Terror Trouble in Orlando

Orlando blood bank is lifting its ban on gay blood donors. Sounds like they're desperate.

Ha! You know all sorts of bans are fucking ridiculous when you're about to snap at someone with a "it's not fucking funny" and then smartly Google before doing so. So sorry I was about to snarl at you. And that's actually really interesting information. I wonder if they'll keep it that way.

ISIS love free publicity, you can bet that if a Muslim stole sandwiches from a Church gathering they'd probably jump on board and call the man a heroic jihadi.

ISIS itself has not made an official statement, but supporters are praising the attack.

ISIS supporters on the group’s forum are celebrating the deadly shooting in Orlando, where suspected gunman Omar Mateen killed 50 people inside a gay nightclub early Sunday morning. The deadly attack, they note, comes just a few weeks after an ISIS spokesperson called for followers to kill Americans during Ramadan.

ISIS has not yet released an official response to the attack, but users on one of the main ISIS forums were openly pleased with the violence. “Oh America, you will not sleep and shut an eye as long as there are Mujahedeen. May God will bless you my brother and grant you with heaven,” wrote one supporter. Said another, “Allah Akbar, the target is a place for deviant people, who also known as homosexuals.”

As one ISIS supporter pointed out, the Florida shooting follows ISIS spokesman Abu Muhammad al-Adnani’s most recent speech, in which al-Adnani called upon “soldiers and supporters of the Caliphate in Europe and America” to attack civilians, “spread the terror,” and “open the door of Jihad” in their homes during the holy Muslim month of Ramadan. Another ISIS sympathizer shared images and videos from Orlando and wrote, “there is nothing I love more than the blood of infidels. This is the month of victories and blessings.”

Nothing illegal about having "assault rifles" (I sincerely doubt they are) and tannerite and ammunition. People take tannerite to gun ranges for targets. You mix the two compounds, set it up, shoot it, and it explodes. It's not very good for bombs. It's good for shooting at and making big booms.

What he had was basically guns, ammunition, and targets.

I somewhat doubt that someone with guns in their car with any malice would bring up that they're "in town" for a gay pride event. Not that he was physically going to the event happening scheduled many hours later in the day.

We'll see how it plays out.

I can't believe people are going off about banning guns yet again, despite all of the facts. The guns he bought were ILLEGAL. He bought them off of the black market. All of the gun laws in the world mean nothing when the black market is involved.

Bad guys do not follow the law. You honestly expect someone with ties to ISIS to walk into a gun store, purchase a weaker gun that's heavily taxed and wait several weeks for a background check where they could be profiled? Of course not.

Got the news link for this? The origin of these spree-killers' guns always changes wildly throughout a big event like this, as well as the number of guns, what kind of guns.

Jesus Christ I hope this isn't connected to what happened today.

Well, let's look on the bright side. The police were able to apprehend him before he could hurt anyone. Thank God for that.

While I agree that guns are a serious issue in the United States, it absolutely infuriates me that most of the "BAN ALL GUNS" people always ignore the other factors that go into a mass shooting, such as mental illness and ideological radicalism. Just look at Twitter, most of the Tweets boil down to "GUNS EVIL, MUSLIMS GOOD." Guns are just inanimate objects. Extremely deadly inanimate objects, but still. If we somehow managed to destroy every single gun in the world, it still wouldn't stamp out the underlying ideologies and conditions that drive people to murder.

I think there still nothing concrete (or that he had ties to ISIS beyond internet interaction).

I wouldn't be surprised at all if it is. Media exposure to big events like this will sometimes, sadly, spur people on to do copycat attacks if it means they get attention and 15 minutes of dubious fame, irregardless of their ethnicity and/or ideological beliefs.

It should be noted there is a stark difference between pledging allegiance to ISIS, and actually being supported by them.
What is the effective difference between a lone person arming himself, killing 50 people and wounding 53 more and pledging allegiance to ISIS and ISIS sending someone to kill 50 people and wound 53 more?

If people are being radicalized in the US, inspired by and pledging allegiance to ISIS, ISIS is still a main player perpetuating this.

And you can bet on it that ISIS will support this and publicize this as a victory for them, over the USA, and that more terror attacks of a similar kind are coming.

Glad to see you literally ignored the second half of my post just to yell more.

A coordinated and planed attack like Paris (that required a lot of planing and people) or lone wolfs like San Bernadino.
