I don’t really hold with all this talk of hundreds of arrests and 24 hour courts. So far I’ve seen one pic of one 18 year old who got sentenced to 2 months. I think, like the standing armies just waiting in the wings, it’s all a bluff. They might have nabbed a handful of unmasked people who were live streaming from their personal accounts using their real name, but if they’d arrested hundreds they’d be plastering their white faces everywhere, like the poor 18 year old lad. But they’re not.

The mass arrests won't be done overtly. The coppers won't knock on your door and say "You're under arrest for XYZ" to 400 people.

They're going to get you on the roads. Your details are on the system, the traffic cops will get pinged when a rioters car drives by. 1 mph over the speed limit, not driving normally, on the phone, lowered suspension...anything they can, they'll get ya. These people are marked.

To be fair though, cocaine is ridiculously common here for some reason. At my job about half my coworkers use it on a night out and that's the ones I know about. It's easier to get hold of than weed. It seems very normalised here in a way it isn't in the US.

Plus people grew up a lot faster back then, not inconceivable that a good portion of the men who died in the World Wars already had kids back home.

Also the caliphate brought stability where there was small empires that were frequently at war but the golden age abruptly ended once the caliphates were no longer stable, due to Mongol invasions or as you mentioned, lower IQ Arabs cared less about things like philosophy. Islam had little or nothing to do with the Golden Age of Islam.

Plus people grew up a lot faster back then, not inconceivable that a good portion of the men who died in the World Wars already had kids back home.

Entire lineages of the British nobility were slaughtered in Flanders. The Army Drill called for the officers to lead from the front in all cases, and thus they were killed disproportionately. I’d have to find the source, but I believe that Britain lost the most, percentage-wise, of its noble sons than any of the other participant nations.
