The Alt-left

Everyone knows about the Alt-right. But, no one ever speaks about the Alt-left. Why is that?
 
The Left is alternative by definition. The Democratic party, AIDS Council etc aren't Leftists, they're Liberals. The only reason there's an Alt-Right is because Right-wingers wanted to be part of the Cool Kids' Club so bad they had to co-opt Leftist culture on their own political terms.

They actually tried that a couple times with the dirtbag left and more recently "dark woke". The issue is the right wing activists that made up the "alt right" had actual policy disagreements with the establishment right. The "alt left" are just leftists who want to rebrand the establishment left as cool and edgy so they can market it to teenagers.

Anyone on the left who would say things that could be called "alt left" (aka "less insane leftism") is just alt-right.

The only way to have alt-left would be leftism that's even more insane than garden variety leftism, which is hard to imagine these days.
 
It falls under extreme left (which was always socialite commies and sex pests). Thr alt-right moniker was due to extreme right already being taken by hardcore Christians, so they needed a new term to hype it up.

If we’re being generous, that would constitute breadtubers. Reason why I said generous is some of them lean into establishment, but some are really really out there.

Alt-right was never 1 specific group, it was a coalition of new right wing groups that couldn't stay united for very long.

There have always been even more of different flavors of left, but they've never been very good at uniting voluntarily. See the spanish civil war for a case study.

Also you could argue that Bernie was alt left compared to Hillary in 2016, but he didn't have the leadership strength to remain contrary to her in that election, even when she straight up stole the nomination from him.

Basically, this.

There is no alt-left, because there aren't people that are allowed to deviate from what the current state of leftism is. Those people get yeeted out and cast to the other side.

On the other hand, if you're sitting on the outside, but aren't particularly interested in being right-wing (or really, what it comes down to is that you can credibly not be extremely right wing but the left absolutely hates you and wants to paint you with the same brush as they do the right wing), you're "alt-right".

I have seen it more appropriately referred to as "Ctrl-Left".

Do I necessarily think this won't change in the near future? Nope. The smarter or at least craftier Democrats already see the culture shift on the horizon. They may seethe at a Trump presidency, but they also know people are enthusiastic for him and the ideas that come with him (I have theorized this shift would have happened in 2021 or so, but COVID happened and the world came to a standstill and developed a new and more universal method for the Oppression Olympics). They've lost the bead, and it's fucking glorious watching them scramble.

If you're Marxist, anti-Colonialist, etc. you are cast out into your own bubble, represented by sites like WSWS and Democracy Now! They face censorship and only align with the right at certain points, usually for different reasons.

Those people tend to be an eclectic form of Sovietboos like the Economic Freedom Fighters or Bolivia's Evo Morales. They tend to just do what's popular, and only pay lip service to Lenin and Marx. Often their biggest cheerleaders in the west have a fetish for 'em out of pure identity politics (i.g. you can't criticize anything they do because they're non-white indigenous folx!) otherwise that makes you "CIA" or a "wrecker." However, when they do shit like this, or this , western leftists will pretend, or "forget", they never supported them. In fact, most left-wing divisions that happened/happen today are largely because of such "we didn''t know/pretend we didn't know" events.
