The Starlight thing was dumb. But the show was good despite the woke they added and it wasn't so in your face to completely ruin the episodes.

Overall I liked the first three episodes and I'm excited to see the rest of the season.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if homelander always being so nice to black noir in the show was a callback to the novels. Of course the only person homelander can be nice to is another version of himself.

All in all, im emotionally invested in multiple side arcs, so far. Thats usually a good sign..

Actually in the comics Homelander being nice to Black Noir is what caused all the problems in the first place. Homelander also didn't know about Black Noir being his clone. It's actually kind of hilarious how it worked out. Now I'm wondering where they are going after Black Noir covered for Homelander wrecking that chemical plant last season because I thought it was leading to the clone reveal.
 
Just finished watching the three episodes. Really enjoyed them. Feel like there was a lot of incorrect doom posting about the show that was very misleading.

I'll post my full thoughts when the season is done.

I agree. You will always have your diehards that will interpret any deviation from the original plot as cardinal sin. Coming from someone that didnt read the comics, im absolutely loving the show. From what ive gathered, the deviations in plot have been handled very well; this is not game of thrones part 2. You can tell they took their time, and really focused on the theme and what fans would have expected from the comics (without coming off as pandering or overtly political). With the characters genders they did change, they did so to advance their own plot and not simply to "represent women". Stormfront being a manipulating nazi gf to homelander is just hilarious, and made sense with the idea that Vought always has an ace in the hole in terms of keeping Homelander at bay.

Cant wait for friday lol. Or technically thursday night if amazon stays consistent with their drop times. Dont fuck this up, bezos.

Holy shit, thanks for sending me that link. I just went down the comics rabbit hole, and got caught up with the end plot. One thing im confused about is, in the comics, was homelander less overtly evil/psychotic than he was in the show? That wiki made it sound like all the psychotic shit homelander did was actually just black noir. Was homelander more of a morally grey person, just looking for fame/power, or did he also do fucked up shit alongside all the shit black noir did in his name as well? In the end, I think im kind of glad they scrapped that storyline mainly because i don't know how id feel if at the end of the show, during some final showdown, they would have turned the camera and it would have been all "surprise, all the bad shit was done by black noir, and hoemlander was actually just some corporate shill looking for stardom". Correct me if im wrong though. Either way, im sure they could have made it work if they chose to go that route (obviously the show would have been different up to this point)
 
Why - WHY - did someone think Karl Urban was a good choice for a Cockney character?! The man can barely speak in his native accent, FFS. His only truly good role was in Dredd, and that was because he didn't talk for most of it.

Yes and No. They toned down the attrocities that both Homelander & Black Noir commit. Black Noir does really sick shit, often while dressed as Homelander. In the comics Butchers wife is brutally raped by Black Noir and there's no kid. But Homelander in the comics orally rapes Starlight and forces her to also give oral to A-train and Black Noir. Homelander and the rest of the Seven also kill people or leave them to die. There's nothing morally grey about Homelander in the comic, he's rotten and evil there too. But he's just not as completely ducked up as Noir. They are making Homelander more psychotic and unstable in the show. I don't remember comic Homelander pushing a suicidal person off a roof, he was too focused on his image to do something like that with the cameras around, but it's been about a decade since I read them.

Yeah....the second episode literally starts with Vort using BLM/LGBT/etc as a way to sell Donut Hamburgers to a bunch of people. The shows "everything you hold sacred will be used to con you to make money" through line is refreshing in a way.

Wow a show "where the corporations use stuff like BLM to sell merchandise and products and don't actually care about the cause" is a plot point is surprisely refreshing to hear and surprising to say the least.

Exactly. Hell even A-Train's whole "I'm not as fast now, let's market me being black as a new gimmick" thing is so cynical.

But I'm sure people saw those scenes, laughed but then when the NRA gun show scene happened they got upset they were being mocked.

It seems the show is making fun of both political sides. Of course people on here would get mad when they make fun of right wingers but ignore the jabs at the left. I mean the fact that the show is making fun of both sides is a rare in the entertainment field. I mean the show is making fun of the fact that corporations don't actually give a shit about BLM and only using it for profit is halious in my opinion.

The whole show is like this, so it worth for some of the more stupid scenes.

The show also does this thing where they show Black Noir's face in the flashback/past but never in the present, to trick people into thinking it's Black Noir under the mask.

Personally looking forward to seeing Homelander get his ass kicked.

Oh so they could actually pull the twist form the comics than. I mean it's possible that they are showing him maskless in the flashbacks to make you think that their not following the comic storyline. Hence you think it's the same character both past and present. The writers are clearly hiding something there. If they aren't showing his face in present day
