Havent been on KF lately so i forgot how many slamheads are around or check this thread, but for the slammers: I just want to ask of you; have you yet already checked that new Epicardiectomy ?

They always put out a new like 2-song promo/demo between full-lengths and this may be their best yet 🔨 🔨

Also this is heavily recommended for anyone in general who may want to delve into slam death metal

In a shocking turn of events, black metal astroturfed super star Blackbraid turns out to not be native. Unbelievable. All the drama around him and the band the past few days has been hilarious.

I've never heard of Blackbraid before but I am starting to get into American nativist BM, or whatever you want to call it. Why do you say this guy's music is astroturfed?

Curious about other metalhead kiwis do you support your favourite indie artists by buying their merch/CDs/Vinyls etc. ? I been meaning to buy some from bandcamp because I want to both support them and also own their music physically for the better sound quality.

I buy more vinyl from black metal and death metal artists then I care to admit lmfao. Bandcamp is a pozz'd tranny shit hole so I don't support through there.

Been blasting a lot of American black metal lately, it simply hits different:

Vinyl is based. I didn’t notice any pozzed tranny-ness from Bandcamp I just know that it’s a place for indie artists to host their stuff.

I easily spent half of my income on band stuff/records every month. To be fair I don't have kids to take care of and my living costs aren't that high so it grants me this freedom but I honestly hope everyone buys stuff to support the artists. Like I don't care if you buy mp3 files from Bandcamp or physical records or merch but support the artist.

I was involved in running a label for years, I organized concerts until covid struck, I played in several bands/contributed to several bands works.
I know that this sounds stupid to some but I have done a lot of this for idealistic reasons but the point is, no matter what your intentions are, it still costs money. A lot of. Most of the shit I have done and still do aims to just get even in the end and not to become rich although I won't deny that I get a few extra bucks out of all of the stuff I do. But to get there took me years. Like nearly 30 years.

You like a record? Please buy it. The format doesn't matter, just buy it at least once. If a band is signed to a label and the record got released through a label please buy it from the label directly.

If you don't want to support Bandcamp as a platform then write an email to the band. Most of them will happily figure out a deal for you offside the platform.

https://www.theblackvault.net/topic/3953-bandcamp-censorship/#comment-166699 good thread about the stuff Bandcamp does to artists they don't agree with. Not to mention even if you purchase an album from them they can still take it away should they decide it goes against their ideology. I would never tell my fellow metal Kiwis what to do, but I personally wouldn't use Bandcamp and would rather buy directly from the artist or a third party such as Hell's Headbangers or a local shop.

You need an account to read that forum.

Bandcamp was acquired last year by Tencent, who are one of the big evil giga-corporations of China. It's probably going to shift away from current the DRM-free, artist-focused model and towards becoming another streaming platform to compete with Spotify and the like. Also any user-data now can be harvested by the CCP, so they can get accurate consumer models even for niche stuff. I don't doubt that it wasn't happening before, it's just that now it's official.

You need an account to read the article and it wasn't archived but I get the gist. It sucks honestly I heard other stories of artists getting treated terribly by bandcamp as well.

All that stuff you did is great man, kudos to you for helping out independent artists. My reasoning is if I enjoy what a new band is doing and I want them to continue doing what they do I should support them financially. Because you could be the most hardcore idealist musician out there and the sad reality is that it's very costly to do what you do. And it would break my heart to see a smaller band have to stop because of the financial strain.

I myself have been trying to make an effort of buying black metal CDs, I've managed get a few so far though. Physical media is always nice to have. I'd only buy digital if I absolutely have no other choice.

I need to invest in a CD player so I can buy some, too. At the moment I just have a turntable and a growing collection of black metal LPs

So, pretty big fan of dethklok/metalocalypse.

New album is very meh and I cant figure out exactly what it is. Nothing really stood out, and it sounded like a weird mix of Deth Album III and Galaktikon 2. Which I'd consider the weakest links in Brendons discography. Still enjoy them, but not this one.

Also went back to the Murmaider well, and it still doesn't hold up to the first one.

They're a bunch of clowns. Just a few days ago they got kicked out of a festival in Norway. The main guy took to social media to claim that they got kicked out because, of course, muh racism.
a bloo bloo.jpg

The festival responded by saying that the band was removed for being drunk and disorderly to the point of spitting in somebody's face. This is corroborated with video footage they themselves uploaded of them clearly drunk and being histrionic faggots.

(notice how they don't deny it when the guard makes they claim they spat in somebody's face)
Here's a handy link with all of the info (no video though).

Meanwhile on Metal Archives one of the mods tries to justify the initial lies and subsequent backpedaling done by the band by blaming it all on wypipo and systemic racism.

YouTube is recommending me their new album constantly but I couldn't be bothered to listen to it so far and now I won't bc now I fucking hate these faggots.

Edit: On a side note.

This channel popped up in my YT recommendations a few days ago. Whoever runs it is uploading lots of old 80s Heavy Metal stuff with lots of more obscure releases.

Not sure what to make of the new Incantation album. It's still Incantation so it's good but it's starting to feel like they're treading water.

Reading through the first page of that thread, I now get why they're being accused of being under the spell of astroturfing. Their first album was mentioned in the 2022 Rolling Stone top 15 (alongside stuff like Ghost, Ozzy Osbourne and Slipknot), and they recently got a special article on the New York Times of all places.

Also, for someone so quick to draw the race card as soon as it's convenient, it's funny how Blackbraid's guitarist has previously played live guitar for Maquahuitl (the guy behind Maquahuitl has a couple other projects that are unambiguously NSBM).

Blackbraid are industry plants just like Myrkur was one. Shocking how people didn't immediately see that. These acts aren't exactly subtle about it
