I could see the appeal if they got rid of the diceroll combat but Morroblivion also exists and that mod has regular Oblivion combat as far as I know.

No matter which game, there's always a caveat to the combat. Morrowind has dicerolls, Oblivion has you taking on the world armed with a pool noodle, and in Skyrim, you're playing Skyrim. Of the three, Morrowind's is the least bad.

Bethesda would never do it but they should look their first person melee contemporaries to try and glean something. The best first person melee systems I've seen in recent years have been in Mordhau, Chivalry, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and Vermintide (not Darktide). Chivalry/Mordhau and Kingdom Come: Deliverance are probably too methodical/deliberate and skill based to translate to a TES environment and Vermintide is too fast and chaotic but there's definitely a middle ground where I think TES sits, sort of. Adding a dedicated dodge key would go a long way.

Why are people so convinced that Bretons are the best race. Firstly, they're short, secondly Altmers have 50 extra magicka.

As far as Skyrim is concerned (which most of us started with), that 25% MR doesn't sound like much, but it helps. With just a little legwork at the start of the game, you can have 40% passive MR, with no buffs. That's insane. Especially since in Skyrim "Resist Magicka" affects all magic, not just "non-elemental" magic.

Note: I was ninja'd by @Asian tech support.

Because they’re a legacy of halfbreeds with the only political importance in Nirn being stabbing each other in the back in their own godless country. It’s lovely lore since almost every famous man in the elder scrolls has had elf blood in him, this technically making them a Breton.

Because resist magicka is one of the best stats in the game.

Look, I have a mod which makes your camera accurate with height. It means when I play as a breton femoid(I only play as women) I am literally playing from the height of a kid.

Hmm an objective superior race. what did bethesda mean by this?

Skyrim is baby shit compared to Morrowind and even Oblivion. Skyrim didn't have reflect as an armor effect and the only source of spell absorption was the atronach stone and miraak's robes iirc.

At least there's a nice suit of gameplay mods which brings back both effects at a general rate.

Mmm... if you are talking about Tiber Septim, his actual race is unknown, only is know about being human (can be either Nord, Imperial, Breton or their ancestors Atmoras and Nedes; not Redguard since he isn't a shitskin).

I like the ambiguity of Tiber Septim’s race but he did rape an underage elf queen and then proceeded to force an abortion. That’s some Breton shit.
