I love white cardinals, I think they are so pretty. This happens in 1 in every 1800 birds (or at least cardinals, anyways). It's caused by leucism, which is a lack of pigment in the feathers.
We have many doves that come to our bird feeder, but this is a late season baby that can't quite seem to shake those down feathers. She's so ugly, and I love her the most.
Also her mother is hardcore molting and looks just as bad. But they've been leaving behind many feathers so their rent is paid in full.
