I'd make the argument that Homelander isn't exactly sanctimonious. A douche? Absolutely but he's also a very broken and pathetic person which does makes sense considering the twist that's revealed later.

A lot of the fucked shit Homelander did was actually done by Black Noire who's a Homelander doubleganger. Homelander doesn't actually remember doing all that shit so he has a mental breakdown and identity crisis over it until he actually discovers the truth - and gets killed by Black Noire right then and there.

Now it might just be my rose tinted glasses so this is just my opinion.

From what I've seen, the show version does add a lot of different layers to the man which I've come to understand is a good thing given how popular the character is.

Considering he is now meant to be a Trump stand-in, that's pretty funny too but I think it at least meant that the writers either failed into success or wanted to write a very complex character despite Kripke.

How tf does Homelander always manage to lose The Boys after every encounter with them? He's literally Superman and could track them down easily even from that Freedom Camp after he went after A-Train? I know in the comics it's a bit different but from the series I guess it is really Homelander not wanting to kill Hughie and Butcher because reasons...

Sage got so fucking fat from eating all that Taco Bell in real life but thank fuck she's second banana this season to Homelander because she was so insufferable last season.

I'm guessing that Black Noir isn't even that actor that replaced him. It's someone else. Maybe they're doing the comic twist afterall?

Soldier Boy is the best character in this series bar none. Homelander and Butcher carry the series mostly but when SB is on screen he's the GOAT as far as this woke version of The Boys go.

2. Sage is still insufferable but at least Homelander is putting the boot on her neck a little more and shutting her the fuck up. For the most intelligent, which would imply rational, being on earth, she’s incredibly biased, bigoted, hateful, and sneering as a person. I just don’t buy it.
3. Could explain Eric kripke’s cryptic message, if they shoehorn in the clone arc, it would feel incredibly random and rushed. I think most show fans would say this is a terrible idea.
4. Soldier boy, Butcher, and Homelander carry the show, fully agree. Everyone else is cannon fodder or just embarrassing.

Also what the fuck happened to MM’s actor? I get that he’s supposed to be depressed and lacking from the camp, but damn dude really did lose a lot of his moxxy.

I think he went off steroids and probably did some ozempic also.
A quick Google search says he did it for health reasons so I believe my speculation is probably right.

Is the Female talking this season because Erin Moriarty fucked up her face so badly she can't talk and they needed to give dialogue to someone else to stretch out the run time?

Oh yeah Kimiko just talking out of the blue especially with an American accent and with fully formed sentences in just a year? Wtf totally dumb. I assumed they had her do that because Frenchie wasn't around to translate her sign language but seriously what a dumb choice for her this season. I think her just saying a few choice words here or there would've sufficed but no they go full in making her a Kawaii girl so you can tell how deliberately they did that. Again I think if it was just Frenchie's delusional imagination him thinking she talks like that that would've been fine I suppose but nope. Maybe the actress got them thru contractual means to let her speak instead? I dunno seerms contrived and dumb.

Antony Starr is quite literally the main reason I’m still watching the show. Shame he hasn’t and still won’t win any awards for this.

They’re gonna de-power him aren’t they? I feel like A-Train’s monologue was foreshadowing. Then his final scene is him in a cell crying like a little bitch about being alone or something.
 
I liked the insinuation in the episode that only white people survive V1, and all the jews + africans experimented on could not handle it and thus died.
