Decided that going out into the wild outdoors and blowing my knees to pieces doing that stupid 'running' thing was a grand idea.

Only good thing to come of it was seeing a pair of woodpeckers and snagging a pathetic picture with potato-phone.

There's a joke here somewhere about installing a tweeter in your pickup, but I'm not good enough to make it:
(Does anyone know why they peck the sides of the tub like that?)
They're pecking it because they think they see food! It's probably just some dust, but they're silly little idiots at this stage, they don't know anything <3

I found a parrot breeder near me who has the species of goober I want. They've been sending my husband and I pictures of the cute lil nuggets.

I'll try to dig up pics, but some random house in the neighborhood I bike through on the way home from work has somehow got like, three falcons or some manner of raptor regularly chilling around their place, to the point I've had to brake while they cross the road because "lol fuck you I'm a raptor I don't care whate'err I do what I want"
I dunno if they're a family or if it's some weird adaptation of the modern suburban raptor, but they're pretty cool.

I would like to say that jesses training with an insanely intelligent parrot is fantastic.

Until the bird unties the flippin' knot in the leather that holds the jesses straps in the anklet, shakes it off his foot, and makes happy 'cluck cluck' noises at you to let you know you've been defeated.

I'm now superglueing the knots in these damned things.

I love how easy dove calls are to make and often times go back-and-forth with my local doves, of which there are bunches.

Good news - superglue survived the one attack the jesses got today. And the bird got to glower at geese.

He's starting to calm a bit because he's realizing that jesses means outside and the potential to go on a short flight. Still a screaming bitch when he gets them placed on his feet and taken off, though. Gotta towel his ass to preserve my fingers.

Picture for proof/prosperity of a whole flock of assholes consisting of two separate bird species.

I get to take home my Bourke's parakeet this Friday. My husband and I are super stoked!

Aww, look at him look at the geese. I've always loved geese, Canadians or not, because the goslings are super easy to imprint, and are incredibly sweet. My parents used to hatch them out in our incubator at home, and I'd always pick ouandne to be "my baby." They would follow me out to the pond, around the house, everything. They would "forget" about me by the time they left puberty, but it was always a fun few months.

I still joke with my husband about getting a "guard goose" for our chickens. ;)
