Decent modern rap is rare... but even that exists.
I never said ALL sucked. There's tons of good modern rap, you just haven't been paying attention. Piñata is amazing, then again you can't go wrong with Madlib as a producer. IIRC they're both working on another collaboration project called Bandana.
As for music I've been listening to, mainly BROCKHAMPTON and some Lil Ugly Mane. They're pretty good and they're dropping a third album on the 15th. They've already dropped 2 good albums this year, would be cool if they wrapped up Saturation with a good ending to the trilogy. As for Ugly Mane he dropped a pretty depressing but good project under a different name on his bandcamp earlier this year.
I also got around to listening to DAMN. While the collectors edition is a sad cash grab, the album is great. That's 3 classics in a row. Sheeesh.
I knew it was gonna be good when I heard 9th Wonder was the producer for this track.
You said it was rare, as if not much rap recently has been good.I never said ALL sucked.
Facts. While there were probably some good artists that were popular in the 2000's, it was for the most part trash. Currently though there's just so much good rap right now that it's a little impossible to sweep it all under the rug.I think this is a new golden age for Rap, like, if you like any type of Rap, even niche ones, you can get many great albums that make your head nod. This goes for Mainstream, Mafioso, Crossover, Boom-Bap, Southern, West Coast.. Everything is served really well nowadays.
This isn't the mid to late 2000's when it was underground or none.
Yes, that's what I said. I said it was rare. You said it was rare, as if not much rap recently has been good.
Exactly, never said you said it was all. You said it was rare. I disagree. lolYes, that's what I said. I said it was rare.
I am still listening to it, I got as far as Untouchable before switching off.. That song is a waste of a good beat.Thoughts on Eminem's Revival?
I went into it with the lowest expectations. I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would after something like MMLP2. It's too bad most of the passable songs come after the 11 track mark. I enjoyed Believe for an early on song, but Untouchable was the first Em song I've ever listened to that I ever considered beyond terrible. Lyrically this album is terrible, but I feel more highly of it than MMLP2 because at least this album made me feel things like annoyance while I was listening to it while MMLP2 made me feel bored.
The last two tracks, Castle and Arose, are hands down the best tracks Eminem has put out in fucking years. Pretty emotional tracks and I like how Castle connects with Arose and in turn Arose at the end goes back to revisit the last verse of Castle. They're kind of sad for another reason though. If he can still put out hits like those, why the fuck is the rest of his work so lackluster. Like fuck, just LISTEN to those two tracks and then listen to EVERYTHING ELSE on that album. There is no reason there should be a huge gap in quality between those two songs and the rest.
