The Abortion Debate Containment Thread - Put abortion sperging here.

What do you think a "neurotypical" person's view on abortion would be? Out of curiosity.
Fuck if I know. Probably for, against, indifferent or somewhere in between.
They’ll still attribute agency to those with conflicting opinions however, unlike you did even with your own parents; you can think things through whereas they’re just wishy-washy flippy-floppy peepee-poopoo NPCs (it’s called having emotions).

Abortion has been practiced for millennia and it’ll continue being practiced for just as long so we might as well make it as safe and harmless as we can (for women).
And it’s not like pro-abortionists want a comeback of Mesopotamian- or Carthaginian-style child sacrifices (think bad ending of Abraham & Isaac). At least I hope no one does.

Does it not strike you as odd to accuse me of denying agency to others in the same paragraph that you pathologise me as lacking emotions? Clearly I have very strong emotions about this issue. Look how much I'm willing to sperg about it. And what about the 50 percent of women who are pro-life? Are they unfeeling robots too?

"Slavery has been practiced for millenia and it'll continue being practiced for just as long"

Yes, it’s called a salary or as commies call it: Wage slavery.

I’m saying you don’t understand emotions, not that you don’t have them.

I don't know, the role of emotions in this topic seems pretty straightforward to me. All of the abortion advocates in this thread (presumably including you--or are you an unfeeling robot like me?) have some emotional hang-up or another about this issue, typically an attachment to the notion that pro-lifers are wild religious zealots who want to bring about the Handmaid's Tale. Why don't you try explaining emotions for me? You know, help me see things from an "NT" perspective. Let's hear some more of the armchair psychology.

you seem to be getting upset at @Narutard's astute observation that you appear to be on the spectrum. don't be ashamed, autism makes you special and we certainly love special individuals here at the farms. :tomgirl:

I think you're an unsympathetic tard. All you care about is being right, consequences be damned, and if you're wrong you just conveniently blame those dang liberals. You don't even want abortion as an exception to the rule because that would mess with your black & white morality.
Why don't you try explaining emotions for me?
You can't explain emotions to someone who doesn't understand them, like you.
It's like pain. Let's take backpain for example: If you have never experienced it yourself I can hold an entire lecture about how it feels but all you will really understand by the end of it is that "it sucks." Whereas if you have experienced it all I have to say is "it sucks" and you will know exactly what I mean by it.
So all I can say is that you're an unsympathetic tard.

Do you not see the irony in dismissing me as an "unsympathetic tard" instead of making any good faith attempt to engage?

why should anyone try seriously engaging with you when you're unable to understand nuance and that things aren't black and white. it's like talking to a really, cripplingly-autistic robot.

You know what I meant, and if you don't there's no helping you.
If you're simply looking for a "gotcha, libtard! *le smug face*" moment to farm (you)s on /r9k/ I can just tell you right now to suck my dick.

No, I really don't. I'm an autistic retard who can't understand emotions, remember? You seem to be very unsympathetic towards me. So when you call me an "unsympathetic tard who only wants to be right," it strikes me as projection.

Where exactly is the """nuance""" in the question of whether a fetus is a person or not? Either it is or it isn't. Some issues are "gray" but this is not one of them. It is indeed one of the most black-or-white political topics out there. And my position is not unique on the pro-life side, it's pretty much the same as all those boomers who go to the March for Life every year.

this is not something to brag about. you literally just compared yourself to boomers lol.

I don't know how many times people have to explain shit to you before your programming picks it up. Sounds like you need maintenance.

No, of course banning abortion alone would not be sufficient. Stopping underage sex simply requires that parents know what their children are doing and where they are going, and forbidding them from going places or doing things where they might end up "getting laid." No going out to unsupervised house parties where a bunch of minors are getting blackout drunk and the like.

Of course, some kids can and will lie to get around this, which is why I keep repeating over and over that the culture in a broad sense instills the belief that underage sex is Not That Bad, creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. As a parent trying your best in an otherwise degenerate society, yeah, it's gonna be hard to guarantee that your kid isn't able to slip something by you somehow. But the stronger the community is and the more united they are in a belief that teenagers should not be sexually active, the less of a possibility this becomes. The Amish, for instance, do not have rampant casual teenage sex as the norm in their society.

Teenagers should not be taught how to have sex. If we agree with the premise that teenagers should not be having sex, it is incoherent to then teach them how to do it anyways. To say that this sends a mixed message would be putting it mildly. Those who do have sex anyways should be met with harsh social sanctions, and if a child is produced, expected to marry. Again, this is the Amish approach, and it is the correct one.

Has anyone come up with an argument against abortion that is more than just muh feelings and muh Christ?
At least 3 things actually. From most convincing to least convincing.
  1. An abortion can be painful depending on how it's performed. Anesthesia is required in most cases, but if the abortion goes on for too long or is botched the woman could feel cramps lasting long after it was done. Healthline cites more side effects of abortion other than cramps: https://www.healthline.com/health/after-abortion
  2. Abortions contribute to depopulation, but we're overpopulated anyways.
  3. Finally and I think the weakest point is that a baby may grow up to hypothetically become the person to find a cure to cancer. Everyone has seen this argument atleast once in abortion related debates.
Personally, I say point 2 and 3 are why if the baby is not suffering from some ailment (autism/down) or there is no medical condition that may cause pain to the woman going through her pregnancy then I don't see why someone couldn't just carry her pregnancy to term and then give up the baby to a foster home.

Would you actually want to outlaw abortion aside from those medical exceptions, though?

I did not know this. If clinical abortions can hurt that bad I don’t want to imagine what back-alley/coat hanger style abortions are like.
The more I know the more I get to appreciate condoms.

As to point 3: “But what if it grew up to be the next Hitler?” :cunningpepe:

The pain thing is convincing but that's more like a way to convince an individual to not follow through, not an argument for a policy. I don't think we restrict anything "because it hurts," usually it's because it causes injury. The weight you give to painful abortion vs carrying the pregnancy is a personal choice.

Second argument about depopulation is a relatively valid one as birth rates have declined so drastically that we're in for a giant crisis in the next generation or two. However I don't think populating the world with unwanted pregnancies and people with easily avoidable severe medical conditions or disabilities by taking away abortion is a good idea.

Third, we'd have to assume fate has some role in life. To the best of our knowledge, no one is born to become something specific. We're a product of our genes, of course, but we're also a product of the unique individual experiences we have. If a family is going to ensure that their child is a doctor later in life, what difference does it make if it's the first child they have or the fiftieth if the environmental factors remain relatively the same? It is only in hindsight that we can see someone's path through life, but we do not know these paths to be predetermined or destined.

Many early-term abortions are carried out simply by taking a pill which causes the woman the miscarry. This can be extremely painful in some cases, but childbirth is also, so I'm not sure why this is considered an argument against abortion. Maybe if you go for a C-section, you get the most "pain-free" experience that way? I don't think I've ever seen even once someone who thought about pregnancy, abortion, or childbirth in such terms though. "Oh I wanted to get an abortion, but I was worried it might hurt, so I just had the kid anyways."

a woman shouldn't have to go through a c section to deliver a baby she doesn't want.
