Unfortunate to hear the confirmation on Terry's death, but I think we all kind of knew it was true anyway.
In tribute I downloaded the TempleOS archive for study.
Where did the original HolyC compiler come from? I assume Terry wrote it in some dialect of C, built it, fiddled the output into his own filesystem, then permanently "burned" the binary into the setup ISO?

IIRC it all started out with TASM on dos, most likely he started by writing a primitive compiler or assembler and used it to write a more sophisticated version of itself. repeat that enough times and you have bootstrapped a compiler.

The people who directly interacted the most with Terry are weird lainposters from [8]/g/ that hanged out in his livestream chats. It's against the rules to directly contact lolcows in a directly harassing way, so it's lame as fuck to try to accuse KF of doing anything to Terry.

I'd argue the people who interacted with him the most were the people who actually visited him IRL such as the people who interviewed him, the people who took selfies with him, and the people who tried to help him IRL (such as trying to buy him a laptop, giving him a generator when he was living in the van, etc.). The closest thing to a-logs he had were the cunts who got him stream banned from several sites by sending him porn, and it was before this thread got active or even Jim's video. Terry also got prank called a bunch, but it usually involved Terry making a joke of whoever called them.

Just... why did it have to end this soon? I'm trying not to be too much of a silly emotional dumdum, but this was Terry Davis. He had all sorts of talent that put him in a special category beyond pretty much any other person of interest.

He, like Chloe Sagal before him, definitely could have gone to great successes if they weren't held back by severe mental issues. I can only hope on top of leaving behind a meme legacy of Glow-in-the-Dark Central Intelligence African-Americans and realistic elephants, he gets recognized as one of the greats.

A lot of people loved him, in the special way you can only love somebody as out there as Mr. Terry. The longer this goes on without him showing up or any proof to the contrary of these rumours, the more I have to think he's with Mr. God now after being called home.

As for proof, someone on Reddit made a phone call to the police department where it happened, and they confirmed that it was Terry. Sure, someone could create a fake phone call, but it doesn't seem very likely.

One question still does remain for me, though - do we have confirmation on how much this user, @The Temple impersonated Terry, and to what extent (e.g., stealing money under the guise of donating to Terry)? It might be high time for a lolcow thread on him.

As far as we know he only operated the Fake FB account. Other people had control of Terry's website which displayed the donate button. There's suspicion around whether or not all of the money donated to Terry reached him given the enormous amount of information he made visible when streaming, but the only thing it's known for sure he didn't receive funds from is the T-shirts, I think.

I'm not sure there'll ever be satisfactory answers to the questions people still have.
