Another post on mental health services, since one of the people in the Memology videos triggered :autism: in me.

One YouTuber describes therapy as "sitting on a stranger's couch in a sterile environment," which is simply untrue for modern therapists. Many professionals strive to create a welcoming environment that is the exact opposite of sterile. It's considered a way to improve the effectiveness of your treatment, even though it's a relatively subtle thing. All of these YouTubers follow the same script of "Well, I've never talked about my mental health to my [Family/Friends], but I heard about this service and I know it can help you guys, because it really helped me." The one Elle girl's "breakdown" came across to me as something at the same level as a high school thespian.

I know some of these shills do (allegedly) struggle with mental health issues; Shane Dawson's eating disorder being one that I was already aware of. It struck me as suspicious when Kati says she "sensed" his eating disorder, when as far as I'm aware, was common knowledge, and Boogie (may he Rest in Power) is a one-man soap opera.

I mentioned Scientology in my previous post, but I realized that CoS takes a similar (although much more extreme) approach of putting down traditional mental health treatments. When you have a lot of school shootings being connected to improper mental health treatment, or lack thereof, I wonder if BetterHelp will eventually find its way in the middle of a tragedy. (Though this is very unlikely)

I'm certainly interested in how this will play out.

Something else that may or may not be of importance:
Dawson claimed he was going to take a break from twitter for a while (archive), but went back on that in less than 24 hours, saying he's going "full tea" for the fourth video. (archive)

Et tu, Wisecrack?

I really expected better of them. Though, I'd imagine some of the youtubers they approached just didn't do their research.

I'm pretty sure thats how they got people roped into this so quickly. They somehow managed to land some big name youtubers. Then the rest followed suit, becuase if someone like Phillip Defranco can get behind them then they must be good.... Thats why so many people are disappointed in him. He failed to miss these obvious signs and endorsed them. I'll be personally interested in how he handles this or doesn't.

this is the lowest viewership for a Tonka stream in a LONG time. Null should call in and boost it :)
Donga trying to latch onto internet things. What else is new. He's not gonna be much help in informing the masses. Not even papa null can save that burning ship.

I'll be honest, I'm not terribly surprised that the Youtubers listed wanted to do this. Some of them are people I like, but I think it's pretty important that these people not be terribly hated; Youtube is not a job, Youtubers don't make too much money from just making videos, and the next best way for these people to keep making money is to shill, so I don't blame them.
But yeah, this is a terrible service and I hope everybody who shilled this learns from this experience.
A lot of youtubers will shill anything for a few bucks, which explains not only how Candid got big but why so many YouTube partners tend to have advertisements dot the videos themselves. One of the YouTubers I respect (Louis Rossmann) did a video on this very topic when NordVPN wanted to sign him up as a paid shill, to which he promptly made a video to other YouTubers saying not to do this:

It shows they lack integrity, especially when they're shilling stuff they don't actually use or worse (in the case of this and Candid) it blows up in their face.

Fucking hell, is this guy a chosenite as well? (Yeah, he is)

He appears to have a completely public facebook, and somehow he didn't shoah it, although his LinkedIn is down... wow.

This guy has a public fucking facebook, so I dug up some interesting posts:

He constantly shills his shitty app (there's a lot more cases of this, too lazy to screencap):

His company appears to even have an HQ with quite good environment:

Some of his mail and shit: (why would you run a scam and have a completely open kikebook account with thousands of photos?)
These 2 are uploaded recently:

This is from 2012. From the photo above, it seems to match? There's a 12 and the words VAN DY....

Here's his front yard, like the neocon kike he is, he supports Hillary. (I don't like the idea of posting other people's kids, so I censored the kid)

Appears to be a match.

Here's another fairly recent one:

2018: Run a scam service and have a public facebook profile with your fucking dox.
There's some other dumb shit I won't bother posting as of now.

Doing shady shit for money is literally the definition of a scumbag.
If you can't make enough money from Youtube to have it as your full time job, then don't. There are plenty of great content creators who make videos part-time or as a hobby. They shouldn't be excused for scamming their fanbase because otherwise, shock horror, they might actually have to get a real job.

It's not important that they aren't hated, but hate is a bit OTT unless this service causes some real damage. If it's not a job they wouldn't need to shill, but the list is full of full time youtubers, many making good bank. The issue isn't them making the extra on the side but choosing what to shill poorly, thus any backlash is deserved.

For the uninitiated to Markuspeak™, that video is a great introduction.
It does miss a couple of points relevant to this kurfluffle:
1) He's actually doing things with stuff he can sell to others. Most of the NEETs on that list don't have that luxury.
2) There is a difference between NordVPN shilling for a eletronics guy and a videogame streamer. With all the shady chinese imports, you must have a high level of trust with an audience, even if they see you using it in a video because the video could be doctored or otherwise rigged. A videogame streamer is going to be playing the actual game, much lower levels of trust required.
3) It looks like he's doing his own marketing. Most of the folks on the shill list seem to work with networks - networks that would handle the first level contact with advertisers and, you would hope as a creator, screen out the ones that are obvious scams like NordVPN.

Some of these people are scumbags, some probably got duped by being demoed a good service.

Imagine you're a celebrity, you've got an agency that handles your promotions. They say "Telsa wants you to shill thier new car, they'll let you drive for a couple weeks". Hell, maybe they even give you one. You drive it, its fine, you shill.
Well it turns out the one you're given isn't the production model, and the production model has a defective cross bar in 50% of the cars that at 500 miles causes it to fracture and fly upwards, stabbing the driver in the balls.
You aren't the scumbag in this situation. You never got stabbed in the balls by a crossbeam. If you're an adverage person, you simply remove your shilling for the Telsa Ballstabber. If you're a good person, you issue an apology to your fans explaining you never got stabbed in the balls, your vehicle was fine; you shilled for what you thought was a good product.

Where you cross over to being the scumbag is if you keep making new ads for Telsa after it comes out their car stabs people in the balls.

Oh for sure, but even a lot of the NEETs shilling stuff should actually shill for something related to their channel and do the basic research.

Started wondering about this when I heard a therapist from the service was babbling about YouTubers being sociopaths on Shane Dawson's channel, which I shouldn't have to say is extremely unprofessional in every way. Sad, but not shocked, to learn it's all a scam taking advantage of really vulnerable people.

Anyway, here's a Tumblrina's experience:

It's not even an inclusive scam! :(
