What websites do you guys use for finding new music or looking at reviews? I use Sputnikmusic dot com but the faggots on /mu/ insist that Rate Your Music is better, but RYM are also faggots for not allowing VPNs to use their website, and I'm not convinced that they are so much better for categorizing and keeping track of albums that it's worth turning off my VPN just to use their website. There is also the GNOD music project at https://www.gnoosic.com/ which is cool. You enter a few band you like and it suggests other bands like it based on user input. A machine learning type thing I think. They have the same program for other stuff like Art and Literature at https://www.gnod.com/
Surprisingly Youtube's algorithm is really good at recommending albums, and there's some surprisingly obscure stuff uploaded for such a mainstream website. Bitchute usually has anything that gets pulled from youtube. Besides that bandcamp is good for keeping up with current stuff if you follow a bunch of record labels with a catalog you know you like.

US black metal, reminds me a little of Celtic Frost/Hellhammer in places. Vocals are on the lower side, a snarl/growl kind of thing that makes them a bit more intelligible. I found the CD in a bargain bin and decided to give it a shot just because of the album artwork. Plenty of atmospheric touches, some melodicism, and-gasp!-even audible bass at times. Pretty enjoyable

I think I listened to this once because it was recommended for fans of Deathspell Omega. Didn't click with me then, but I may try it again.

Basically nothing, finding good music is all about word of mouth and just existing for long enough to hear things. /mu/ is mostly soyboy tourists and 14 years olds latching onto whatever the current trend is (OOGH CAVEMAN RIFFS/dungeon synth/whatever).
RYM and sputnik are terrible for metal. (Sepultura's Chaos AD is rated much higher than Morbid Visions on RYM, nuff said.) They have a couple small quiet cliques with some good taste outside the usual middlebrow shit RYM rates highly (see https://rateyourmusic.com/~SabbathBloodySabbath and a lot of his followers), but they're cliques with their own biases and they naturally overrate & underrate certain things.

Well, lastfm is unusable now, but they still have their "similar artists" function on artist pages leftover from when the site was less shit, and it can get surprisingly esoteric, so it might be useful. (Except for NSBM, which they now flat-out censor down to removing similar artists and band pics.)
