So…could that lead to a cursed Labour-Tory coalition if they were to win enough seats?
If needs be.
Labour is already copying straight out of the modern German playbook wailing about needing to "Defend Democracy" from "Radical Populism".
The Tories best hope for the next election is to survive and remain the official opposition. If that was ever seriously threatened, and I'm not convinced we are there yet, it would happen.
It's too early to solve yet but the "Right"...And by that I mean "Right of Lenin", do have a serious issue with division. Labour may hemorrhage votes if polling stays as it is, but there is no serious alternative to them on their side of the spectrum.
They may have less support, but they're still likely to be the largest party next time around unless Reform can convince the Tories to team up and not field candidates in each others boundaries. The odds of this though, are minimal. I know the Proportional Representation passed the Commons vote for debate recently, but Labour is not going to let this pass when they've currently got no opposition for the next election.
Though maybe will be shocked. After a century of irrelevance the Liberal Democrats might capitalise on the dissatisfaction and, in an act of opportunism and genius, destroy the gammons and beg Europe for permission to use the Euro and become a vassal of Germany.
Edit: Apparently that last bit was taken seriously whew.
