I decided on a lark to try Budweiser because it was cheap and you can get a lot of it.

I always assumed it must be complete garbage but imagine my surprise that... I like it? I like it a lot actually.

What am I missing? Granted it's not very strong alcohol wise, but it tastes good, I was assuming it had to taste bad, it's a perfectly fine beer to just sip on.

Now I'm not saying there's anything wrong with stronger tasting beers or whatever, I'm just saying Budweiser is not bad, does it have a negative reputation because it's simply such a massive brand? Seems worth it given the price.

I've never enjoyed the taste of Budweiser, even freezing cold. My memory of them is always drinking then at room temperature for some reason, they're just that shite type of beer, a case sitting at the bottle of your pals bed. Necking some kronenburg 1664 since that's the only pint cans the local pakis do and they're going down not as bad as I remember them.

Okay: Kölsch, red ales, Scotch ales, Wit ales, Sours, Göse

Meh: Pale lagers

Shit-tier: IPAs

I’m a purist beer snob and the exact opposite of a hipster and I unironically enjoy PBR on a hot summer’s day.

In Germany there's a city called Darmstadt, in Darmstadt there's a place called (IIRC) Markplatz, in Markplatz there is-- or was-- a restaurant and brewery called the Ratskeller. Best beer I ever had was the hefeweizen there. Three tall glasses of that stuff and you didn't need to eat-- and you were packing a pretty good head charge.

Of course, first time I had it was in [year], the morning I and some coworkers had just returned from [middle eastern country the US touched inappropriately]. So that may have colored my impression, but it was still damn good beer.

the high life is shockingly nice, not sure how the pbr will out but I might start up a rotation of aged high life as I settle into Next Place

Just finished a six of Leinenkugel Summer Shandy. This isn't earth-shattering, but was pretty perfect for a sunny day. It's a fairly low gravity beer that tastes of Weissbeer and lemonade. Very nice for sitting in the sun. I'd imagine it'd be nice to start and finish mowing a lawn.

Definitely really good choice. There is this local polka festival near me in the summer and I always order a big pitcher of it to share. Good when hanging out on the deck or the patio too.

Also, I admit, I prefer beer over wine. I'll drink wine, sure, but beer is preferable. Though I am not a big fan of IPAs, I am very picky when it comes to those, but I do like red ales ands stuff.

One of my first big "craft" beer purchases was a Sam Adams winter variety similar to the one you posted only it had Cranberry Lambic instead of the black and brew and something else instead of chocolate bock. It's honestly shocking how bad their variety packs have gotten, and ol' fezziwig definitely doesn't taste as good as it used to (or my palate has changed). I still adore SA especially since they merged with Dogfish Head but they need to overhaul their variety packs in a big way. It's not that hard to figure out people are tired of IPA variation #776 and '76 lager
Anyways I'm broke atm so I'm back on the Yuengling dollar pints for my after-work wind down.

Totally agree on the variety packs, my dad used to get the Sam Adams ones every Christmas and my extended family would rip through them. Nowadays I don't even bother and just get smaller packs of stuff that seems interesting... been really into stouts lately from a few local state breweries. I'm almost to the point where I think they go with everything food wise.
