The Backrooms (+ Wiki) - Level 80085: The Kiwi Farms

I feel like that's my main gripe with how the Backrooms is handled: Adding too many "entities" and going too deep into it ruins the dream-like horror.
Too many levels/entities definitely takes away from the vibe it's going for. It gives the impression that there is an escape or something cool to find in there when it's supposed to be a maze full of dead ends.

I do agree somewhat on all of the levels and entities ruining the inmersion. However, the Smiler is the best out of all of them. Although between Mandela Catalogue, Walten Files, SMILE Tapes, and Backrooms, there's way too many smiling entities at this point.

They're also all trying to capitalize on Greenio's Personalized SM64 series which was far more unsettling and interesting in my opinion.

Also being "creeped out" by completely prosaic things like being alone in an empty space. Oh wow imagine if you weren't surrounded by people to offload some of the burden of uncertainty off onto? Spooooooky. You may have to navigate the area on your own! What if your phone died? Shit keeps me up at night.

I work with a zoomer who's always faffing on about creepypastas and I just laugh because he's afraid of shit that doesn't even register to me on a day-to-day basis.

The kinds of stuff they find spooky is so lame. For the most part I'm so over creepypastas. I don't think there is anywhere left to go with them. Everything was written while zoomers were still watching Nick Jr.

I'm really into surreal/creepy when it's well done. Kane Pixel's videos are great because he doesn't try to establish some gay lore. The current wiki and rehashed SCP-style page have absolute dogshit lore where there are communities and armies and weapons and bases and shit. Fuck off, don't make it gay. It's fine enough that you somehow slip out of normal reality into some bizzaro spacetime manipulation created by the government to save space.

I think it sells the whole idea short to just say it's gay zoomers with gaming addictions. To me it's a story about a failed government experiment that has had real world consequences that can't be undone or prevented. It's a developing universe and it's really fun to fill in the many gaps that are left open by the lack of central lore.

Also given how they show them easily moving the cam around, etc... they are clearly showing a handicam/palmcam rather than shoulder mount analog systems and the handicam/palmcams were all digital.
Agreed on all points, but as long as we're being pedantic, there are plenty of handheld camcorders shooting analog to VHS-C and Hi8.

True, but the were generally larger than the subsequent handicam/palmcam. A little harder to swing around, but it was indeed still possible.

Now, I've heard different explanations for the backrooms. Sometimes it's just a room with fluorescent lights and creatures chasing after you after you've glitched out of reality. Sometimes, it's sorted into "levels", where each time you glitch out into a progressively different part of reality. The latter version seems more in line with the trappings of contemporary creepy pastas, though, so it would make sense that some of the horror aspect would be diluted just from the existence of other "levels" alone. It makes it seem more like a video game and does a disservice to the original creepy-ish aspect of the backrooms.

I enjoy the prospect of other floors, levels, areas, or spaces in the Backrooms designed (or attempted to) for different purposes. Some are really cool, like the second level being an infinite parking garage. Obviously the experiment would need to also address the issue of parking and the space it takes up. But like the infinite meandering nonsensical halls of each floor, also infinite is the possibility for the number of floors where reality breaks down further and further as it strays from the intended outcomes in the initially designed spaces. Most of them are dumb though and very clearly just some teen cooming about FNAF like the party level or whatever. I really don't like that it's become decentralized lore to knock off SCP, but I do enjoy seeing different people run with it and create their own cohesive story.

Anyone who has heard about this has probably seen the above video. If you haven't give it a watch. I was surprised to learn it was created by a high school student who was just fucking around with Blender/some VFX software in their free time. I think the entire thing is CGI, with some real elements edited in. Extremely well done IMO.
As idiotic as the concept is now thanks to zoomers, at the very least people now found a new talent with this kid. I'm excited to see what kind of contents he will create down the line, the kid is undeniably talented

I usually find stuff like this too teen oriented , but I'll be the first to admit that I'm addicted and want more. I wish this guy would team up with Nick Antosca to create a Netflix series of this.

I'm genuinely curious what this thread's opinion on Broogli, he is a Backrooms Explained channel with videos discussing various levels & entities of the Backrooms Wikidot. I find his content to be serviceable at best and crap at worst.

I think adding monsters is unnecessary, just the idea of randomly glitching out of reality into a stranded area is disturbing enough (with the added long empty corridors) gives a good creepy vibe
Personally I think the Backrooms is creepier with no monsters in it: just an endless, lonely labyrinth of disgusting carpet and buzzing lights until you eventually go mad enough to bash your head against the wall. But I can understand why people are adding monsters for the sake of entertainment.
You should watch Control from 2003, Czech movie. Takes place in the subway, the characters are ticket inspectors. It's really good.
The one big mistake they are making with this "backroom" stuff is trying to simulate analog tape based recording.
Hey, they have the Red Giant plugin package and they're going to use it.

What is with all these explainer type channels now? Can zoomers not read anything? It is not like any of this is super secret lore. All this backrooms stuff is just wiki articles and videos. I could understand for a marble hornets type ARG, but this is SCP redux with less creativity.

I can't blame the guy for exploiting a niche, but I've never been a fan of sticking cartoon avis into videos. It makes me think this guy was a commentary channel before the algorithm picked up on his backrooms videos.

Social Blade indicates that the channel has no history prior to Backroommania. He has been growing extremely fast to if views and sub figures are anything to go by.

Because Zoomers want to join in the fandom/conversation without actually putting work in watching/reading the actual works. Posers, or something along the line
