The Abortion Debate Containment Thread - Put abortion sperging here.

Well, congrats theocrats, you now have given women less right to bodily autonomy than a corpse, just like your backwards religion wants

We may not call the seed of a watermelon "a watermelon", but I would say that yes, watermelon seeds are the first stage of watermelon and therefore are a watermelon.
Remind me to never eat at your house. You'd serve a cake mix and say it's a cake

California will still have abortion. Roe going away doesn’t mean all abortion is banned.

That's great for those that live in California. What about those poor women in Oklahoma or Alabama? Hell, in LA you zealots are outlawing birth control, too.

You are apparently fine being a second class citizen. That's fine if you want to live that way but most women don't

i guess for some people whose lifestyles are funded by their parents due to intellectual disability, such trivialities wouldn't matter.

the decision is abhorrent and i genuinely worry for whatever fresh hell this shit supreme court does next.

It’s called states rights. If you have a problem with the law currently, take it up with the state legislature and work on passing new laws. Roe was on flimsy foundation. There is no constitutional right to abortion.

States rights are always used to oppress the minority. States rights was once used to keep slavery going. And segregation. And outlaw interracial marriage (which it sounds like is coming up next thanks to you Republicans).

State legislatures in some states are gerrymandered out the ass to give your party of religious zealots full control. Your fellow religious zealots in the SC said that gerrymandering was okay, too.

Like I said, you're apparently cool with being a second class citizen. That's fine, but most women don't want to be.

the civil war was about "states' rights", which really meant "states' rights to own slaves". states' rights are never used in actual good faith and often are used to fuck over the minority. or, hell, apparently 50-ish percent of the population as of today.

According to the opinion documents that came out after this ruling, gay marriage and birth control are the next ones they want to tackle. I wonder if at this point its no longer just about constitutional authority but if the court has taken offense to getting threatened for three months.
With that said I hope this trend continues, because these rulings are pushing power back in the hands of the states which is how it should be.

edit: @potato in mah painus i think i maybe have forgotten to quote you, so i'm going to ping you here. sorry, you probably won't get a notification, but my not quoting you wasn't intentional, sorry.

it doesn't surprise me that people might be just a tad upset that the rights of approximately 50% of the population are being diminished because "states' rights", which, in my opinion, is bullshit. do i condone attacking or threatening the justices? no. does it surprise me that it happened and will likely continue to happen? no. the court is supposed to be impartial and if they took "offense" to shit, they need to be removed. not that they will be, but whatever.

California's environmental protections aren't good faith.
environmental protections should be a countrywide thing, but alas, apparently our government doesn't think it's important enough. but sure, i should clarify MOST states' rights are not used in good faith.

Men that aren't mentally unwell and fat (you) have less rights than women, as we can be drafted and forced to die in a shithole.

The draft hasn't happened in a while, dude.

And yeah, I do think women should be drafted, if it happens again, too. But that doesn't mean that they should be forced to give birth just because you religious nutjobs care more about fetuses than actual living humans

if women are drafted they'll be criticized for being incompetent because apparently they (the GOP) want to have their cake and eat it, too. women should be drafted but lol they're stupid whores who can't do anything right, they should be in the kitchen.

The last draft before ww1 in 1917 was during the Civil War. Just because they haven't used it in a while doesn't mean they won't if it means profit
Women can just act responsible in regards to sex.

The decision is good, Roe vs Wade was a retarded decision that made no sense and gave America's retard government an excuse not to to enact an actual law protecting abortion rights for 50 years. The Supreme Court's job is interpreting laws, not writing them.

that is a good point, dyn. i suppose the government better start writing up an actual law regarding abortion, then, huh.

They had 50 years to do so. Obama, in all his eight years of presidency, didn’t bother. Neither did Clinton.
it is hard to make laws when there are people preventing you from doing so. political obstructionism is an issue. still, perhaps one day, when our country is less retarded, some politician will bring enough people together to go "we should enshrine abortion rights" and hell will likely also freeze over. but i can hope.

Yes, but I have a feeling they're going to just encourage retards to think this is the Republicans and Supreme Court's job to fix so they can dodge the whole issue and pretend like it has nothing to do with them and it's out of their hands.
