The absence might be due to Luna's health declining (hence not being very instagrammable at the moment), but knowing how fucked and unfair this world is my guess is it's just a rough patch and she'll go on "living" for many years to come.

Globyn doesn't model the give and take of language he is told everything he will do and how to act for the camera. He has no reason to understand that langauge can get him things and such because his langauge means nothing to them.

Infant/toddler language acquisition begins with something known as "universal grammer".

It is the innate ability for a young human to grasp the concept of the syntactic rules of language, no matter what the actual "words" are.

The theory of universal grammar proposes that if human beings are brought up under normal conditions (not those of sensory or social deprivation), then they will develop the capacity to distinguish nouns from verbs, and the "give and take" flow of interpersonal communication. This faculty does not know the vocabulary of any particular language (so words and their meanings must still be learned)

For those of us with kids, many of us have experienced "having a conversation" with a toddler, even if its straight up babbling.

Morbid curiosity made me dig back through this thread to my regret. I don't know if I feel worse for Luna, or for Atlas being raised along side (and overshadowed by) a sibling that's a husk. I can't get over how many expensive and/or good quality things Robyn manages to acquire, while still displaying what amounts to appalling levels of discernment.

One of those is the previous dog. She probably got Marley because she wanted a GSD and working lines* are generally considerably less expensive than show lines (except for the top performing working and sport dogs), but they're also more expensive than no-line pet breeding. He was actually really nice -- decent conformation, and it seems like a solid temperament as well. (*I know the dog was working line because of his colour. You don't see bicolour in either show lines or general "no line" petlines they're almost all black and red or black and tan of varying intensities. Sable or black or bicolour = working lines.) How did someone not looking for a good sport/working prospect end up with a dog of such nice breeding apparently without trying? That, and all of the expensive and useless aids she's managed to grift, ostensibly for Luna to use though she can't. Robyn evidently has a clear talent for that. Maybe she should pursue a career buying things for other people online, because it's outright astonishing and infuriating when you consider there are families whose children could really use whatever the item is, but they can't manage to procure them, and here Robyn has an entire stable of useless walkers, etc.

My other observation may be one that's made before and I just missed it but not only is Robyn's smile creepy, the expression strongly reminds me very much of another woman in this forum, Margo Palermo.

For any other family, I would 10000% agree with you. With Robyn, it might be best if she DID forget about/never mention Luna. And on the topic of Atlas. It seems like they're not bothering to put in any of the effort that comes with raising a toddler... because Robyn is 100% one of those narcissistic mothers who wants to keep her children as baby-like as possible because she can't handle the thought of them developing and maturing into their own people. She absolutely sees her kids as little more than an extension of herself, or as dolls she can just dress up - it's why Luna is the favourite, because she has no functional brain left and is stuck at the size of an infant, so Robyn can put her in all the cutesy outfits she pleases without having to deal with any tantrums or general moodiness.

But she's doing it with Atlas somewhat too - the extended breastfeeding, the lack of speech, and we don't know if he's even potty trained yet - TBF the age at which that begins can vary from kid to kid, but I've encountered kids who are around 4 or 5, about to start school, yet their overly forgiving parents still let them wear nappies because the child insists they're "not ready". These are the same sort of kids who spend most of their day watching a screen. And kids with actual disabilities don't count - they're stuck in a "baby-like" state due entirely to bad luck, by no fault of their own or their parents (obviously Luna doesn't fall into that category as she'd be completely normal if it weren't for Robyn's insistence on a wacko hippie home birth with no medical intervention. Robyn is absolutely at fault for strangling her baby in her hoo-ha), it's the ones who have nothing wrong but their parents don't give enough of a shit to raise them properly.
