There is this popular trend in progressive spaces to see a [broken AI/Robot doesn't understand humans and has a violent breakdown] and say it's meant to be autism and it really makes ya think. I wonder how autists feel when people think they're soulless machines who are prone to sudden irrational violent outbursts.
Almost as thinkful as the real trend of watching a character be toxic male, mentally ill and suicidal and giving him trans headcanons... Which is curiously the case with Jax (there were always headcanons but his got much more popular after episode 6 and some people only call him "daisy" now).
It's a part of the greater conversation about whether or not queer-coded or autism-coded characters do more harm than good for representation.
On one hand, it's a way to get past censors back in the day when conversations about these topics were taboo. We can't establish a woman to be a lesbian, so let's just have her compliment other women a lot. We can't have a character be established as trans, so let's have that character say vague statements about how they weren't proud of who they were in the past, and how much happier they are now.
On the other hand, it also creates this idea within people's mind that queer people and autists have a specific way of thinking and acting, and that if someone just so happens to meet this criteria, they are decidedly queer or autistic. Even within the LGBTQA+ community themselves, they start adopting this mindset for themselves and pass it onto others. If you're a boy, and you look at other boys with admiration, you must be gay. Maybe you just admire them? Maybe you want to try to be like them? Nope. Other people who've had similar experiences say it's because you're gay, so you MUST be gay.
Did Goose intend to write Caine to be autistic? Or did his behavior just so happen to check all the boxes people have for defining an autist?
Did Goose intend to write Jax as trans? Or did his behavior just so happen to check all the boxes people have for defining a trans person?
In the case of Jax, let's say Goose did intend for him to be trans. It says a lot about him that despite proudly claiming to be a trans woman, he wrote his trans character based on a checklist of stereotypical transgender tropes
