I skimmed a Youtube playthrough of this just to see what all the hype was about after seeing Steam recommend it to me and I just don't see it. They cover all these topics that could be genuinely interesting if they were explored with any sort of nuance. Things like cannibalism for survival, having a psycho abusive sister who's in love with you, and dealing with the occult and actual demons could've made for an epic psychological thriller that really gets you thinking. But no, all of these things are just superficially presented at a basic level as a means for fetish-bait. What a wasted opportunity.

Nemlei's previous works are fujo bait. For some reason straight, basement-dwelling men don't care about twinky boys having endless relationship dramas but lose reason for crazy big tiddy goth girl tomboys. All the incest crap is a fault of the fandom, Ashley doesn't care aside from it being a way to keep her brother around, the brother has more of a mental damage he's ashamed of than a fetish.

Worldbuilding is superficial at best because women get off to angst and soap operas, not military history or composition of sedimentary rock layers (hi Dwarf Fortress fans!). There's a lot of detail and dialogue you have to go out of your way to find, similar to Undertale, which tells me the author cared.

I don't think they are mad at fanart as much as they are just really against people making unofficial merch, I knew of a guy on twitter who ended up making some edits of the characters and tried selling them on Redbubble as stickers, got taken down within a day or two.
