They did ban it, it's the Death Camp of Tolerance.Absolutely, they are petrified of people like Lowe because people listen to him, and with Reform on the decline, it gives Lowe a lot more spotlight. Scott Tennerman has been listed as the most perfect South Park episode. Why the fuck did they ban awesom-o. Yet they did not ban the Museum of Tolerance episode. They missed a really good punchline there.
Don’t give them ideas, they’re already going after ShakespeareIt's right out of mythology/Shakespeare: Titus Andronicus; do they ban that also?
It’s not that hard to find “banned” South Park episodes online, so all this will do is likely increase the watch count of those episodes but deny Sky the advertising revenue. It's shit like this which is why I'm going out of my way to build an archive of older British comedy and stuff that I actually like. God forbid the day comes when 'Allo 'Allo is banned because it pisses off the frenchies.
fookin yikesDon’t give them ideas, they’re already going after Shakespeare
Several years ago, findings of a research project between Shakespeare's Birthplace Trust and the University of Birmingham's Dr Helen Hopkins indicated that the writer's works "benefits the ideology of white European supremacy", The Telegraph reports.
The research argues that European culture was forced to become the world standard for high art via "colonial inculcation" and that Shakespeare was deployed as a symbol of "British cultural superiority".
Shakespeare wrote Othello, a play whose plot is largely contingent on an interracial relationship and how the play's non-white protagonist is perceived by others due to not being white/Venetian (whether he was black or Arab might be up for debate) — he literally did racism=bad/colourblind plotline before anyone else as far as I'm aware. Did they consider he's famous because he's good and came up with a ton of shit that's commonplace in English vernacular?
Irrelevant. It has no black people in positions of authority, portrays white europeans as good, and isn't constantly reminding people of the sins of colonialism. It even has likeable german characters.A central and ongoing joke was how bad the English are at speaking French and frequently the English characters were as bumbling and incompetent as the German.
It’s absolutely not a joke at the French expense.
I think the part in the hyperlinked quote I posted was their central argument, but the overall project is the erasure of Whiteness as defined by jews, in the style of Noel Ignatiev.Shakespeare wrote Othello, a play whose plot is largely contingent on an interracial relationship and how the play's non-white protagonist is perceived by others due to not being white/Venetian (whether he was black or Arab might be up for debate) — he literally did racism=bad/colourblind plotline before anyone else as far as I'm aware. Is this because of Shylock?
Those Germans were trying to prevent the formation of the State of Israel. They were also members of the German Workers Nationalist Socialist Party.Irrelevant. Jews le good, wypipo le bad, get it chudcel? Those Germans were trying to prevent the formation of the State of Israel. They were also members of the German Workers Nationalist Socialist Party.
How could a Guardian reader not love them?
It's totally allowed to make fun of the French. They're more likely to ban it over Lt. Gruber and his little tank.As for Allo Allo, it will only be banned for angering Frenchmen if someone complains on their behalf without asking them.
This was a stroke of genius on the writers' parts. They use accents to convey which language people are speaking and in one scene, Michelle (of the Resistance) who speaks both French and English is translating between René and the airman by literally just switching accents between them. Total genius. And the fact that the English spy speaks French so badly is conveyed by his having a very bad French accent.A central and ongoing joke was how bad the English are at speaking French and frequently the English characters were as bumbling and incompetent as the German.
Having a national flag outside your house (more usually the England flag than the Union Jack though), is associated with nationalism and nationalism we are taught, is the province of racists. It's also associated with football fans which all the elites must pretend to be but which they secretly despise.I've always wanted to know why in the UK at least if someone has the union flag (union Jack) displayed outside their house, it means they're low-class, racist chavs? God forbid having an English flag either. Where countries like in America it's completely normal to have your nations flag etc?
Funny that you read this as pro-interacial marriage. I'm not saying it is not or cannot be read that way but Othello the play has always put me in mind of an honour killing. Othello is a Moor (Muslim) and when someone comes to him and tells him his wife has been unfaithful and this unfaithfulness becomes public, Othello murders her, despite professing his love to her and agonizing over what he must do.Shakespeare wrote Othello, a play whose plot is largely contingent on an interracial relationship and how the play's non-white protagonist is perceived by others due to not being white/Venetian (whether he was black or Arab might be up for debate) — he literally did racism=bad/colourblind plotline before anyone else as far as I'm aware. "They're just as English as you and me!"Don’t give them ideas, they’re already going after Shakespeare
It's not unusual for Swedes and Danes to have a flag flying outside every day. They seem to take a lot of pride in it. The problem here seems to be the belief that taking pride in your country is inherently bad in some way, coupled with a culture that says being too showy about your beliefs is a sign of poor manners.I've always wanted to know why in the UK at least if someone has the union flag (union Jack) displayed outside their house, it means they're low-class, racist chavs? Even Germans do that nowadays. It's not unusual for Swedes and Danes to have a flag flying outside every day. They seem to take a lot of pride in it. Why do you say that? Are you jewish?Even Germans do that nowadays.
Out of all the peoples who should have a bit of reluctance to flag wave, it’s them.
If you weren't so busy looking for eli and moshe under your bed, you'd understand that he was pointing out that Germans have spent the last 90 years having "nationalism bad" drilled into their skulls and are still somehow culturally able to understand that putting your country's flag on your house is a harmless show of respect. Why do you say that? Are you jewish?
