Regardless of our knowledge (or lack of there of) of Schizophrenia or Autism or whatever, there's no way that a person who gave away all their savings to save their own imaginary characters from an imaginary moon laser can be characterized as a fully-competent person, disability or not.

Based on talking to Chris, besides autism and general stupidity, I wouldn't think he's mentally ill. If you replace the content of Chris' beliefs with something equally stupid, but socially acceptable (dons fedora), the beliefs fade into the background as normal, as he functions socially otherwise.

If there's mental illness in Chris, it's something that none of us would see coming, that we wouldn't also see in any random person on the street.

That's mostly what I'm getting at.

Like I've said before - people these days misunderstand autism. Chris's autism is different than this tumblr anybody autism.
He acts like he is autistic. His beliefs in strange things are typical of traditional autism due to the processing pathways autistic people do and don't have working in their brain. Not only that, but stuff like diet, stress and social interactions play a part in how the brain's structure behaves - meditation and certain diets can help the brain's structure get stronger so to speak, the opposite is true of poor diet and lousy interactions. Barb is a prime example of that ; the interactions with that cunt do not nourish Chris whatsoever.

But people will continue to be like lololol Chris is schizophrenic and an asshole, when in reality he's a classically autistic man, in a non-enriching environment being fucked with by people who should be shot out of a cannon. If this were anyone else I'd think Good, fuck them, but Chris is relatively innocent compared to most cows here, he doesn't deserve this shit.

I never argued that Chris was mentally well. I would definitely argue that he is quite coherent when it comes to paying his bills regardless of his fantasies regarding the need to buy Funko Pops. He is not some helpless crazy person.

Chris is mentally unable to take care of himself. Barb is senile and unable to take care of herself. Instead of raising money to send Chris to Bronycon or going after criminal wienery by calling the cops long distance, people who care about Chris should be trying to get him into some sort of long term care that will stabilize his life and give him interaction with other people like him. As lousy a mother as Barb was, she should also be in a place where she isn't wandering around the hoard in a stupor covered in bug bites while thousands of dollars fly out of the bank account due to Chris's delusional naiveté. She should be comfortable so she can die in peace.

Rocky isn't the enemy. Rocky has just gotten sick of half measures and excuses that ignore the truth- Chris isn't able to function normally. If I poured that much energy into the black hole of the Chandler household, I'd be sick to death with it too. I can totally see why she is digging in her heels and saying that there is just one clear path to follow. She isn't interested in going down the Chandlers' meandering paths that lead nowhere anymore. There's no more time to mainstream Chris by sending him on field trips to conventions. He needs a plan for the future.

Rocky didn't put much effort into the Chandler household. She's not sending Chris to a home. She's getting him therapy. Chris has been to therapists in the past. This is yet another therapist.
