A White woman being offended of how Black people are portrayed in a cartoon created by a BLACK PERSON?

Remember that time when Riley was trying out for a basketball team and Shaq was doing an interview out of nowhere?
That's actually my favorite Riley episode because it shows how badly Riley's flaws overpower his strengths. His natural talents didn't make up for his lack of fundamentals like keeping his mind on the game or passing the ball or aiming for the backboard.

What I love about Aaron McGruder's ability with tone and content is that he can put up a character like Uncle Ruckus, who he obviously doesn't agree with, and not just make this insane, bug-eyed character a complete lunatic, but actually lets him make a point from time to time.

It's obvious the blackpilled Huey, in both senses of the word blackpilled, is McGruder's self-insert, but he doesn't just reduce people with other viewpoints to pure stereotypes, and even when they're comedic, like Tom DuBois, the pathetic black liberal who is a prosecutor who puts black people in jail, while himself being such a coward and so terrified of ever breaking the law that he doesn't even speed. And of course he's married to a white woman.

This is my favorite Boondocks moment.

One of my favorite arguments that this show gave was how destructive modern black culture was to black people in general. They even twisted the knife further insuiating that they wouldnt fucking understand the meaning and would just buy merch and get into the media hype. American Black culture is self destructive and yet here we are now. Not a God damn lesson learned.
Uncle Ruckus was right all along.

Uncle Ruckus was right all along.
And the most successful and close to happiness character is Tom Dubois, who everyone considers a pussy. Even though he did, in fact, "play by the White man's rules," got a job sentencing ass rapists to prison and had unprotected sex with a white woman at least once in his life.

Meanwhile, Robert Freeman constantly engages in vainglorious attempts to date women young enough to be his daughter and grifts what little civil rights cred he has.

“Boondocks” is legitimately one of the best animated shows. It has such raw critique of black/American culture, even getting what would be termed “offensive” nowadays (e.g. ‘nigga moment’). Season 4 was hyper dogshit, save for “The New Black” IMO, but 1-3 were definitely solid and filled to the brim with top-tier satire, a sense of humor that actually made me laugh, and a unique animation style, especially considering the subject matter of the show.

That being said, I think a reboot is a fucking terrible idea. Not to mention the fact Witherspoon died, I don’t think a lot of what made the show great would fly nowadays. I think that’s why season 4 sucked ass, with the only substance being shit pop culture references.

It worked so well because it was an anomaly. There are a ton of shows that critique every aspect of American culture but the Boondocks was one of the first to critique African American culture. The only other I can really think of to even touch on the topic was the Fresh Prince but half of its running jokes were about how disconnected the family was from other black people. As smart as the show was the Boondocks would never have gone anywhere if its creator wasn't black since it would have immediately been accused of racism.

Yeah, no doubt the idea would’ve been shitcanned and the creator blackballed from the industry for the next 999 years for even suggesting something close to “The Boondocks” were he not black.

I've definitely seen a few woketards (none of whom has ever accomplished anything) literally accuse McGruder of being racist.

I seem to be the only one aware of The PJs. It was a show starring Eddie Murphy as a superindendant trying to maintain a Section 8 housing building.

Funnily enough, that one caught a lot of heat from social activist types, most notably Spike Lee, who bitched and moaned that the show was promoting black stereotypes. This despite the show being created by a black comedian and had a mostly black cast.
