Science The Covid-19 passport implanted in your skin using this NFC-enabled microchip - Remember when this was considered a conspiracy?

A start-up hub in Sweden has showcased a new use for its microchip implants: your Covid-19 vaccination passport. The company Epicenter plans to market the versatility of the technology it spent years developing. The chips use Near-field communication (NFC), which can communicate with any NFC-capable smartphone. The company says the procedure is entirely reversible.

Ok, you apparently didn't read my post from earlier. I used this tech 20-something years ago to tag fish to figure out where they have sex and poop and die and stuff (not exactly in that order). These tags, these near-exactly-pretty-much-ish ones, are these little pellets a little bit bigger than a grain of rice. We just poked them through the skin so they carried it along. As non-invasive as the little darlings could handle. Why really sink it in there and cause complications, right? Well. You ever seen that Dr Pimple-Popper show? Yeah, that. We have fingers. Fish don't. Easy enough job if you wanna opt out. It even has this little signal you can fry with certain EM frequencies and magnitudes if you don't wanna go mining.

It's all so stupid if you realize that so many people won't comply on principle making it all meaningless. Shit, look at the pushback now with these ultra-shitty vax proof thingies we have now. It's just dumb. It's all dumb. And someone was perfectly positioned to manipulate the dumb knee-jerk christfag people to spread the word of a coming apocalypse. Which spread it to the eyes of the also dumb knee-jerk covidian people who thought the apocalypse was already here. So the latter give them money to stop the apocalypse. It won't, but it will make them feel better.

They are scummy assholes but I can't really blame them. If people are going to continue to be this dumb over a cold, fleece them. All of them.
In the EU people are already carrying digitally signed QR codes so chipping is not so outlandish. Also NFC is not exactly the same tech as RFID. Main difference in this case being that NFC tags can be encrypted and made impossible to clone.

If people weren't doing this for their credit card or ID, they wont be doing it for vaccine status either.

People have physical cards already, there isnt a major problem being solved by, surgically implanting them, it's a solution looking for a problem.

This just isnt as practical as a physical document, if anything, digital documents on phones have been taking over, that's how vaccine status is handled where I live.
