My verdict so far is that it's Oblivion with shit performance and art direction, but maybe it has potential depending on how limited mods are. I still don't understand the technical details here. You can fire up the construction set and make simple edits, but is the script extender compatible for example? How would you import something like a custom mesh?

.pak files seem to do the job with UE games. I play modded RoN and I think that's UE5. I'm currently roleplaying as Civil Protection officers from Half-Life complete with the snazzy masks.

remains to be seen, as of yet, it depends how much hold the UE5 has over the game. As of now it seem to be just as they say it is, that UE5 is more for the graphics and acting a skin to the game.

I remember that I tried editing mods in XCOM back in the day and as I recall it didn't play nice when you tried to tamper with them in seemingly trivial ways. Also mods like long war required steam verification for some unknown reason.

some of the remastered textures make some armors look plastic, the original textures conveyed a lot more grit and wear and tear

I dunno if it's a general UE5 thing, a specular mapping thing, or a lighting thing, but the metallic bits are all far too reflective despite (generally) being dull/matte.

Most of them look better than the originals however, I'm curious to see how Skyblivion reworked them.

If you go back and watch some of their promo material, you can pick out a handful of sets. For the most part I think they look better than the remake's versions.
