Why do people buy this shit when you can get Oblivion for free, or at most $5? I thought BG EE was worthwhile but surely it’s trivial to load at texture pack into the original release of Oblivion?

Thank God it failed. Despite their greatest efforts it seems like the whole "vote with your wallet" thing is actually working in the realms of media. Eventually these companies will run themselves bankrupt and need to pivot strategies or risk death. Ubisoft's had 40% of its shares bought by Tencent and that's not even the first time something like that's happened. Bethesda will probably only be able to ride off of brand recognition and reputation for a few more releases before they start to go under too. ES6 is going to be ass and everybody knows it, and that'll be the death knell for another company that once made mediocre to okay videogames that were highly culturally relevant 15 years ago.

Oblivion will also crash when it crosses the 4GB limit (or 3GB if you don't patch it). Controller support is another reason to use the new one.

Same goes for people spending money on the remake getting blasted for that alone. Worthless secondary grifters immediately strawman about "bethesdrones" eating up whatever Toddler shits out. Toddler isn't a brand, especially not one that sells. Starfield proved it after being a disaster of such a degree that they had to pull the "players intead of sales" shit, and the game never developed a modding community on top of that - yes, the most hardcore autists deemed Saarfield a lost cause and abandoned it. Did you know it got an expansion pack DLC? Yeah, me neither, because nobody fucking cared about Starfield by the time it came out. It also being apparently complete dogshit is just a cherry on top. I know someone will pull up the 330k concurrent players it "amassed" during release. Yeah, do that. Then find out how many refunded that pile of garbage.
The remaster sold because it does the original justice, not because of your imaginary drooling retard army waiting for Toddler's stomach gurgle like a nest of baby birds. Any minor specks are being ironed out by the modding community of spergs of a caliber similar or even bigger than mine. I just have the knowledge of the original, not know-how when it comes to fixing it - but that's enough to call out bad faith niggers like you.

After clocking in 20 hours and getting to level 15 (slow boil) with now 100 Strength and Endurance I saw "the light" with the seemingly retarded difficulty damage modifiers they put in the game (master is 1/5 dealt and 500% taken). You are someone fresh out of a jail cell, effectively a cripple, and can't really go toe to toe with bandits and wild animals. Base expert difficulty really brings that feel home and you better make note of any Imperial Legion patrolmen on the roads, because you will be needing their help, and I say that as someone who went basically for the tankiest build possible. Even wolves will fuck you up. If you don't train either alchemy or restoration, you're going to suffer. Right now I can effortlessly beat bears and mountain lions to death while tanking their blows like nothing and can sprint indefinitely after chugging one "restore fatigue" potion. Not quite able to withstand jumping off a mountain, but I'll get there. Don't even have an enchanted weapon yet, using a silver longsword as a safeguard against anything immune to normal weapons that might show up, patching lackluster damage with poisons otherwise.
But I'm glad I actually have to use the gorillion potions I made. Sure, I still sell most of them, but there's no entering combat without at least 2 of them to keep my fatigue full.
Not sure how I feel about the leveling speed. It almost feels too fast for comfort.

That’s probably more to do with it.
Writers these days don’t seem to have read decent books, preferring to have watched the films or tv adaptions and depend on video games for their creative inspirations.
Wheel of time for instance, the books are a massive epic read which makes lord of the rings look like spot the dog in comparison.
The TV adaptation is really hit and miss, glossing over loads of story points and detail, but going quite in depth to things which just happen to fit with today’s sentiment.
A video game writer who read the whole thing would have a load more coherent Plot points to be inspired by and base a few side quests on.
And this is the problem, the current writers don’t have the same sense of depth.
RPGs need a good story, deep plots to become engaged in.
A platform game or shooter, less so.

That limit only ever becomes a problem with mods that add way more objects and actors, and you can mitigate it a lot with for example Oblivion Reloaded Combined that will cull objects and purge memory when necessary

You're being generous when you describe them as writers. Most of them haven't produced anything of worth outside of videogames. They're glorified screenwriters.
Then you have things like the Emil Pagliarulo problem, where the writing is deliberately dumbed down and the emphasis placed on the player's narrative (oh great, emergent gameplay) rather than an engaging story.

I really don't understand why they get so hung up on this mod. If it really is unimportant to you, then why bitch about the mod existing?
Could it be these troons don't give a shit about the game and just want to score petty points on the internet?
I wanna play Oblivion again, but I don't want to buy the remake yet because it's unreal, and unreal's graphics are shit. There a mod to optimize the game and make it look colorful and not look like the game taking a sewer filter?

price really is key in this, if this was 30$, 10$ more than the old base game, I'd hardly complain. Or at least complain less.
It's double speak. They really want LGBT supremacy and are ALMOST saying the quiet part out loud . They can no longer claim such a mod is "super bigoted" without calling nexus that, and hate they can't just heckle people unable to mod it themselves. They are mad because it's a high water mark showing depleting social power. But coping saying anything else is easier than saying "I guess people are getting really sick of our faggotry, this sucks".
That's all that is, power, realizing they have less control over the conversation now.

Ok, I know most people will be talking about the slop/modern audience stuff with this "remaster", but I have now messed around a bit with the cracked version and I'm not entirely hating it.
It is falling into a very weird uncanny valley part of my brain, where its technically UE, but its still very identifiably the Creation Engine jank underneath. I actually have very little issue with this aspect, as it's a sort of novel concept when it comes to these full remakes, and mostly makes the gameplay/environmental design feel closer to faithful. Small details are added, like environmental animations, physics where there were none before, more thoughtful light sources in caves, or even as simple a thing as activating a sewer grate (to proceed to the next area) having the sewer grate animate, where iirc it didn't do that originally. (Though I might be misremembering) Though this compounds a lot of issues that putting it into UE adds, like some pretty gnarly pop in when loading new areas, or weird reflections or several novel glitches I've encountered. (Like a shield refusing to unequip when I had a bow equipped, meaning I couldn't fucking see anything when aiming)
Some enemies look pretty good, while others feel semi-out of place. Though, I do think that was an issue with enemies in Oblivion originally in a different way.
Not a huge fan of a lot of the new animations for attacks or the sprinting, BUT, the weird blend of new and old animations for the walking/jumping/etc. when using a controller is actually well done and feels much better than the PC version originally did.
The new voices are fucking weird, but not on unwelcome. It adds to the uncanny aspect when playing, though. Pretty cool to have some Skyrim actors show up to reprise racial roles.
Then the big one, the character models/facial animations. They are weird, just out of the gate. Several of the races are actually fine, Khajiits being likely the best of the bunch with their original weird egghead head shape being removed and a lot of the faces looking much more cat-like. Orcs and Argonians though? Horrific. Orcs look like trolls, and female Orcs usually come out looking like your angry grandma with green skin, while Argonians have what seems to be the old head mesh (egghead) but with a slightly higher res version of the Skyrim texturing/accessories on top. It makes them have a much more busy and overall bumpy looking head that is not actually scaled properly to their body, while Orcs have the opposite, and their heads are very fuckin small.
Most of the other faces look decent (other than the old person skin texture looking like a Fallout 1-2 talking head) and the added eye colors/makeup/skin whatever shit is a welcome addition and likely mean mods for characters will be far better than they were before, assuming modding this game isn't a clusterfuck.
The UI is a mixed bag, BUT there are a ton of things I actually really like. Some of the pause menu controls, like sorting or going between all the different menus, feels pretty good on controller. I really, really, like the new compass. Which, instead of putting a little marker on the screen exactly where you should be going, its on the compass, and when facing it, it will actually tell you how far away it is on the HUD, but only when facing it. Actually a very cool minor change that isn't just a mindless arrow to follow like Skyrim. This compass thing actually goes for all compass icons, and will tell you how far away from town icons or door icons you are.
TL;DR: I don't hate it, and while I wouldn't recommend paying more than like 20 bucks for it, this could very easily be a good way to play Oblivion after a few mods come out to fix the faces/glitches and make a couple things more faithful.
