i highly doubt vf6 will change anything, since vf5 ultimate showdown is infested with hikkikomoris, didnt really wanna play after 2 hours when i promoted to first dan and getting wrecked against highly skilled japs with 300 ping.

It never became "the" fighting game because the FGC is apparently incapable of having a "main" game that isn't Street Fighter. Whenever Smash was in Evo (pre 2020), it was one of the highest viewed games (if not the highest). There was a massive rift of hostility between the Smash Scene and the "normal" FGC.I see it rather as a subgenre than an innovation but okay. The problem I have here is that Smash never managed to become "the" fighting game esport. It could have established itself as an entry game and staple at major events for over two decades now. Not to mention the "lack " of influence on the genre. It might have spawned its own spinoffs, but the core idea of casual simplicity doesn't seem to have played a major role for fighting games. Of course, the Smash community has an awful reputation which probably scared off casuals and Nintendo, but if this was the gateway to fighting games the question is why it or its ideas never managed to be a major influence ? Too early to benefit from the massive scale of the FGC ? No arcade scene ? Nintendo exclusive ?
I guess the big connector between the 2 is nerfed movement, because T7 is the most defensive Tekken while T8 is the most offensive. If you watch T8 Arslan, he plays Nina which is probably one of the few characters that can lockdown with pokes. If you think about it, it was made for Pakis and Jeets since 7. Didn't Arslan get big during 7? Most of the time you would hear about Knee, Anakin, Aris, or JDCR.
I dunno. It was at least a rivalry, considering both had the whole "tough guy" persona, though I think for Harada it was more of an act.I doubt he cared for Itagaki that much. I could be wrong, but I think it's more that Tekken is beyond fucked, and since Harada is the face of the series he willingly or unwillingly stepped down.
We will see. As of right now I know Killer Instinct, DoA5, and sorta Fighting EX Layer ($1) tried the F2P model, but I suppose those are probably more niche than 2XKO.We will see with 2XKO how a big F2P fighting game will perform
It could be in theory. I will be very surprised if it is though. Sega has to nail online, which at least did not have a good start for VF5's re-release. We'll have to see if VF6 has single player content, because it didn't seem like 5 had much. On top of that, from what little footage we have seen definitely has a cinematic aspect. At the very least there is the system shown where part of your opponent glows red and you get (likely) a cutscene for hitting them during. So even the small teaser we got is already implying they are throwing in essentially the wound system from MonHun Wilds. Here's the trailer again for a refresher.I think VF6 could be an interesting turning point.
2xko has been hit and miss for anyone who isn't a sjw shill like Max or Sajam. Apparently, one of their weekend tournaments was a bust.We will see. As of right now I know Killer Instinct, DoA5, and sorta Fighting EX Layer ($1) tried the F2P model, but I suppose those are probably more niche than 2XKO.

I forgot Harada was involved with SC since 4. He did Soul Calibur dirty.I don't think Tekken is going to do well post-Harada, to bring it back to the point. There will almost certainly be a Tekken 9, but highly unlikely that Soul Calibur gets a 7 and doubtful that Tekken 9 changes anything or is any good. I do wonder if he's going to do anything with Fighting Games post Namco exit, or even games in general.
That's (mostly) why my youngest son kicks my ass at SF6, I never really graduated much past SF3 in terms of their mechanics. He knows all that new shit inside and out, but pops still plays like it's the 90s, lol. But when we hop on the old games... I show him what's up.SF3 and MVC2 have a certain amount of execution to them, but the actual gameplay systems are very (in a good way) barebones. You can explain very easily to someone what a SF3 parry is and why it's good (It's a better defensive option then blocking that's also higher risk) vs something like Drive Parry being designed in a specific way to force a specific playstyle and outcome (the game punishing you for blocking).
Wasn't that just the case for multiplatform game ? Not that XBOX had any real chance to become the premier console for fighting games again. But Smash is an exclusive, so I wonder if that's the case and an actual stipulation. They never invested in tournaments and then Sony (their direct competition) bought a stake in EVO and forced all games to be run on PS5s, removing Smash from being a possibility.
EVO and EWorld Sports Cup or what ever it's called aside, what about the smaller independent tournaments ? Nintendo could start anew with a push for Smash to be entrenched in the community and finance cups, players or its own just Smash tournament. Like you said, it's a successful franchise, so I doubt it's a lack of players. They never invested in tournaments and then Sony (their direct competition) bought a stake in EVO and forced all games to be run on PS5s, removing Smash from being a possibility.
Smash is a pretty massive influence (and ironically the best crossover game now that Tekken, SF, and KOF have characters in it) and a massive success of game not designed with esports in mind.
Isn't that Invincible game made by a new independent studio ? Haven't followed anything about it since I don't care about the IP, but maybe they are trying something else ?hope on some level there is an actual resurgence, but I think Fighting Games are in the place of Turn Based RPGs right now - where anything good that's going to happen won't be from some massive studio pumping out the same shit year after year and instead will have to be from someone "outside" (
Only a couple of months and we will see what happens. Though I hope that the gameplay side gets better. Pretty sure Harada said that there was no one left at Bamco that would spearhead a new SC.I don't think Tekken is going to do well post-Harada, to bring it back to the point. There will almost certainly be a Tekken 9, but highly unlikely that Soul Calibur gets a 7 and doubtful that Tekken 9 changes anything or is any good.
We might get a good indicator once an alpha or beta will be available and how people will respond to the more grounded game and the presence/absence of modern fighting game systems. It could be in theory. I will be very surprised if it is though
Smash tournaments are fairly popular in most scenes I've been to, to a point where the only tournaments I've seen in the last ~5 years were Smash but I'm not hugely invested.EVO and EWorld Sports Cup or what ever it's called aside, what about the smaller independent tournaments ? Nintendo could start anew with a push for Smash to be entrenched in the community and finance cups, players or its own just Smash tournament. Like you said, it's a successful franchise, so I doubt it's a lack of players.
A tranny is on the development team. The game is fucked. Also, Invincible is overrated, woke shit loved by fags who don't read comics. Not sorryIsn't that Invincible game made by a new independent studio ? Haven't followed anything about it since I don't care about the IP, but maybe they are trying something else ?
Majority of tie in games aren't the best, so IDK why people were hyped for Nen Impact, Invincible, and Avatar. I know Invincible has a Tekken personality involved (Rip?) but who knows how much say or if what he says is good.A tranny is on the development team. The game is fucked. Bitch, you’re a FGC personality. More specifically, you’re a quasi-retired personality that never really went anywhere. I swear Hworangs are almost as bad as the Mishima elitists.Majority of tie in games aren't the best, so IDK why people were hyped for Nen Impact, Invincible, and Avatar. Forgot to post before: Harada had a music mix for his farewell.
Ex-pro player Speedkicks made a video on spacing. He also made a tweet that might be talking about Metokur. I'm only assuming because one of the few things I know about Metokur is being a hat merchant, so if anyone knows more let me know.
Speaking of, for qualifications to Tekken World Tour, the top 4 is Mulgold, Arslan, Atif, and Farzeen. Mulgold is a bit surprising to me since while he's no slouch I didn't think he was too dominant either.
unsurprising. predictably dumbed it down for league retards and made it boring as fuck as a result. unironic masher fighter2xko has been hit and miss for anyone who isn't a sjw shill like Max or Sajam. Apparently, one of their weekend tournaments was a bust.
the invincible comic is one of my favorites, idk why they felt the need to fuck up the show so much. and what's with all the tag fighters lately? 2xko, the marvel shit, invincible. 2xko is a flop, no one liked marvel, predicting invincible is gonna be shit too. all the fighters in this ps5/xsx generation have been absolute shit except for maybe slime fighter (but let's be honest sf6 is shit too)Invincible is overrated, woke shit loved by fags who don't read comics. Not sorry
time to committ sudoku now? harada lava nosedive livestream when?
Not surprising, because the people who gambled on S2 clearly lost. I look forward to hearing about S3 with TWT at the end of this month, just to see how they recapture any audience before this becomes more of a failing than TTT2. I really hope at least one 3d fighter survives, but who knows.View attachment 8399023View attachment 8399025
Nobody wants to play this game (or any of these games), lol.
Despite complaints from people who actually play fighting games, Blackrock Fighter 6 is still accessible to normies and grifters of all kinds. Modern mode makes and breaks characters like Viper, who used to be a technical af character in her SF4 days. You got vtumors, Japanese gravure models, and DSP at Master rank because the Blackrock 6's rank system is a joke.Real question is how SF6 is so high, especially since the complaints have started to crop up. I guess because its the least bad of all the options.
he is/was also mighty ruler on tekken 8 which is insane.and DSP at Master rank because the Blackrock 6's rank system is a joke.
Despite Capcom's corporate fuckery the core gameplay's "mostly" alright afaik, unlike Tekken that hasn't nerfed Anna after 9 fucking months bc of their gay ass, barely 100 people, competitive community lmaoReal question is how SF6 is so high, especially since the complaints have started to crop up. I guess because its the least bad of all the options.
That’s not a particularly good rank to be fair.he is/was also mighty ruler on tekken 8 which is insane.
