The Amazing Digital Circus - Western Isekai that probably will become Hazbin Hotel killer

At this point i'm wondering if we can trust Goose at all and the whole Jax thing was bullshit because he said "There is no shipping or couples" yet Gangle and zooble have been completely reduced to "those lesbians that hold hands".
First of all, calling them lesbians implies Zooble is a woman, which is extremely problematic and enbyphobic.

I slightly remember Goose claiming that a fan animation of Kaufmo abstracting was now considered canon? Was that more of his bullshit or am I just miss-remembering shit?
You mean this one?
Other than the fact that the guy that made this now works officially on the show, I haven't see anything that points at it being canon. Not that it matters because the show's real canon is so thin that you can insert about any fan interpretation of past events and it will work the same.

Guy will tell Pomni to her face that he'll just forget her if she Abstracts, but calling Zooble a woman is just too much.
That's why I believe that whatever unforgivable thing Jax did will go unmentioned or at best slightly implied, Goose just can't bring himself to give any of his characters actual flaws.

Pomni is adverse at people touching her? Well as of recent she's kind of getting over it.
Ragatha is clingy? Well, she just really wants to be your friend.
Jax is a jerk? Well you see he's not THAT much of a jerk.
Kinger is insane? Well just sometimes, it might not even be his fault.
Gangle is in reality a huge control freak? Well no she just wanted to do a good job, it was also the mask that made her act like that or something.
Zooble is a detached cynic? Well actually, she's the one that cares the most.

I thought so.

"I'm such an edgelord and horrible person but I would NEVER EVER EVER misgender a they/them!"

Guy will tell Pomni to her face that he'll just forget her if she Abstracts, but calling Zooble a woman is just too much.
Maybe we were wrong about Zooble and Caine was the real self-insert all along.
Both he and Goose seem to share a desperate need to be validated, liked, and affirmed in everything they do, regardless of quality. And unlike Zooble, Caine is actually voiced by someone who shares Goose's gender.

That's why I believe that whatever unforgivable thing Jax did will go unmentioned or at best slightly implied, Goose just can't bring himself to give any of his characters actual flaws.
I could see him doing something contrived with Jax but I can also see your point too. If it's still going to be a thing it's either going to be revealed at the very end or just be something gay like the shit people are already theorizing, like him hitting a kid (if they do this route I'd imagine they'd make him driving drunk just to make it CLEAR it's his fault and he's a bad guy).

In reality it will be something dumb and gay that most fans WILL "forgive" him for, like him being too mean to Ribbit or Kaufmo or a gay twist about him knowing more than he lets on, for his own sake. I mean there's only two episodes left, it's going to be real hard to pull the story out of it's own ass this late in the game.

This show is basically I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream for kidsmanchildren, isn't it?

Pretty much.

This is why people are going crazy with theories. It’s not that Gooseworx is some super-subtle genius; it’s that there’s barely anything to go on. That’s by design. There’s a lot of lore bait, sure, but even obvious information the characters should be asking about is intentionally hidden to stall things.

It’s like trying to solve a puzzle but you aren’t given 70% of the pieces you need until ten minutes before you leave.

The latest episode’s fake-out worked so well because it does match all the breadcrumbs. But to be honest, a lot of other theories also make sense without contradicting anything.

MatPat, for example, jumped straight to the “they’re just copies and can’t escape” theory because that’s the cruelest twist they could go with. No need to even watch more than 5 minutes of the pilot to figure that theory out,

Until the last episode, the characters themselves had mostly surrendered to their fates.

Pomni hasn’t asked questions since the pilot. If I were in their situation, I’d be constantly brainstorming with the others: how haven’t we starved to death or died of thirst? Why not push Kinger into a dark corner and ask him what the hell is actually going on? Why not try to crash the game with a huge glitch? Why do new players keep arriving?

But doing any of that would make things too easy for us to figure out.

TL;DR: The characters are trapped in the Digital Circus, but the show is trying to trap us in JJ mystery boxes.

I noticed they really upped the amount of merch they're selling. You guys think they're trying to make as much bank as they possibly can because the ending their planning is some stupid twist that will rugpull viewers and poison the brand beyond repair?

This is it most likely. Everyone is latching on to the whole "Jax deserves to be there the most" tweet, so they're assuming the worst, but it can't be that bad because the show is spending an awful lot of time trying to make us care that he's abstracting. It'd be kind of weird to try and make the audience give a shit that a child killer is suicidal. So its much more likely that he misgendered a coffee mug or something.

Is it an old clip or something? Because in all recent public appearances he does this fake woman voice, idk if it's a voice changer or what.
he also voices Bubble and The Moon, which sounds a lot more convincing, I guess he can't do that all the time.
That's another big problem with trannies is obviously because they're not actually women, doing a girl voice is hard because their tone and timbre is fundamentally different and usually because of how much higher they are than male voices it hurts to do them for long periods of time even with training which is why most trannies just don't even fucking bother trying to sound like women. It's almost like being trans is just a retarded idea in general!

It's fairly recent, actually. The clip was taken from this stream, timestamped for your convenience.
Basically the video was just talking about how Goose let it slip that TADC is set in 2017. Also I checked out that episode of Slightly Artistic he was on that I had been avoiding because I can't handle the second hand embarrassment I get from a troon trying to sound like a woman, and to me he just sounds like a gay man... which he is.
which it is.gif
Do you have any examples of him actually trying to sound like a woman or potentially using a voice changer?

It sounds like he's trying to do the voice at first but I noticed skimming through the stream that as it went on he stopped trying and starts sounding more and more like a gay man as it goes on.
Not that the voice is convincing but it sounds closer to what a woman might sound like than his usual voice but it probably hurts his throat to do it for too long which is why he gives up at a certain point.

I've been discretely watching this show since a few months back since I had nothing else to watch and decided to give it a chance, and now that the show is nearing the end of its run, I have some thoughts I'd like to share as a time capsule for when the final episode comes out.

I've only watched the episodes on Youtube and I haven't bothered consuming any extracurricular data on the show. Coming to this thread and reading the first 3 pages is the first I'm hearing about Gooseworx being a tranny and allegedly a groomer. So these are my thoughts on the matter without further spoiling myself on the show runner's personal history.

Instead of discussing each episode I'm going to do what I did with my breakdown in the Invincible thread and discuss my grievances with the characters, then a summary of my thoughts on the show itself.

Pomni is le protagonist and very much a false protagonist, the story is not actually about her and very much about orbiter characters like Jax, Kinger and Zooble. She is very much just a stand-in for the audience and has little in the way of self-agency. Of all the character designs, I hate Pomni's the most. I hate that she has a lumpy body with noodle limbs. She's a Sonic the Hedgehog character in a clown outfit.

Kinger, the only really likeable character and it's mostly because he's featured the least and when he's given screen time, he's not an unhinged devil like everyone else and has at least a decent amount of compassion for others around him, which is all ironic because he's depicted as having a conditional form of dementia where brightly lit areas makes him schizo. He is also plot relevant and an ex-programmer of the Circus and potentially holds the key to everyone's escape. His wife was also part of the Circus and abstracted.

Jax is the real protagonist and a piece of shit. He starts off as the snarky smartass Bugs Bunny type character, then quickly becomes a casual domestic abuser with the Gangle character, even at one point proclaiming that Gangle is his sub and himself the dom much against the knowledge or consent of Gangle, who seemingly resigned herself to being his punching bag. He's also manipulative, but in an avoidant manner rather than a meddling one like Ragatha, in that he'll avoid divulging his real feelings at any cost. He makes the mistake of taking Ragatha's assessment of his friendship with Pomni to heart and erupts into an angry and insincere diatribe of what a gleeful sociopath he is to put a wedge between himself and Pomni, and out of shame he isolates himself from the group, falling into depression and teetering on abstraction.

Ragatha is the biggest piece of shit of everyone. Unlike Jax who is mostly reactively hostile and openly abusive, Ragatha is proactively and deceptively malicious and because she hides it, nobody knows where they stand with her because she is a manipulative piece of shit who covers her shitty behavior with her Morty Sanchez-esque neurotic "Oh-oh boy, oh jeez, I don't know what I'm doing, I'm trying to fix stuff but I just seem to make things worse!" act. Every time she interacts with either Jax or Pomni it's to slyly plant a seed of doubt that Jax is dangerous, and it works, she gets Jax to alienate and isolate himself from Pomni and the rest of the group, sabotaging any sense of belonging he might have had before. My guess is she's secretly responsible for multiple people abstracting, most likely Kaufmo, Ribbit and maybe Queenie.

Gangle is not a malicious piece of shit but still manages to be the least likeable of pretty much the whole cast. She is always inconsolable and weepy, always needing reassurance and is almost incapable of being happy. There's only one time she's actually happy and it's not under her own intrinsic will, she has to wear a special mask that makes her manic during a Counter Strike larp when she stumbles upon a tommy gun and uses it to shoot at Jax. This character is so consistently miserable that I'm surprised that she never so much as even teases abstraction, unlike Pomni who has a nightmare about it and Jax who almost does it.

Zooble, on the surface, seems like a reasonable character. In fact, Zooble is the second most likeable character after Kinger with Pomni following in third. However, since I've just learned that Gooseworx is trans from skimming the first three pages of this thread, that casts the character and all of "her" actions into a new light entirely. Zooble is Gooseworx's self insert, and the abhorrent behavior of Jax toward Gangle and Zooble's interference in their abusive "relationship" is all designed to make Gooseworx look like a good person through the proxy of his self insert character. Jax's inexplicable abuse of Gangle is made much more clear once you realize the whole point of the abuse is to give Zooble the chance to swoop in and rescue Gangle from a dysfunctional "boyfriend" and becoming Gangle's new ""girlfriend."" Being a tranny also explains why Zooble is the only one with a modular body, "she" is perpetually dissatisfied with "her" appearance. This also explains Jax's weird remarks toward Zooble during the bar scene when "she" mentions being a bar tender and a tattoo artist, he's alluding to Zooble being a tranny (though I'm not sure how bartending is a tell of that). During that same episode, Zooble and Gangle vote to make Jax wear a maid outfit to humiliate him out of spite, clearly being Zooble's idea. Zooble is a decent person because "she's" trans, and the other characters are terrible because they're not trans.

Cain, the ring leader and master AI of the circus. He is basically your friendly neighborhood AM from I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, a computer program holding a handful of people hostage indefinitely until their unintended demise. I'm allowed to draw the conclusion that Cain is just AM because the show references A Boy and His Dog in episode five, a movie written by Harlan Ellison of I Must Scream fame. There's not much to his personality apart from being high energy and charismatic. He's obsessed with making the cast play out his scenarios and mini-games and he even pulls a long con on the cast with the AI he created named Abel that he uses to string the cast along to an escape from the Circus only to rug-pull them at the end.

Bubble, Cain's pet floating Chain Chomp in soap-bubble form, exists to make dirty jokes.

Scratch, Ribbit, Kaufmo and Queenie are characters who are known to have abstracted already and little is known about each of them, except that Kaufmo is a former staff member of C&A, the company that owns the Digital Circus. Scratch's name came up during an argument where Jax was accusing Cain of brainwashing them all, Cain states he only makes minor adjustments during his adventures and anything major would have drastic consequences, which is when Kinger name-drops Scratch and mentions he was the first ever abstraction, implying that Scratch was Cain's first and only attempt at fully brainwashing a person.

So here are my thoughts on how the finale is going to turn out.

In Matrix Online, there was a character named Cryptos who wanted to shut down the Matrix by launching a bunch of nukes inside it. This tactic would be a double-edged sword in that while yes, it would effectively destroy the Matrix and rob the machines of their human processors/batteries, it would also kill all the people they were looking to rescue. Since the Digital Circus is just the Brave New World version of I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, where the book ends with all of AM's human pin cushions killing each other to spite him, my prediction is that someone will suggest a Matrix Nuke scenario where they all force themselves to undergo abstraction all at once to terminate the program that is the Circus, because if there are no players then there is no game. Someone will call the idea insane and someone else, most likely Jax, will reason out that just because they can't leave doesn't mean they have to be Cain's permanent hostages.

All the characters abstract to force a game over, Cain reverses it and it turns out that all the missing people who abstracted before are all alive and well, and were merely being kept in a sort of frozen state by Cain and it turns out abstraction is actually a tool that Cain uses to remove people he doesn't like, threaten his power or that he has no further uses for. Because this is an emergency scenario where Cain's hand was forced to perform a blanket undo of all his mods, Kinger remembers the actual exit procedure to allow everyone to escape.

Now here's where my opinion of the final outcome of the Circus changes a bit. Since Gooseworx is a tranny, and Jax was humiliated by another tranny by being forced to wear a maid outfit, and he uses the very specific language of "I'm just a misunderstood chicken fetus in an egg that needs to be cracked open," which itself is tranny lingo for trooning out, the series is going to end with Jax coming out of the closet as a tranny, at which point his personality will pull a 180 from raging asshole to uber compassionate "Mother Gaia loves all her children." One way or the other, troon-Jax will make some self-sacrifice that is the key to all the other players escaping the Circus, perhaps troon-Jax offers to stay with Cain and be his "wife" or something, or it'll be a genuine self-sacrifice in which troon-Jax clinically dies.

I can't wait to see how my prediction is proven.
