be played that way too but he relies more on frame traps.Speaking of VF, which characters would you recommend for someone that’s very pokey in their gameplan?
I was thinking about Lau and Pai because I play Feng and Xiaoyu in Tekken. My main concern with Lau is that he’s presumably going to be dead in 6.Quite frankly, a lot of characters can be played that way. I think that's the beauty of VF, a lot of characters do have their own gimmicks and a loosely defined playstyle, but they can be played many different ways. Homestay is known for playing a very aggressive Akira but someone like Joseph plays Akira much more tightly and defensively.
super! my friends are coming back to tekken just in time for me to not care about tekkenOoh, so the leak is likely correct after all, and the next two returning characters are.Marduk and Armored King
To be fair, I believe the empty seats was more of the venue screwing up, since I know some people were standing in the back while all the chairs were open. I believe it was a "VIP" section. Doesn't change that the game is doing poorly and Fahk is an awful choice (although I think Bruce would be really annoying too, though at least he'd have nostalgia factor).
Quite sad, not sure why collabs need to be everywhere. I will say that I respect the 3rd Strike and Melee communities for keeping those games alive. Not sure if its because its difficult, but while I hear T5 is amazing and all that, I haven't seen much of people trying to keep it alive. You just know Fahk's in because he was cheap to port over. Probably a bit of dissonance since Akira is the main character, kinda looks like Ryu, and yet is way more complicated than a Shoto. Probably just bundled in with VF feelings as well. I hope VF6 does well and I'll watch for it, but I don't have high hopes. From what I've seen, VF5 is pretty difficult to learn, which leads to it being a discord fighter. Either VF6 dumbs everything down quite a bit like other modern fighters, or it probably won't get players. After all, COTW got talked up a ton, yet its at about 1k players while Tekken 8 is at about 3.4k and SF6 at about 7.4k (based on SteamDB).I know this is the Tekken 8 thread and I'm about to talk about The Better FG Series, but I never got that "You need a PhD to be able to play Akira" memes. It's a valid enough concern but historically every single character always appeared in the following games, well except for Taka in 4 but it's not like they didn't want to include him, he was literally too fat for them to implement in 4's engine. Not exaggerating or anything, they couldn't figure out how to authentically implement him for 4 and vanilla 5 (vanilla 5 was VF 4.5 it's crazy how different the later revisions are compared to it), he made his grand return in 5R.I was thinking about Lau and Pai because I play Feng and Xiaoyu in Tekken. My main concern with Lau is that he’s presumably going to be dead in 6.
If you really like poking then I'd highly recommend trying out Lion. That's pretty much his whole gimmick, annoying fast little fucker with good lows and pokes in general.Speaking of VF, which characters would you recommend for someone that’s very pokey in their gameplan?
I don't think Tekken is trying a new generation, at least compared to SF6. A bunch of the SF6 characters are pretty clearly related to past characters (like Jamie to Yun/Yang, Kimberly to Guy, etc.), while I think the only "replacement" character was Reina for Heihachi which clearly wasn't too pushed yet with Hei returning. I think it's just sunk cost fallacy of "we made these characters for 7, they were ass, let's try again" and failing each time because the foundation was faulty. Makes a bit of sense with Leroy just being super overtuned being the major reason people hated him in comparison to the other late T7 characters.Lidia dropping in T8 led to a comment saying "Of the last 3 tekken dlcs, lidia is 2". They're really trying to push this 'next generation' shit akin how Street Fighter does, except Luke seems to stick around whereas previous attempts at dethroning Ken failed. What even is the generation of Tekken? Sure as shit aint Sneakerhead Joe & Co anymore. People talk primarily of all the chicks at this point. Oh yeah, the valorant/kpop cashgrab Reina. "We need a boss babe AND she has to be stronger than the white men who made the franchise!".
That's just getting rid of all the heat stuff basically as huge plus frames into pachinko is the reason why heat exists and it's T8s's charm. They'll never get rid of it oc, but it's fun to see how the backlash got so big they were forced to tone it down somewhat.People want to remove the gambling
I can certainly see that, although in my opinion at least you have to hit a heat engager. One move that they nerfed I assume was because of 50/50 situations was Heihachis WR 1+2 (the jumping headbutt), where landing it before gave you a mid or a high guardbreak for free. Now you can jab to beat any buttons besides grab from stance. So I guess Hei and Kazuya are probably some of the more fun characters to fight right now, considering they actually got some decent nerfs last patch. That's just getting rid of all the heat stuff basically as huge plus frames into pachinko is the reason why heat exists and it's T8s's charm. Still, the Fuckyourmom reveal was just a huge L, they just glued a flower crown on his T7 model and went "6 dolla again, don't ask me for shit" lmao.
Lucky Chloe would have caused a shit show that would make Fuckyourmom's look mild. No one defends Chloe. The only more divisive character would've been a 2D character, but at least that would've had the positives of collabs and appealing to casuals.
