I like electric motors in principle as they're the factually better motor.
But battery tech still sucks and thanks to Tesla modern interior design sucks.
And let's be honest, an electric motor just doesn't sound as good, either.

VinFast had to already reduce the price of their upcoming 3-row VF9 EV SUV by 10k, to a starting price of $71k. And whoever actually buys one of these, is confirmed a dullard with too much money. It also has the same Tesla-esque minimalistic interior that the VF8 has, which will be a pain to fix once shit starts breaking (the screen being the big one).

It's the manager caste and the tech bros. Tesla did the iPad interior, the tech bros loved it and the manager caste got sold on how innovative and cool it is. Just tell those people something is new and disruptive and they'll clap like seals.
And so all the managers want all iPad interiors and since they're the main target demographic for cars with that kind of price tag, all the car manufacturers had to follow.
Who wants to spend like 70k+ on a car with a shitty minimalist interior and tons of intrusive features no sane person would want? Managers. The kind professionally trained to be managers, not the project managers with a fully technical background. The kind who wear trousers and shirts to the office despite there being no dress code, just because they feel professional. These people love everything that is sold to them in TED talks and will believe that it just takes a bit more R&D and money to solve all the problems.

The minimalist interiors are also designed to cut costs, which also inspired legacy auto makers to do the same with their cars, i.e. the VinFast car interiors, and the Volvo EX30 being so bare minimum that it would pass off as a Tesla interior. And you only get 2 window controls with a capacitive toggle touch point in the EX30, while Teslas at least give you 4 window controls!
