This hurts so bad, I'm so tired of pawing at dozens of near-identical glass rectangles.

I would love to see an entire house decorated in the "Space Age" aesthetic of the 1950's and early-1960's.
Unfortunately, this aesthetic is not common, anymore.
It seems to be making a minor resurgence, like these overpriced appliances with the very unfortunate brand name.

I'm rather ambivalent towards the sleek minimalistic 50's/60's future look. On the positive side, I'm old, so it reminds me of the good old days of watching Shakespearean actors fly around in cardboard starships and I like the naturalistic shapes and curving lines. On the other hand it's the larval form of our modern architectural and design hell.

That first image reminded me of the existence of RedLine, which is a visual delight of a film:

More videos for which I want people's thoughts:
1. That's a lot of books. Not bad but makes me think she's cramming her whole collection in her room.
2. Dunk it in the trash.
3. Jewel tones are very heavy for furniture and walls, and calling it "unique character" is a bit funny. It's very Better Homes & Gardens but I don't hate it either.
4. Kinda monochrome. Fix that and it's pretty much fine. Reminds me of Indian knickknack stores.
5. Water bill 100. Also good luck dusting all those and fighting off mold and dampness if you mist them. Looks nice but impractical.

Wow these are all shit. Someone give me advice on how to build a rustic spacer house and then I’ll consider giving more thought to mock these retarded “aesthetics”

Unfortunately, modern appliances in this style seem to be invariably produced out of the softest Chinese plastic, scratching and bending with the slightest force, and none of the robustness or charm of the iron tanks that were 50s appliances.

Not a lie that minimalism is a richfag thing, its a form of countersignaling , he is still a faggot though, imagine saying something like "having things is who i am" unironically.

Some of these look nice, but the are so devoid of personality.
same energy as seeing a Kardashian with a Metallica shirt, it has an aura of gayness and fakeness. Reminds me more of an hotel room than a lived in place, its nice, but not homely, it came pre.packaged.

Tell me more about countersignaling. I wish to learn. 🤔

This is apparently part of the "Downtown Girl" trend for 2023.

rich person has so much fucking money that they don't need to show it off and instead gain status by doing the opposite. Like steve jobs wearing that same shirt over and over but everyone knew he was obsenely rich so pretending to be humble was a form of power move, , its showing off by not showing off. Humblebragging.

That's something I've noticed as well. Minimalism has a lot of "hidden" fees and expenses.

the stereotypical restaurant with the blandest interior design ever with a bunch of blank walls is the one where the plate will cost you a yearly salary.

I've grown to hate minimalism, it has become a form of design dogma to progressively strip any joy and individuality out of everything.

I like things that are clean and open, but you can achieve that same effect (for me anyway) without going balls-to-the-wall minimalist.
Some examples:
This is tagged as minimalist design, but it doesn't have the same straight lines and brings in more of the desert colors (whether or not you like the desert being a separate matter)

But then you have stuff like this that even calls certain items "essentials" but if you were really living minimalistically, why would you need pampas grass?

Anyone who doesn't display at least one personal sentimental item in their bedroom and that also considers a fucking essential oil diffuser an 'essential' needs to rope already.

There is minimalism as an aesthetic and minimalism as a philosophy. The latter causes women significant mental distress.
Not to be all Not Like The Other Girls™ but this is basically fine? It's a bit sparse and idk where his friends are going to sit but I'd rather that room than one of the clutter core ones OR the carefully curated ~aesthetically minimal~ ones tbh.

This thread has been great, though. As someone with an innate lack of style and zero understanding of how to put a room together, it's good to see that a bunch of chicks who clearly care far too much about 'gramming their personal space also can't put together something unique and are all just copying eachother's tiktok ideas!

I've also seen one where someone shopped in things like a dildo and a catbox into the first image to make it a woman's apartment.

There is simple and then there's minimal. I like simple solutions that reduce clutter and enhance whats important but the obsession to strip everything to barest bones just for its own sake is a neurosis. Corpo mentality.

I feel like decorating your child's room like this has got to cause some kind of mental retardation at the developmental stage, no? There are Norwegian Prisons that look more cheerful than this. Even the baby looks like she fucking hates it- there's nothing to look at, no mobile or bright colours or interesting lights. The way the poor thing (in her beige onesie? Jesus, why do they even make those) is lying there reminds me of that creepy foetus voldemort thing from the afterlife in Harry Potter.

British Nouveau Riche and wannabe influencers are the fucking worst for this. Everything is shitty new-build and grey and covered in velour and chrome and crap fake velvet.
