That scene looks great, but I never liked the music that went with it. It sounded a little generic to me, but worse than that, out of place. John and Kate were safe, but 3 billion people still died. I would've used something a little more dire, solemn or melancholic if it were me.
Speaking of music choice, I don't think I've ever heard a more distinctly accomplished composer like Brad Fiedel. This scene is probably the best chase sequence ever filmed in large part because of Brad's composition:
Are there any other chases sequences in film as good or as memorable as this one? The horse chase in True Lies doesn't count.
In case you ever wanted to listen to the track behind that scene, Python Blue recomposed it using the original CMI Fairlight computer Brad used for T2. Check it out:

That recomposed track sounds amazing. The first two Terminator films really do have outstanding soundtracks. One of my favorites is “Reese Dreams of Future War” from The Terminator.
The guy clearly has never watched TSCC. The show is about Sarah raising her son to become the leader of mankind (at least until the twist in the last episode). The actor did a great job.
"You wanted it to be real."
"Or maybe I wanted to win."
"You didn't want to be John Baum. You wanted to be John Connor."
"Well, that's just it, isn't it? I am John Connor."
Speaking of Terminator soundtracks, Bear McCreary did a pretty good job on TSCC. I remember reading his blog at the time where he was explaining the entire process, he spend weeks recording every metallic sound possible, from every size of oil drums to chains.
The Cromartie theme echoes Fiedel's "Escape from the Hospital" from T2.
The most insane track is by far the Motorcycle Robot Chase:
It's been a while since I watched that show. The Robot Chase theme gives me heavy Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward vibes; it takes a bit to get into, but by the 2 minute mark the rhythmic THUM THUM settles in and I'm into it, right before the 10 second cacophany of of dial-up tones thrown in a blender.
I kinda like it. Maybe I'll rewatch T:SCC after TF comes out and reevaluate my opinion. It's okay/10 is how I feel about it.
I had no idea that there was a director's cut of Salvation somewhat recently released. I'll always defend Salvation as being the least-bad of all of the Cameron-less sequels. Maybe because this is the only one that focuses entirely on the future war and isn't about time travel? We all wanted a future war movie afterall so maybe I'm a little lenient towards it for that reason? I'm watching it now and shall edit and report back after finishing the director's cut.
I am reminded of this interview with McG (the same director of those terrible Charlies Angels movies):
Its been rather quiet on the McG vs Michael Bay front, but all that is about to change. The last time we posted an update on this was in February, when McG
www.firstshowing.net
"Michael Bay has a big cock," McG says to Men's Style. "But I'd like to believe mine is bigger." McG smiles. "If he's up for it, we can both reveal ourselves on the Spartacus steps at Universal and put the question to rest."
That quote was brought up to James Cameron in an interview (I can't find the link) and he said "That's the stupidest fucking thing you could ever say."
I think the big difference with the DC is that they say Fuck more than once and it has some titties. McG being a very classy individual about the nude scene here:
I'm surprised McG wasn't MeToo'd.
Edit: aside from the brief tit shot there's really nothing of note for the director's cut of Salvation.
Terminator DF is another fucking joke of a Terminator to pretend this franchise didnt end back in T2 and anything meant to continue it (or at least continue in the present) is a fucking waste of time and money.
James being "involved" in this doesnt fucking matter, he barely influenced it (he never visited set ONCE) and dont get me started on the joke that is Tim Miller (he makes one overrated okay ish deadpool movie and everyone acts lik he is a genius), he already started insulting fans that dont like Grace (he couldnt at least wait for the movie to bomb first?).
I feel like its like SW Ep 9...deep down they know its going to suck but they gotta hide it and find something to blame for its failure.
I would say "terminator is dead" but lets face it, it has been since 1991 and everyone knows it.

Finally I meet someone who thinks that, while flawed, Salvation was an okay movie that deserved to be continued and improved on it. Salvation is one of those movies that I like/love but everyone hates...but with Dark Fate being ANOTHER T2 copy, I think people are starting to appreciate the originality (in comparison to the other sequels) in it. It just needs a R rating and not shy away from gore.
I honestly think that Salvation should have focused more on John instead of Marcus (tho I never minded Marcus that much, he was an alright character that just needed more developtment). A sequel to Salvation should have John mentoring Kyle, with the former knowing that this is the closest to his father he is ever going to get...and that maybe in the third movie (where Kyle resembles more his T1 self, they can afford a look alike with CGI to help), its where we get the big farewell between them both as John knows that this is the only way to preserve the future if not saving it altogether (even if he knows he will die in the end...). Of course, it goes full circle and the bad future is avoided in T2 and they get to live happily ever after (including us that dont have to get any more movie sequels to this dead franchise).
Felt like this direction would have more heart, drama and investment than trying to copy T2 a-fucking-gain.
Dark Fate is destined to fail right down to its concept, saying T2 was pointless with John being fucking killed in the opening...so every sacrifice was for nothing (including the T2's T-800's heartwrenching one...). Bringing Arnie back wont change a thing (there is a rumor he only agree to return because that would help him with making another Conan movie, which Im down for if they keep it manly and violent).
Salvation would have been so much better if they hadn't given the Marcus twist away at the beginning. And in the trailer. Also, the original ending was supposed to be that John Connor was killed, and Marcus would get his face grafted and Dread Pirate Roberts JC.
It also has an extended universe. There are 3 novels for salvation outside of the film novelization itself. The primer book, From the Ashes, is some pretty decent world building, and Cold War is pretty brutal. The third one, Trial by Fire got pretty weird.
Apparently this film is meant to be the TRUE AND HONEST sequel to Terminator 2,with all the other ones being alternate realities. If this film is the canon sequel, then we are some real shit. John's not there, the Terminator they have pursuing the whammen is uninspired in its human appearance, doesn't have the same vibes as Arnie or Rob Patrick's performances, and the original cast look old and done with the franchise.

Oh wait, I thought Genysis was meant to be the TRUE AND HONEST sequel to the first two movies, at least it carried the spirit! (James and Arnie said so, aka, their words dont mean jackshit when promoting movies)
Im really fucking tired that everytime they fail to kick off another trilogy (because it needs to be a trilogy, T2 was the best third entry ever!...wait a minute), they backtrack, start over and say that this, no wait, guys THIS time its for real, the TRUE sequel to T2!
....
....
okay forget that one, now THIS is the true real extra truthy one! Bring Arnie b- what you mean he died of old age?!
Semi old news. Cameron had a deal with Skydance for more Terminator movies. It does open Pandora's Box of course but I doubt this will stop more remakes/sequels from happening.
Who are these even for? Terminator 1 and 2 were great action movies. Great action movies are still being made and people still watch and enjoy these without a need of some regurgitated name and a 86 year old post-menopausal female lead.
people who buy shit on name alone. it's cheaper to make a shit movie in an established brand than trying to make a good movie in a unknown brand that might or might not take off.
