2nd part of my 2022 list

EDELWEISS "Nomen est omen"
Cover says Edelweiss and it sounds like Edelweiss. If you didn't like them before this album won't change your opinion.
Psychedlic Black Metal a bit like the very first Black Magick SS stuff but without any harsh vocals.

1671835507018.png

VIHAMEDITAAIO "Metafyysinen käsitys itsestä"
Experimental Black Metal, Avantgarde Black Metal, Psychedelic Black Metal, whatever you want to call it from Finland.
If you like bands like ORANSSI PAZUZU, DARKSPACE, BLUT AUS NORD or VRANGBILD you should definitely check this band out.

1671836528390.png

HAIL CONJURER "Earth Penetration"
Caveman Black Metal from the RIDE FOR REVENGE drummer. The songs of the first half of the album is more based on riffs and the bass guitar while the later songs the focus lays more on synths and noisey drone parts. Brutal and barbaric atmosphere.

MIDNIGHT "Let there be witchery"
I didn't really like the last two albums although they weren't really different to other Midnight stuff. Somehow I got bit tired of Midnight in the last years. Maybe it's because Midnight got over exposured. Idk. This new album feels fresh again. It makes me wanna drink beer and sing a long the chorusses and throw bottles around and yell at people again. Great album to start the day.
For those who never heard of Midnight: Motörhead meets Venom but on speed.

ACID WITCH "Rot among us"
The five years since their last album felt like an eternity. Yeah, they do every year a single or two but that's not enough for me. I need more Acid Witch. So when I saw the new album popping up I immediately ordered it and holy shit, I got a monster boner when the first song started. Somehow it doesn't feel like a real song and more like an intro but it's defenitely the best opener for an album I've ever heard. For the rest of the album: the riffs and songs feels slower while the synth work feels more over the top nd the vocals more insane than ever before.

1671837783431.png

EISENWINTER "Entgegen aller Endlichkeit"
Song: Die Verachtung und die Leere
Raw lo fi punkish Black Metal although the sound has improved much and isn't as shitty as it was on their earlier records. My absolute most favourite NS band.

1671838384316.png

YEZDIN "Modra veda"
Black Metal with Atari keyboards that gives me a lot of M8L8KTH and MANOWAR vibes at the same time. I don't understand a single word of Slovenian language so I don't know what they sing about but I also don't care. I absolutely love the clean vocal parts.

1671838830539.png

VONÜLFSREICH "Ragnarök rising"
A completely overlooked band but one of my favourite younger Black Metal bands (they started in 2013). So many ISENGARD vibes with a bit of early Bathory mixed in.
They released another album just a few days ago but I haven't heard it yet. But I highly recommend Ragnarök Rising.

1671839114572.png

WHISKEY RITUAL "Kings"
The Black 'n' Roll band #1. The perfect music to drink beer to and feel like a hooligan. The first song has some nice TAAKE vibes.

1671839423356.png

HALSBRAND "De der taemmer ilden"
This album was only released in the first days of December and hasn't seen a physical release yet so it's the only one in my list which is missing in my collection. It made the list in the last moments but what an album it is!
It's harsh Black Metal with lo fi productions like ILDJARN, BONE AWL, ASH POOL but also melodic, driven by insane vocals, always on the brink of diving into complete madness. Here and there the songs get interrupted by Dungeon Synth/Ambient/Noise parts and in the latter parts of the albums the vocals become more clean. Everything is weird and obscure but also catchy and still being brutal. Imagine mixing the first three ULVER albums into one but without accoustic parts and some synth work instead. It's perfect. It's Black Metal perfection. It captures the spirit of Black Metal, what Black Metal once was and what Black Metal should be perfectly. It's a gem but will probably be very unnoticed by most people which is a shame. Everyone who is into Black Metal, like really into it and not just here and there (which is ok), should listen to this one.
The label Brutalist Tapes announced that the album will see a release on tape or vinyl or probably both in the next months and I can't wait to get my hands on it. God, I really love it.

I could probably list another 20 albums that have been released this year and that I really like and listened a lot to. But these 20 albums are easily the ones I listend to most of the time. And although my list focus so much on Black Metal this year there where actually lots of great albums from other genres. Like VENATOR "Echoes from the gutter", great Heavy/Power Metal. Or ACID BLADE (Power Dive / Heavy/Power). Or IRON GRIFFIN (Storm of Magic). Or WOE (Czernobog), great Manilla Road inspired Doom/Heavy Metal. And SONIC FLOWER, a project from the CHURCH OF MISERY guitarist, released a new album. Great Blues/Stoner Rock. You haven't enough of Black Metal? Check out the new WEHRHAMMER album (Blut). Another great raw NSBM release. And definitely check out ATEIGGÄR and their debut album "Tyrannenmord"!

In the end 2022 turned out to be a great year for releases.[/spoiler]

Anyone here have a battle jacket? Has anyone had encounters with people who expose themselves to you as retards because of a single patch?
I *had* one I made it pretty close to when I got into metal. Got embarrassed and took it apart. Starting a new one eventually when I get more patches from concerts

I've seen plenty of "trans and punk" type of "battle vests" worn by fat blue haired girls who didn't seem much interested in the music. Many such cases.
(On a side note one time I witnessed one of these people get pulled into a moshpit and then proceed to start crying. Lol)

Okay I haven't checked anything since last week and fuck trannies.

Careful with that, according to the Lords of Chaos movie Varg turned into a deranged nazi psycho killer after he got cyberbullied irl over his Scorpions patch.

Wanna put your money where your mouth is faggot? I accept this challenge.

I've kept my vest in the closet because I didn't think I had the body for it at the time (used to be extremely out of shape back then) but recently I had the urge to finally give it some sunlight, I even got done with a couple of Sodom patches and a Gadsden Flag. Well last week a retard approached me and called it a Confederate Flag and disregarded everything else. This went on for a couple of minutes and I walked away. Later on during Christmas over the weekend I'm in bumblefuck bible and gun country and I have people actually asking questions and complimenting it.

I understand how the genre has become gatekept by fat girls and trannies who know absolutely nothing about the genre and community but at the same time I don't understand, I would say carefully choose what patches you sew on but I also say fuck jannies.

my top 10 for the year, in no set order

Funeral Harvest-Redemptio
Lykotonon-Promethean Pathology
Liminal Shroud-All Virtues Ablaze
Hierophant-Death Siege
Heaving Earth-Darkness of God
In Aphelion-Moribund
Father Befouled-Crowned in Veneficum
Obsidian Shrine-Bloodshed Under the Black Star
Blut Aus Nord-Disharmonium: Undreamable Abysses
Shape of Despair-Return to the Void

I'd guess it's gatekept by fat girls and trannies because dedicated metal culture itself is filled with autistics who can't like anything off-mainstream without needing to turn it into a lifestyle and fashion statement, and anywhere there are feeble autistic outcasts, bullish fat dangerhairs and transexualism will latch on and take over. Everyone else who's normal appreciates the music itself and goes about their business.

I don't even know what you people are talking about tbh, what is a "battle vest"? Is that something the mentally disabled wear to concerts to flail in? That sounds kind of embarrassing, I was always fine with cargo shorts and a regular T-shirt, am I at a fashion show?

Anyways, here's two songs I liked from two alright bands:

I'd listen to Alpaca Holocaust.

never wore one myself, but it's pretty cool if the wearer can pull it off. And if it's been put effort into
Seriously dependent on the outfit, black goes good for me so that's one of the few choices I have. There are definitely plenty of cringe jackets and vests I've seen and more weird outfits with them. Rob Halford has a battle duster which he can pull off sometimes depending on how much leather he's wearing.

It probably helps that he's Rob Halford tbh.
Man, I wish I got in to battlejackets/vests when I was younger. Can't start from scratch now that I'm in my thirties and grey.

The vocalist in Blind Ivy does some... tasteful modelling just fyi

Why not? I'm probably older and still wear vests. Most of them I did just a couple of years ago. Although I think the term "battlevest" has become very gay. Just call it a vest. But vests are cool and comfy and extra pockets for all your stuff.

I have one vest that is focused on Urfaust, Urfaust related bands and other more obscure/occult BM bands, one with that is French-BM-bands-only, one only for NSBM bands, one vest only with Stoner Rock/(Stoner) Doom bands, one for the more brutal Black/Death bands (Blashphemy, Beherit, ImpNaz, Diocletian, etc; all patches are red/white/black, no other colours), one that is more Black/Death/Thrash themed (Deströyer666, Bolt Thrower, Possessed, Venom, Absu, etc) but with a Saint Vitus backpatch lol, one that is 98% Black Magick SS and the rest are other "magick metal" bands, one vest that is only for crust, d-beat and punk bands and finally one for the more traditional BM bands (Mayhem, Darkthrone, Emperor, Burzum, etc).

All of them are more decent than fully patched. Like I usually go with one backpatch, 4-5 smaller one on the back, two on the front shoulder parts and small ones on the front pockets and a few pins/buttons here and there and maybe 1-2 smaller ones down below. Less is more.

Only the Black/Death/Thrash one is completely patched and full of studs and shit.

If I don't feel spotting one of my metal vests in public I wear I plain black leather vest.

Anyways, a new SATANIC WARMASTER album from last December:

God damn. I'd like to see your vest collection. especially the NSBM one. Aren't you German? Anyone ever give you any trouble for that one?
You're right though, I guess there's nothing wrong with just making one now. Probably would if I ever went to any concerts.

Sometimes I need something that isn't Revenge, Mortician, Absu, or Taake, and most of time that something is Fu Manchu.
Very different from what is usually posted about here, but I like them.

Yes and yes but most of the times it's some mean looks only I get. Like I never got really into a fight bc someone didn't like something I wear. At least I couldn't really remember. Also I don't wear my NSBM vest or any sketchy shirt when I'm heading into the more lefty parts of my town or the more lefty/political correct venues for a concert. Ironically I live in a more multi-cultural part with lots of arabs, turks, blacks, etc and noone cares but I guess they just don't know what all the logos and signs mean haha

Also you learn to know at what festival you can wear what shirts/vests. Like they don't really care at Under The Black Sun festival as long as you don't wear any forbidden stuff and don't throw nazi salutes. At Party San Open Air or Chaos Descends Festival they won't let you on the ground if you wear something sketchy. They'll ask you to change your shirt and come back. Only if you act like a fucking retard they kick you out.

In Easten Gemany usually noone gives a fuck about anything. At least at Black Metal concerts.

I also don't wear my Black Magick SS in public simply bc of all the SS runes, SS deathheads and swastikas bc it's a crime to show them in public and it's not worth it getting the vest confiscated and facing trial.

If I don't forget I'll make some pics at the weekend.

Fleshgod Apocalypse is a weird band, and I find their occasional tendency to revert into death metal covers of early 2000s pop songs to be troubling.
Here in this one you'll hear standard death metal (I guess), followed by an awkward descent into "hit me baby one more time" by Brittany Spears at 3:20:

Still doesn't hold a candle to this one though:

And some instrumental stuff. I think the third one's album is named after a creepypasta...

This album was referenced at one point earlier in the thread, but if you like unusual composition you'll enjoy this:

It's nice being able to get on the site without using tor and having login issues.

I haven't seen any of her modelling myself and I'm not a coomer so it's of little interest to me. The band has been quiet since the Blyat War started, I could imagine some of the members were conscripted, but they haven't said anything to my knowledge.
