The ~Aesthetic~ thread - General thread for aesthetic trends including but not limited to fashion, art, and home design.

I do not like clowncore. I find it very ugly and way too loud and bright.
Same here. Whatever category my whole deal would fit into I’d have to think it would be the spiritual opposite of clowncore.

That said I highly recommend looking up the clowncore hashtag on Instagram. If I remember later once I’m not on my phone I’ll post some of the most moon-worthy stuff.

According to our new friend the aesthetics wiki:

So if we go with opposite alone we'd want:
  • Small or close-fitting, minimalist shoes
  • Quiet or minimalist designs and solid colors
  • Muted colors, natural hair colors
  • No hats(?)
  • No plastic or simulacra, real materials only
  • No slogans or text on the body
  • Light or no makeup
  • Lack of color
  • Pants? Long skirts and dresses?
  • Bare legs?

Please do.
Despite posting toks and screenshots, I don't actually have a TikTok or instagram account, so I can't just browse hashtags on instagram and I can't sort by new on TikTok. Everything I get from the former is off picuki or imginn.

That's pretty much right on the money.

I deeply regret going down the #clowncore rabbit hole actually I saw some pretty satanic-ass shit in there. I didn't dive very deep, this is just some skimming off the first few results. Also there were a handful of honest-to-goodness clowns just trying to make a living entertaining families in there and man I feel bad for them.

For some reason this one makes me think of Tartuffe the Spry Wonder Dog-

I don't remotely understand what would've had to go wrong in your formative years for this to be sexy-

Clowncore is both ugly and extremely well fitting for the younger generation. Imagine being 18 today, your already living the clowncore world, honk honk

My first thought was "What if there was a nazi aesthetic? Hahah" And of course there is one. According to Aesthetics Wiki, there are at least two: Nazi Chic and Fashwave (I archived the pages because they'll probably be taken down in any moment, and the comment section is funny).
I had the impression it would be more popular among men, but I don't see a male counterpart of the Nazi Chic aesthetic. Maybe skinheads? They do have their own "aesthetic" but also their own ideology. But there is no "nazi aesthetic" that takes inspiration from nazi propaganda and the culture of nazi Germany, just women wearing the Hugo Boss uniform.
Then you have Fashwave, which I find ugly because fascism and vaporwave aren't well combined in the examples I've seen. It looks lazy, you just take a photo of Mussolini, add some groovy colors and paste some random quote on it.
Someone mentioned Cottagecore's popularity dropped because now it's associated with white supremacy, but look:

So you like farms? You fucking nazi white supremacist.

I feel dumb for not knowing an /mlpol/ existed. Of course it did. I should have just assumed as such.

Not only is it hideously boring, it's also detrimental to child development; kids need brightly coloured environments for eyesight. Recently, I was trying find a rainbow arch wall sticker and so many of them were just shades of beige and grey to suit this trend. I've also seen some tiktok mums proudly display their greyscale playrooms, because God forbid there be any hint of colour in their pristine modern hellscape.
I think these rooms are kind of nice to look at but there is no way a child actually lives/plays in them. They’re definitely not practical for children.

I despite the clothes these moms put on their kids-same nude colors.

Two articles I've seen today and some associated tiktoks:

Tidycore Makes a Real Mess

How organization content ignores the most important part of being neat: buying less.

Ok, this last one I like, but if you can't tell your bottles apart maybe don't do it.

Is “Cluttercore” the Chaotic Good We Need Right Now?

It’s giving organized mess

Exactly. Zero thought for their kids went into the design of those rooms because it's all for tiktok/instagram clout. They're gonna be so angry when their children are old enough to put tacky stickers on everything and insist on having garishly coloured toys lol.

This got me thinking about how much I love the Steiner-Waldorf aesthetic though. It's objectively much prettier and better for the kids. Very natural and colourful without being too garish. 1e3a6b00-2405-4b52-9abe-5e2244cff536.jpeg19701ad0-09e5-4108-a859-92e9aaad9c3a.jpeg8d4146f6-0360-4920-a05b-9afc816fc549.jpeg

I really really like that style, it’s giving me some ideas on what to do with my own kids’ room lol.

I agree with you, those moms are going to lose their shit when the kids want to be kids.
