"eee-eee-eee-eee-eee!"

- panic flyaway noise of a mourning dove

"Ooo-OO ooo... ooo..."

- the non-panic noise of a mourning dove

(heard those noises more than usual because of the nest near my place)

however, they are most well known in the japanese region of hokkaido, as they are suited to the cold weather there. in fact, they're so popular that you can find hordes of photographers near small flocks of them! they've recently become somewhat of a mascot for the area. locally they are called shima-enaga.

other times they have been referred to as snow fairies.
  • their special abilities are
  • being extremely small
  • licking water from icicles
  • cuddling up side by side to roost
  • being one of the gods' perfect creatures

thanks for coming

I learned there's a purple martin nest in the neighborhood, so here's some pictures I stole from reddit.

Their call is really cool and distinct, and I often hear them overhead when I'm lounging in my pool in the afternoons.
The gold-crested night heron fledglings are also running around the surrounding churchyard, and they're so fucking stupid looking, and I love them. I can't post a picture, because lol self dox, but they're literally running on their long, goofy legs, and honking at people.

One of the goober juvenile herons landed in my yard!!

My chickens were very angry at it, and kept wailing like it was a hawk. It's so cute, though!

Definitely more doveness. New birb (or that same one) has laid egg in nest.

And also previously crappy nest was built up more by whoever uses that now.
Dove nests are the tin hovel held together by bungee cords of the bird kingdom.

It might be the same pair double nesting! Very exciting. I hope their second brood is successful.

Can you please show us your roundest chicken? I like round birds. It's the ideal bird shape.
Not a chicken, but here is a very round takahe:

This guy has macaws that are trained to fly free but they always come back home. You can actually train parrots to do this.

He has emus and goats too. I’m jealous.
