8 was so bad it is the sole reason 9 is seen as so good because 9 looked like an attempt to course correct. Then 10 came out and it was revealed that 9 was just a fluke.

It's a love letter to the 2D games. Western audiences were familiar with 7 only.

What are you talking about, Legais 2 was the only good game in the series. Legaia 1 was obviously a mistake that they thankfully corrected by making the sequel a better game. Why, you can COOK in it. Cooking is fun right? And they have Stands, well not really, but close enough, so that makes it cool.

No, you don't seem to understand. You get to the final boss of a tactics game, what does she do? Just hit things really hard. Her second form is an even bigger joke. No strategy, no careful planning, just wail on her like the step-child she is. That makes her even gayer than the dude with all the gay wings.

I really don't know why they drifted away from the biblical references in the first game and the went with generic action hero plot in the second. Makes no damn sense.

Tactics was a very big brain game. See the final boss actually shows up in sections in very cleverly organized ways instead of at the very end.

First, you have the one asshole you prompts you to save your game before fighting him. So if you do save and you can't win, the boss does his "I'm going to softlock you so you restart the entire game over again" attack so you learn your lesson. This is a very powerful technique that starts very early, it serves as a barrier against casual normies.

Then, you have another asshole who does the exact same trick, except this time Ramza fights him 1v1 like a Chad (Cloud's solo fight is just an auto win, true virgin energy fight), but if you weren't Chad enough to make Ramza good then you have to git gud or if you didn't learn your lesson from phase 1 of the final boss, then you get soft locked AGAIN. This really separates the men from the boys, the GAMERS from the normies. Unlike Eff Eff Gayven which is a baby game, the final boss can't even kill you with the sun exploding in your face. What a loser, that sun was probably fake and gay too like him.

Then after that asshole, you get those assassin chicks who one shot an npc that cannot die randomly (or you) and you have to git gud and adapt or get owned like a scrub. Then you also fight a vampire or something who is the true katana master, for he can parry attacks. What a beast.

Sometimes the final boss will just summon Red Chocobos which look adorable, until they actually meteor you and you die.

In terms for your small brain and gay brain to understand. Eff Eff Gayven has a final boss at the very end, In FFTactics, everything is the final boss until Orlandeau joins which makes it a true gamers game. Tactics was very revolutionary and Ramza is best protagonist.

Should note that FF9 was a throwback to FF1-6 because of a couple of reasons:

1. To shut up fans who were complaining about the cyberpunk/modern tone of FF 7 and 8.

2. FF9 was literally an afterthought; the Playstation 2 was getting ready to launch and FF 10 was already earmarked for the new system. So the producers of the game, basically did a retro game both as a sop to fans who weren't happy with the new direction of the series (IE modern and cyberpunk) and because all the "new" ideas were being saved/earmarked for FF10.

That said, FF9 is a good game and pretty underrated but it underperformed compared to FF 7 and 8 due to the tonal shift. That said, it's getting a cartoon because of the post-Nintendo games, it's the most kid friendly of the games and one that you can adapt/expand/fuck around with storyline-wise with the most minimum fandom backlash.
