update: Looks like one of them may not have made it (the one with less feathers). The other one seems OK though.
update again: The baby that is still around is looking more like an adult dove now. And the mom now stays at the nest less these days.

edits to add: The other baby bird definitely didn't make it, unfortunately. Mombird ejected the body from the nest area earlier today.

however, they are most well known in the japanese region of hokkaido, as they are suited to the cold weather there. in fact, they're so popular that you can find hordes of photographers near small flocks of them! they've recently become somewhat of a mascot for the area. locally they are called shima-enaga.

other times they have been referred to as snow fairies.
  • their special abilities are
  • being extremely small
  • licking water from icicles
  • cuddling up side by side to roost
  • being one of the gods' perfect creatures

thanks for coming

I learned there's a purple martin nest in the neighborhood, so here's some pictures I stole from reddit.

Their call is really cool and distinct, and I often hear them overhead when I'm lounging in my pool in the afternoons.
The gold-crested night heron fledglings are also running around the surrounding churchyard, and they're so fucking stupid looking, and I love them. I can't post a picture, because lol self dox, but they're literally running on their long, goofy legs, and honking at people.

Definitely more doveness. New birb (or that same one) has laid egg in nest.

And also previously crappy nest was built up more by whoever uses that now.
It might be the same pair double nesting! Very exciting. I hope their second brood is successful.

Can you please show us your roundest chicken? I like round birds. It's the ideal bird shape.
Not a chicken, but here is a very round takahe:
