How much do you love birds?

I almost won a war against my seed addict budgies. Lately I've been feeding them a disgusting slop mix of seeds mixed with whole and powdered pellets during the day and nothing but pellets during the night so they'll hopefully eat them in the morning when they're hungry, but two days ago they immediately went to the bowl and started eating the pellets.
My victory didn't last at all because by the morning they wouldn't even touch them. I had to re-add seeds. The war's not over yet.

(My little guy always gets a bald spot above his cere when he molts, it's oddly cute)

Was she the green and yellow budgie you mentioned last page? Poor girl. I'd recommend keeping an eye on animal shelters in your area and posting about her on lost and found pet groups if you haven't yet. Facebook groups are surprisingly good for this.

Poor bird, I wish you good luck.
You did what you could. It's always unlikely to get a lost bird back even when you do everything you can, something similar happened to me not long ago.

When I lost my green cheek conure, I went around the neighborhood where he was last seen and shook a bag of food around, the rustling plastic made him cry out for me. We soon located him in a tree and safely got him out. Have you tried this?
 
Seeds, definitely. Just get yourself some wild bird feed and it'll be much healthier for them than the typical offerings.

Frozen peas and small chunks of veggies are great for water fowl, too.

My gray parrot loves McDonald's french fries, chicken nuggets and egg mcmuffins, but he's a turd that is a poor representative of bird-kind. Don't follow his example and feed our wild birb friends these items.
 
I get lots of sparrows and much rarer goldcrests coming to my house, I usually just give them some generic seed mix and nuts, sometimes I get magpies which love nuts
on a good day I can get up to 15 sparrows just chattering in front of my front door

These are a couple of photos I took many years ago. They’re still some of my favourites. I hen I was shooting, I had a cockatoo on my head playing with my hair. I have a photo of this somewhere.
 
I have a pair of falcons nesting in the garden, and Jesus Christ, they are fighting with everyone.
Pigeons near the birdbath? One of the falcons starts screeching. Crows hopping around the lawn? Screeching. Magpies being mischievous? Screeching. Finches in the trees? Yep, better go ballistic.
I really love birds, but man, that's just too much.
One of the crows made it a sport and it's actively provoking them. At least someone is having a good time.
 
There's a bird thread??? I am late to the party.

My yard list is sitting at 47 species. I really want to get it up to 50. I currently have three baths, a mixed seed hopper feeder, and a nyjer feeder, but when I have time I also put out a suet feeder, hummingbird feeders, and and an oriole feeder. I have tried mealworms (dry and live) in the past in the hopes of attracting Western Bluebirds, but no takers. I feel bad leaving the mealworms to die in the sun in vain. It's frustrating because I know bluebirds frequent the nearby park. Come to my yard!

They like sunflower seeds. I get the ones with no shells, just seeds cut into smaller bits (sunflower chips.)

You can get them in the gardening section of Walmart (sunflower, NOT safflower.) You’ll get lots of bluebirds with these. Mine come back every year and bring their babies once they learn to fly.

Meanwhile, this handsome guy has been coming to my yard every day

I like their color and stripey chest and yellow eyes. This one mostly forages on the ground under the feeders but has been venturing up to the feeders more lately. And he loves taking baths.
 
I've recently had grackles, robins and blue birds all fighting over the bird bath in my back yard while the chickadees just smartly went to the rather large goldfish pond and took their baths in the overflow waterfall.

I was probably six inches away from this fellow for minutes on end, snapping photos. They can be very tame birds. They’ll even let you touch them often times.
