Edit:
Also not strictly metal I guess but I dig it.

Ok finally sat down and listened through the new Lovebites LP " Outstanding Power". First impression so far is that it manages to be a pretty good album on par with "Judgment Day", though not sure if better. With over an hour of music, it has a good length. Production is good at first glance, and the girls still know how to shred. It also does a good job mixing up the tempo throughout the album. No idea why, but at a certain point I was reminded of Dynasty Warriors. The only criticism so far is the English pronunciation of the vocalist which should be better at this point but Dir En Grey's Kyo also never bothered to improve so who cares.

Good LP, nothing really major to complain about, next one I am looking forward to is the new Dir En Grey in April.

Some tracks I particularly enjoyed:

Seemingly unashamed Peste Noire rip-off that turns out to literally be Famine. Second side of the split isn’t even metal but it’s still neat shoegaze.

Neige co-founded Amesouers. The female, Audrey, contributed to both bands on this split. And to Peste Noire. And did vocals for Alcest. And for Vermine. Neige's rewritting of his past is particular more pathetic bc he was way more linked to evil right wingers than "just" Peste Noire.

He's getting older, he now have a child, a wife and financial problems. I can't blame him for trying to soften a bit his reputation.
Sadly, I think nothing he released since Le Retour des Pastoureaux is good.

Not to mention Old Silver Key with Saenko and a bunch of other guys from Drudkh. That project only started in 2010, so I think it's kinda obvious that Famine's claim that Neige was fired is more true than Neige's claim he left KPN over some vague ideological issue or whatever. Not that I think it really matters, I just don't get why Neige insists on being this much of a faggot this late in the game. He clearly doesn't actually care about politics.

The magic word is virtue signaling.

Electric Wizard
This one is really catchy, I dig this.

I am a tourist when it comes to Doom, and I can "hear" Kyuss on this.

(Btw I really like Kyuss)

Also, after listening to Electric Wizard and Kyuss I just had to jump to some heavier shit.

It's like I enjoy the contrast to better appreciate and "digest" their sound.

What Electric Wizard song was that? Link’s broken.
There’s a documentary featuring Kyuss about the West Coast scene they came out of with a ton of other rad stoner doom bands

It's "Saturnine". The link does a weird redirect, it's probably why it didn't work.

An all-time classic for sure, but never really listened to it closely.

I used to listen to One Kill Wonder all the time. I don't think I've heard another album that can be called "melodic thrash". I don't listen to a whole lot of thrash, though. Aro is a great screamer. They even have a video that I still remember because it's a good mix of a barebones plot and band footage.

Their album "rEVOLVEr" was a thing of beauty, it was my first intro to The Haunted.

That track really sets the tone for the entire album perfectly, I kept it on repeat for quite a while, along with "One Kill Wonder".

And because I was introduced to the band with Dolving doing the vocals, in a way I prefer Dolving's vocals over Aro's.
