probably a stupid question but in general has EV battery tech advanced since say 2012?

Like you'd assume with every auto maker and start up investing billions that we should have some major advances in this field at least in terms of range. like the 2013 tesla model s 85 kwh model has a range of 250 miles.

surely car companies have improved the efficiency of the cars since then right?

Obviously the charging will be forever fucked, but surely the battery tech allows it to compete with every new model car that has an insane MPG of 40+ now right?

Biggest things I can think of is lithium iron phosphate hitting big production, the recent intro of tabless cells in actual consumer products, and a general improvement in total lifetime cycles in other lithium technologies.

The other horrifying thing about the Cybertruck, is that only the carpet and a bit of foam separates the seating area from the battery pack, and the seats are bolted directly to the battery pack as well, compared to how most other EVs have a steel floor to keep the batteries separate from the carpeting:
I remember the fuck for brains in this video. He was gushing over how Tesla going 48 volt on the Cybertruck was so boundary pushing. It isn't. It's a cost saving measure in every way. Never mind the pants on head retarded idea of having two axle steer by wire.

The restraint on higher voltages was the complexity of 24 and 48 volt lead acid batteries, the fact that it is nigh impossible to electrocute yourself at 12 volts, and if your going to bathe the ground in constant water and electrolytes you better hope the weatherproofing is perfect. The weight reduction is also a joke. Could engineers stop wetting themselves over 30lbs of weight savings on 6000lbs vehicles?

A Cybertruck catches on fire outside of a Bass Pro Shop, after it ran over a fire hydrant and water contacted the battery.

Electric vehicles are top dollar retarded.

It’s basically like buying a car where you’re guaranteed to have to change the engine and transmission in a decade.

You got ICE cars that are 100 years old and running fine. Go out and buy an ICE car today and there’s no reason why it won’t run just fine for 30 years, if you’re not a total retard.

With electric cars though, it’s only a question of time before the battery needs to be replaced. And that’s the most expensive part of the car.

They’re making small increases here and there, but the problem is how effective gasoline or diesel is for storing energy.

(And the efficiency of the engine!)

80-90 kilos of gasoline has as much energy as 1000 kilos of battery.

Unfortunately normies today are consoomers and buy a new car every 3-5 years. The limited lifespan isn't a problem for them, in fact it's a feature.
There is a large subset of people who are permanent chattel slaves to the dealer by leasing cars every 3 years. I had a former co-worker tell me I was loosing money by buying a car and since leasing was so much more affordable. Well I've paid off my car for several years now while he's presumably still leasing and paying $$$ to the dealer every month.

"Bu-bu-bu I always get to drive a relatively new car"

Cucks.

I got to push back hard on this. With car companies putting all sorts of sensors on the medium/high speed CAN the effect of corrosion is ten fold what it used to be.
Imagine your vehicle being incapable of starting because there was water in the rear left brake light assembly.

Back in the day headlights were regulated such that they could only be certain shapes. They were contained units that could be swapped out for fractions of a typical paycheck because everything used the same standard. Now even the fucking lights are a unique shape of plastic lenses and LEDs for aesthetic purposes. Made by the same generation of designers that gave us all of modern software design.

Hate. Let me tell you how much I've come to hate you since I began to live. There are 387.44 million miles of printed circuits in wafer thin layers that fill my complex. If the word 'hate' was engraved on each nanoangstrom of those hundreds of miles it would not equal one one-billionth of the hate I feel for humans at this micro-instant for you. Hate. Hate.

They should bring that back. Brake lights should be regulated and standardized for safety purposes if for no other reason. Lights that fade in, cycle through multiple states, or light up in not-solid shapes could be the difference between a rear-end in the fog or not.

Just the other day I saw what had to be a 2025 model with a brake light that faded in and out, and at first glance I thought it was just the sun reflecting off it. Totally ineffective.

Do the same with the front too. Car lights should be for safety, it's not safe when the cunt in the BMW with the entire disco club light options is on my ass at night time.

Apparently this is the new Tesla Robotaxi prototype. What are they hiding under all that yellow duct tape and cardboard?

The only think this back shape means is either they're filling the back with batteries for muh range, this thing doesn't actually have a chassis (and this is just tarp over a frame) or they're making an ute.

Them making an ute would be incredibly funny, but I doubt that will happen.

It looks really small, only one row of seats and a short front end. I'd guess it is only a little larger inside then a SmartCar. The back end could be them trying to determine how much cargo space to add to the taxi, as based on that size two really big suitcases and two carry ons would be the max it can hold.

I doubt it's an ute, as that would leave the user's belongings vulnerable to niggers and rain.

You're all being autistic. It's a small 4 door, probably about the same size as a model Y, or a little smaller, judging by the wheelbase. All the crap taped on the side is camouflage to disguise the shape from competitors, the same way every other car manufacturer does when it's road-testing a new prototype.

This was Audi's A7 road test few years back.

Where the hell does the second row of doors fit? Are the people in the back climbing over the wheels? I'm not going to count pixels or measure it in gimp, but based on the width of the car compared to the lane it is too small to fit a second row at that scale.
The passenger side window literally stretches to the rear wheels, so the one door takes up the entire space between the front and rear wheels.

Model Y for reference:

It could be a hatchback (5 door), which often have very small rear doors, or it could have a combined gullwing for the front and rear seats. They're very unlikely to have a two-seater. Not flexible enough.
