Texas Governor Greg Abbott pardons Daniel Perry after conviction for shooting armed agitator during BLM riots

"The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles conducted an exhaustive review of U.S. Army Sergeant Daniel Perry’s personal history and the facts surrounding the July 2020 incident and recommended a Full Pardon and Restoration of Full Civil Rights of Citizenship," said Abbott in a statement.

"Among the voluminous files reviewed by the Board, they considered information provided by the Travis County District Attorney, the full investigative report on Daniel Perry, plus a review of all the testimony provided at trial. Texas has one of the strongest ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws of self-defense that cannot be nullified by a jury or a progressive District Attorney. I thank the Board for its thorough investigation, and I approve their pardon recommendation."

This took way too long.

I think the way the law works in Texas is you can't just rubber-stamp pardons, you have to go through bureaucracy first. This why you want both red cities and red states, because blue cities can make your life a living hell for a while, while a blue state like California or New York you'd be 100% fucked and there's nothing you can do about it.
If I remember correctly that's because multiples of our Governors, Ma and Pa Ferguson (husband and wife) included, were comically corrupt and used pardons as blatant political favors

Travis county (Austin) voted 71% for Biden. Los Angeles county also voted 71% for Biden.

It really is that bad.

Since California's voting system is full of holes (not that there wasn't fraud in Travis Co.), I would assume that Austin is actually that much worse.

Austin has always been a bug hive shithole though. There was once a time when Austin was WORSE than LA by a long shot when it came to politics.

Austin has not gone the route of complete retardation like LA because of Mr. Wheelie and the Texas legislature.

The trial was a farce, the jury was biased, the prosecutor was a faggot, and the judge was a cuck.

Glad Gov. Hot Wheels stood up for someone in the right.
The similarly-named Daniel Penny is going to be on trial later this year. It's NYC so if he gets declared guilty, there's zero chance of a pardon. His only hope is that the jury are straphangers who are sick and tired of subway problems.

I think there was a lefty who shot some dude who pepper sprayed him. He got no charges, iirc.
The one I remember is a literal leftist (former?) Pinkerton contractor acting as security for an antifa aligned journalist approached a right-wing protestor, pushed him, when the protestor backed up and grabbed his pepper spray, the security guy shot him.

A different antifa aligned journalist then published photos of the incident and selectively witheld ones that showed the security guy in bad light. They were found out because they didn't change the name of the photos and people became suspicious when there were clear jumps in the photos and the numbered photos had skipped numbers.

The leftist aligned prosecutor then said because the man the security guy approached, assaulted, and then saw backing away from him grabbed his pepper spray (not even used it, the shot hit the bottle of pepper spray), the security guy was justified in using deadly force and killing the man.

Do not forget these people hate you.

Holy shit this is good news. I'm surprised this wasn't swept under the rug and forgotten. It was one of the most outrageous injustices I've seen.

And typical of the 'peaceful left'... When one of their own gets burned, they have NO problem with vigilantism.

That's good, guy he shot was massive faggot.

Just a question, what is the normal system for pardons, both presidential and state? Because if most just allow unilateral pardons why the fuck aren't right wing governors just explicitly stating pardons will be given for scalps with rainbow hair? If I was Trump after being elected I'd find some dudes with legit mental retardation, hand them a few guns, let them loose on my enemies and then pardon them because they didn't potato.

The fact this went to trial at all was a fucking farce.

Austin is utterly cucked.

Austin was literally the only county in all of Texas to vote against having a reliable power grid:

Even the Democrats in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio voted for it. Austin voters are crazy.
I was born and raised in Austin/Austin area. It used to be a beautiful, very cool city. All major Texas cities are left leaning, but Austin is bar none the worst! The constant influx of Kalifornians have ruined the major cities, and some have become sanctuary cities. Used to rarely hear about violent crimes in Austin, now there are multiple daily. The local govt. is completely retarded, and blow taxpayer money on bone headed projects that enable the scum of the earth. Heaven forbid they spend money on infrastructure, the highways are 30 years behind the growth, power grid is WAAAAAY overtaxed. So glad I got the fuck out of that trainwreck, and laugh every time Abbott slaps that city down!

Most of the population of Texas that have lived in Texas for a good enough time, regardless if you're right or left, have some underlying Texas Libertarianism. Austin, being the capital, wanted to be DC now it wants to be DC and California.

Also check out r/texas for some wonderful seethe, it's uhhhhmazin
I wonder how many of the users are A) Currently residing in Texas B) Natively born into the Texas culture C) How many people immigrated from one state to the next?

(This is ironically a good take on Pardons and crimes. Shame it came from a Redditer thus disingenuous.)

Also, I'm starting to hate the adjectives like alarming, concerning, or worrying when it comes to people with other opinions. What is alarming is why you find my freedom of opinion alarming; facist.

It's not for a lack of effort on the left's part.

Art Acevedo and his consequences have been a disaster for the human race. Greg Cassar is also a huge faggot.

You would be wrong. The conservatives live in Williamson County, AKA North Austin. Austin is gerrymandered to keep the leftist rot contained. It is pretty leftist, though sane enough for the people to vote a ban on public camping back into effect.

Whatever happened to THAT guy? In what planet where shooting in self defense puts YOU in jail?

Edit: oh, he's dead. Never mind. But still, please rationalize how a guy can brandish a rifle on you yet YOU get 25 years for defending yourself.
The DA of Austin was funded by Soros. He is undergoing removal from office procedures right now.

Art Acevedo and his consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
Art Acevedo got pushed out for refusing to throw officers under the bus without investigating first. He was a major loss to the city.
