Dear God! What did I just watch? Not only were the leaks true, they fucking killed off John Connor! I can't believe it but it is what it is. Even if they wanted to change the story and create new characters; killing John Connor was just wrong to do.
They finally did it:
There's a more complete version here from the same guy's YT channel.
He didnt have creative input on the project. BUT because they paid him he will say he did and say he thinks this is JUST GREAT [because he doesnt have the time to make a Terminator flick]
No, he was definitely a part of the writer's room. He handed the 5 of them a story treatment and they worked with it from there, reviewing it with him as they went along. Even before that, he sat down with Ellison & Miller and brainstormed what the movie would be about. I'm sure notes went back and forth between him and the
Deadline said:That intrigue snowballed into engaged interest and then intensifying enthusiasm. Then the big question was about cast: What about Hamilton and Schwarzenegger? Cameron and Ellison huddled with Tim Miller, the Deadpool director who had already been brought aboard to helm the next Terminator film (when the plan was a sequel to Terminator Genisys from 2017) and the three gnawed away at the possibilities. A quick consensus formed: everyone wanted the return of Sarah Connor but only if Hamilton returned to play the part herself.
So at the very least, he signed off on killing John Connor in the first 2 minutes, not even the first 5 minutes. We didn't even get to hear them talk.
This is the most shameless, barebones bait-and-switch tactic I've ever seen carried out in a film in recent memory. The whiplash in theatres is gonna be traumatic for some thinking they'll finally get to see Eddie Furlong's John again.
Honestly, Terminator 1 was one of a kind and even 2 kinda went off the road in being more of a pew-pew generic hollywood action movie than anything else, it was just very well executed at that. I honestly don't really care about autistic integrity of old memories if killing John takes the entire thing in an interesting direction, but it doesn't really sound like it does. I pulled the camera rip and might watch it, might wait for a better one, tho.
Where do you go after shotgunning 11-year-old John in the chest, 2 minutes into your movie?
