I guess being divorced from Final Fantasy for so long gave me a skewed impression of its fanbase. I'm shocked so many people don't think this crap is utterly exceptional. "They might do something interesting with it!" Even if that wasn't insanely optimistic, the stuff they have done with it is already fucking stupid. The game goes full Advent Children over one of its most iconic sequences, nothing makes sense, the dialogue is crap, the characters reactions to all this are baffling.

I'm too old for anime I guess.
I play things besides JRPGs so realize that even the best JRPGs have mediocre combat at best.
Boomers rise up. The only traditional JRPG that I could get into after the PS2 era is Lost Oddysey. Once voice acting got involved more and more of Japan became apparent. Back when there was just text you could give the characters whatever voice you want.

And the grunting, oh god the fucking grunting.

JRPGs nowadays feel so dated just from the start. Even outside of shitty translations with awful voice acting you can tell that the devs have to be dragged kicking and screaming to the 21st century in regards to their design desisions.

People are saying that FF7's combat is great but from what I can tell it looks stilted and lame. Let me ask you guys this; Do you feel that anything would be lost from the game if the combat was designed more like Devil May Cry 5? You could map characters to the dpad like Dante's styles and you can still have the materia system. You don't even have to go balls to the wall like DMC5 but I see no reason why the combat can't be that fluid.

Also Dunkey did a video, and he points out the shitty translation and grunting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Qlf3b9wa4s

"Full Advent Children": Nonsense dialogue followed by throwing the entire Shinra building at the party and then everyone flying like it's DBZ.
It was the final battle inside some weird dimension, nothing is supposed to be concrete.

Like the entire battle of Xenobalde was fought outside the solar system, Dragon Quest 11's was fought in space.

The final battle is supposed to be normalcy flipped on it's head so it's restored once the boss is dead.

I really hate DMC's reliance on Combos, I like making more measured calculated movements like in Valkyria Chronicles. FF7r's combat is perfect the way it switches from active to passive. if anything Monster Hunter would be the way to do if you want to get rid of any menu selection entirely.

I was thinking of Crisis Core personally, but it would probably be an alright game if it didn't have the faggy pop star's Original Character Do Not Steal (and if it were released for a console that people actually played). Admittedly I have a bit of a soft spot for Dirge of Cerberus, I find its misguided edginess charming.
Also being able to stick a 2/3-foot long barrel on a handgun is funny to me.

Tbf, Vincent does wield rifles one-handed in the original game since his default weapon is a pistol all of his animations are set up as using a pistol or revolver.

Despite this, they decided to give him a ton of guns with rifle stocks, ranging from a shotgun all the way up to his ultimate weapon, Death Penalty.

Worst thing DoC did was change Chaos' Buff Satan look into that god awful Demon Vincent look. Also not letting players use Death Gigas or Hellmasker. And absolutely trashing Vincent's characterization

Been playing War of the Visions FFBE and it's been really fun so far.
For anyone that doesn't know it's a FF tactics game for mobile. They're having a FFT event right now.

The fanbase is exceptional and full of midwits who are just smart enough to convince themselves of utter crap. I cannot tell you all the retarded shit I've heard, especially since nobody wants to hear it.

But this is the forum for exceptionalism, please do elaborate.

Oh and btw, I'm not sure if it was specifically you or somebody else, but guess what? You know the FF7 Compilation you guys don't like? Well, it seems you're going to get more of it in some fashion.

I'll probably be adding more stuff to this post in a few minutes.

A lot of stuff about how the game is going to be completely different from Coping fans when we all know it's gonna be the same fucking game but with 50% more Nomura than the original.
The most exceptional shit is to do with shipping. No surprise.
Stuff like arguing Tifa and Cloud never get together because they never seem that happy. Dumb but pretty basic.
My favorite theory, and this one is common as fuck, is that Cloud never liked Aerith because he just thought he was Zack. That the real Cloud is purely motivated by his love of Tifa and nothing else. Pretty much devastates the story and characters.

No do it. As long as it's not just dumb boring shipper shit. (Aeris and Tifa are both Cloud's love interest deal with it faggots)

If you play games for the story you will never get a big titty goth gf and you will die a virgin 5 times over.

This is backed up by science.
Good, goths are shit and never bathe.

That is where 90% of the exception is but I can oblige that. Kind of already said the shipper shit tbh.

- Some people saying the people who don't like the Remake are the same crowd that didn't like The Last Jedi (this is meant as an insult).
- The head writer saying Aeris is the most important character and people having a 'tism fit over that (kind of shipping)
- Niggas still mad about Tifa's tits
- ludicrous tumblr-nosed art of Tifa looking like a black man (I did not save it obviously but will look)
- Comparing the Remake to Kingdom Hearts (said as a compliment)
- Defending the sequels to FFX (including the book where Tidus gets blown up)

I'll get screens of stuff from now on.

Did everyone notice how Sephiroth speaks one line out of character in the final fight? I even turned on the french language to see, and it's spoken in an almost joking tone like he's self aware.

He's going to be a regular party member I bet, they're going to pull a Gaius and Muzet and have the bad guy be a regular party member.

I'm looking to play the PS1 release of FF4, should I play the Regular version or Rev1? I couldn't find the exact differences between the two for PS1, and I know that there were a few versions when it originally released.

PS1 version is the hard type one, it's going to have massive difficulty spikes and no real proper place to grind for them.
