The Beer Thread

After a good workout, the best beer to cool down with is Natty Light. It goes down quick and smooth like water.

In a restaurant/bar setting depending on my mood, Bass Pale Ale if on tap (hard to find) or Michelob.

In my experience, Bass is only good for shandy.
 
maybe a better question to ask is "What is the worst beer you've ever had"????

Trust me, I've had a bunch... Billy Beer (give a shout out if you remember it), Schaefer, National Premium, Generic beer, Schmidt's, 7-eleven beer, Bud Ice, Bud Dry, Hamm's.... But the worst, and I mean the worst was this $4 a case shit called Red, White and Blue which was a low low end beer made by shit beer Pabst Blue Ribbon. God, you talk about some undrinkable crap. Heck, even after you were drunk and wanted more, you never would sneak that stuff in on your friends from high school or college. That shit could cause kidney failure on the spot.

BTW - How in the fuck did Pabst Blue Ribbon become so popular? it has to be the can design because that beer is still shit.

I got hooked on bitter beer while in Europe. Hated it at first, then started to tolerate it, then loved it. Bass is the closest thing I can find in the states. It's best to let settle for 5 or 10 minutes in the states because it's usually too cold to drink at first.

In my college years I drank Pabst if I was too poor to afford Coors at a bar. It's not terrible but it's literally the lowest I'll go. I know people who drink High Life, Micleys, and Old English. That being said, I've had a Pabst since then and didn't really enjoy it. But I move in a couple of hipster circles and had to drink what I was given until I could get a proper Craft Beer. Still drink Coors or Tecate when I'm on a budget though.

But the absolute worst beer I have ever had was Schlitz. I k ow it's technically a malt liquor but I can't ever finish even one. Now if you want a proper beer I hate. Reingold. I had one while in New York one summer and really hated it.
 
Steel Reserve 211, shit is fucking anger and coins.

Why I tried it? I was poor and in college for a long time so I'm used to cheap beer, I also drank in high school so I've had some malt liqour in my day, I can still fucks with 8 ball if it shows up.

But a good friend of mine was in dark place, not enough money to get rot gut whiskey or vodka bad off. He drank 211. I once tried it, oh hell no. I'm not even joking about this, one time a hobo was asking me to score him beer when I was getting some, I grabbed him a tall boy because he's a hobo, I'm not spending money to get him anything nice.

He turned it down and he had some hard core gin blossoms going on.

A bar I used to go to had a Trailer Park night where the regulars all got to drink a case of the cheapest beer the owner could get his hands on, hot dogs on white bread and we rocked out to 80s music. Shaffer showed up a lot, that's rough, Shiltz is really bad too, my dad said that was the poor kids beer in college back in his day. Also they were tied to the Mets at one point.

Fuck man. My gf accuses me of alcoholism because I'll drink Coors on a budget (she likes fruity drinks, especially Mai Tais and Mojitos) but I'll never drink Steel Reserve. I saw a buddy in college drink two fourties and was so fucked up he couldn't find his apartment.

I guess a funny story about IPAs which I don't drink anymore was I drank a six pack and wandered around in the woods. I got lost, nobody could find me, and I woke up sleeping on a tree. The next day I was hung over and dehydrated, I wandered for like an hour until I found a neighborhood. This old Mexican guy gave me a Tecate and called me a taxi.

I quit IPAs after that and stayed sober for about 2 weeks.

Worst beer I've ever had (that's not fucking pisslager) is Yardbird from Greene King, it tastes like vomit.

Worst beer I've ever had was Euro Shopper. That's an old brand that was only sold in the Netherlands, UK, Greece, Iceland, Portugal and Czechia. It only costed twenty cents per can and I believe a euro per sixpack. That should tell you everything you need to know.

I've only poured out three beers: Sam Adams Latitude 48 IPA, Red Hare SPF 50 and some local hop bomb I can't remember the name of back in California. The Sam Adams was just a shitty take on a west coast IPA I got in a Sam variety pack. Red Hare is generally a mediocre brand kept alive by people that insist on drinking "local craft beer" (their Lager tastes like Miller High Life at twice the price and everything else someone does better) and the SPF 50 is just their average IPA with grapefruit juice added.

Also every barrel-aged beer I've had has just tasted like a boozy mess. If I want my booze to taste like bad whiskey I'll fucking drink whiskey.

I forgot about the Malt Liquors, I guess there is a reason why poor people drink that stuff, it gets you drunk faster per dollar than anything else (well maybe Thunderbird wine). Sam Adams is overhyped for douche bags who enjoy paying too much for mediocre beer but want to look cool.

My fathers generation, damn they drank anything put in front of them and smoked filterless cigarettes

Now these pussies today enjoy the "Light" beer stuff, which like I said, is only good after exercise as it's basically water.
 
Just having a can of Brewdog's Christmas beer (Get Out Claus)

It's actually really good. Brewdog really should do more Stouts.

The citrus or "hazy" IPA trend is literally sickening imo. If I wanted to drink a shitty overly bitter mimosa I'd just drink a shitty overly bitter mimosa ya know? Glad that trend is dying down some with winter.

The malt liquor one with the bull on it is all that's sold where I live, but also there's an original Schlitz which is your typical everyday beer.

Had two glasses of Fat Tire, and that's some good stuff. Another good beer that I like is Warsteiner.
 
My bread and butter is a Sierra Nevada, something stronger I'll go Lagunitas or something smoother I'll go Scrimshaw ale.
 
Enjoying a Blue Point Winter Ale, the first beer I've had in a month.
 
I can't spare hard earned money in too pricey beverages, I only drink cheap wine and an ginger's cognac called Dreher.
Sometimes I drink Caracu too but only with barbecue.
