This seems to be the one game most people are interested about when watching the utter cringe and virtue signal fests that are [Current Year] video game conferences. Wasn't a thread about it though, so being interested in it myself I figured why not make it. Here are the trailers/gameplay videos that have been put out so far:

So your first thought is probably "this is just a Dead Space clone" and you're pretty much right; the people who made Dead Space are making this as well. Personally I'm cool with that since Dead Space 1 and 2 still hold up to this day, so more games from the dudes who made those gems are fine by me.

Survive to Escape the horrors of Callisto.

In this narrative-driven, third-person survival horror game set 300 years in the future, the player will take on the role of Jacob Lee – a victim of fate thrown into Black Iron Prison, a maximum-security penitentiary located on Jupiter's moon, Callisto. When inmates begin to transform into monstrous creatures, the prison is thrown into chaos. To survive, Jacob must battle his way to safety to escape Black Iron Prison, while uncovering the dark and disturbing secrets buried beneath the surface of Callisto. Using a unique blend of shooting and close-quarters combat, Jacob will need to adapt his tactics to combat the rapidly evolving creatures while scavenging to unlock new weapons, gear, and abilities to outrun the growing threat and escape the horrors of Jupiter's Dead Moon.

HORROR ENGINEERING

The Callisto Protocol is a next-generation take on survival horror from the mind of Glen Schofield. Blending atmosphere, tension, and brutality with terrifying moments of helplessness and humanity, The Callisto Protocol immerses players in a pulse-pounding story where unspeakable horrors lurk around every corner.

MASTER BRUTAL, STRATEGIC COMBAT

The Callisto Protocol challenges players to master a thrilling blend of melee and ranged combat, including a unique gravity weapon once used by Black Iron guards to control the prison population. Players will be forced to get up close and personal with their grotesque opponents, hacking off limbs, blasting off legs, and getting creative with whatever is at their disposal to survive each life-or-death encounter.

UNCOVER THE SECRETS OF THE UNITED JUPITER COMPANY

Set on Jupiter’s dead moon Callisto in the year 2320, The Callisto Protocol casts players as Jacob Lee, an inmate in Black Iron Prison. When a mysterious outbreak throws the moon into chaos, Jacob must face his darkest fears to defeat the bloodthirsty creatures that stalk him as he unravels the dark mysteries at the heart of the powerful United Jupiter Company.

EXPERIENCE THE ISOLATION OF JUPITERS’ DEAD MOON

One of the most hostile, isolated environments in the universe, Callisto looms large over Jacob’s desperate struggle to survive. Players must not only contend with the horrors of Black Iron Prison, but also the centuries-old secrets that plague Jupiter’s long-dead moon, both above and below the surface.

Too gory for Japan, apparently

EA wants so badly for this game to not do well, and those pathetic faggots known as game journalists are happy to (try and) help:

lol, that title alone seems like the AAA companies are furious they didn't think of it first.
I don't know who this faggot is, but everything about the thumbnail tells me he needs to stop attempting to make it big on Youtube and go back to sucking dicks for spare change.

I have to say that the animations thing is gay as fuck, but the game looks pretty good otherwise.
I don't see a problem with adding paid content that isn't full-blown DLC to the game if it's reasonably priced but there's always going to be this question of whether the animations could have been in the lunch game. If they really couldn't have put them into the retail game then they should have just not told us about the animations and released the animations at some point down the line.

Apparently the game is really bad. Good thing I didn’t buy it.

Fucking up that bad is impressive.

After back 4 blood I think people should be a bit more careful with games that try to “be like” other franchises.

Looking at the reviews, it seems like the biggest issue is the performance. Crashing, constant stuttering, low framerate even on high-end hardware. Having a horror game where it drops 50 frames and has to recompile shaders each time you round a corner is a real fuck-up.
Maybe if they get it patched up it'll swing around. Interested in how it's performing on consoles. I wouldn't be surprised if it were down to Denuvo fucking things over. Gotta stop piracy by making the game run like ass for the paying customers!
